RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
gdretiredcop, You can look at the pictures of the giles on ultra-rc's web site to see where i mounted my throttle servo, which was on the bottom left hand side of the motor box, so i could pretty much get a straight shot to the carb. good luck Chris

RE: SHOWTIME VS UL GILES 202?
I was the one who was flying the prototype of the UL Giles with an OS. 1.60fx and pitts muffler. mine weighed 10lbs flat RTF. The plane is amazing for both 3D and pattern flying. It flys the pattern like a 35%er and 3D's like a foamie. I have also flown the showtime a bit. it is great for more sporty flying than the Giles. i think it is to heavy for its size where yes the Giles is a pound heavier it also is bigger - 76" . The showtime is a decent overall flying plane, but if you want something that flys like a bigger plane and is more practical for pattern and/or 3D manuevers, go with the Giles. Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Hey guys... Actually JP i was using the stock HD arms that the HItec servo's come with, which are about 2" or so, and then the H9 TT pushrods. But yeah about 50-70 degrees or so is about right, on everything. I have the wing positioned about 1/2" back from the front of the blocks, and the rx and batt. are mounted on the same tray as the rudder servo.?? Have fun, and em' nice. Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Darcy, Yeah man this thing is awesome.. here is my set up. Engine: OS 1.60 fx w/ Slimline Pitts muffler, and APC 18 x 6w Servo's: Aileron-Elevator: Hitec 6975's ( 144oz karbonite gears, .1sec speed ) and Jr 8411 on rudder. 6.0v 2000mah Ni-Mh pack. I used all H9 TT pushrods and HD ball links. Everything else is stock. The wing posistion like Brian said before is about 1/2" back from all the way forward. Flys AWESOME. The battery and rx are mounted side-by-side right in front of the rudder servo.. i believe you can see pictures of this on the OMP site. Thanks, Have fun... Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Mr. Scale, Well the ones coming off the line that all of you will get, has a reienforced firewall with carbon and such for gass engines.. but again... you dont need it. your choice. The evo. 1.6 is the Evolution 1.6 sold by horizon. Yeah Trent, im sorry.. but you know its worth it.. haha then you can sell your Yak and get a Dalton! Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
The Giles can most definately hold up to a gasser, but im saying yes for like a 1.6 evo. again.. there is no need for a 40cc engine. And yes this plane is made in the same factory as ExtremeFlight, OMP, and QQ. but this is an Ultra-RC product. Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Hey Trent, doesnt that Giles just fly so awesome.. .i mean, Scott must just really be crying cause he cant fly it. Maybe ill let one of our other "boys" fly it first. haha. You can fly it Scott... only if you stop bugging me every 5 seconds, rotf... In conclusion, There is absolutely NO reason at all for anything bigger than a 1.6 gass or glow engine.. i mean i am running the OS 1.60fx and it is sick... the evo. 1.6 will be just as awesome but there is no need for anything bigger... a ZDZ 40 or something would just be rediculous and cause more damage that good. THINK LIGHT. another option, would be a Hacker C-50! anyways..... Plane flys unreal, and everyone needs one. lol Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
I am using the OS 1.60fx... the Evo 1.6 is 3oz. heavier that that with just a tad more power.. its going to be insane... There is no need for anything bigger than that. Keep it light...

RE: Icepoint
Yeah the Icepoint is an Awesome F3A 2m pattern plane.... it may be capable of doing some basic 3D manuevers.. but then so is a trainer... I'm getting one of these myself... to tune in my precision skills...

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
mr.scale You really dont have to use any type of crazy high speed/troque servo in this. I mean i used those Hitec 6975's just becuase they are insane and i think thats cool... it does how ever help to have fast servo's with a desent amount of torque ( 90oz + at no more than .2 sec ) The fast servo's help the precision flying, and the powerfull ones help with the full throttle parachutes and such.. haha BTW i have done full power parachutes and blenders with this plane.... I"ll tell you what, this thing is major strong... Have fun, Chris

RE: Ultra R/C Giles 202 UL 29%
Yea you could most definately use this plane in IMAC at the lower levels and be competetive, but you have to remember the Bigger planes score better. I have personally flown the Unlimited sequence with this many times to actually practice instead of using my 40%, and it does an outstanding job. It seriously flys like a F3A plane. its crazy light, but penetrates the wind very well. Conclusion : this plane is AWESOME for everything, period. Chris

Yeah, well Scott that crash was pretty awesome... i love the new look of your Katana GS! haha Brandon, hey nice meeting you, and yeah sorry you and everyone else couldnt fly my Giles, but o well, i guess you guys just have to wait to get your own.. haha Have a great day.
