RE: 6th scale f-22 Raptor
they seemed to be ok but remember that I used a SS plate and just did the shape for the nozzle in aluminum. what you could also try is high temp epoxies (you can usually go near 250Deg C)

yeah...it is definitly required to achieve good quality composites....don t want to see the plane blasting in the air or becoming soft on the 80 deg runway!

RE: 3d cnc probe
yeah it is very simple to setup. you just say which suface to cover, which depth max, which steps and the mach 3 does the rest for you. output as said is "points cloud"...extension is txt or other...doesn t make any difference. basically each line will have one point coordinates.

for probing I use Mach 3. then you can import the cloud point in your favourite 3d software (catia or other)

3d cnc probe
hi guys, just wanted to share with you some work I did recently (while having a sort break on my f22 raptor building): a 3 scanning probe for CNC. some more info or pics can be found on my website! the precison is quite good and the device can be very usefull when importing plastic models into 3d software for upscalling and modification.

RE: 6th scale f-22 Raptor
hi bela, long time didn t chat with you! Happy to see some nice scale progress! I agree with Mike, your 3d Job is excellent. on my raptor I did the same mistake...starting the construction before having 100% of the model right on computer... cost me lot of sanding / filling...got the lesson!...will not happen again! hope to chat with you soon. regards

RE: f22 raptor-rc work on progress!
yes it is a long very long project because I don t have much time to work on it since last 2 years...but I am now try to expedite the work. wings, rudders and stabs are now final plugs ready for finishing but as I manipulate them a lot for building the airframe, I didn t wanted to go further now. In the meantime I also built a test retract system and the fuel cells. I lost tons of time due to the fact that my initial drawings for the back of the airframe was totally wrong so lost of cutting, sanding, filling, etc.... At last there as other reason for going slow but that will be disclosed in few months...[:D]

RE: f22 raptor-rc work on progress!
here are some pics. as you can see I have redone the rudder with a better shape (still not finalized but almost). the airframe still need plenty of sanding and filling. then I will be able to add some more shapes on it. project is moving not very fast but surely will go till the end!
