RE: Team associated rc10b4.1 brushless top speed
I burned up the esc in my t4.1 using a 3 cell lipo bat. guess i used too big of a bat. I changed out the esc and motor to a traxxas vxl brushless that i found on ebay for about 125$. I now do wheelies from the stand still. i feel the traxxas vxl system is way faster than the stock setup in the t4.1 other than the esc and motor swap and tires my t4.1 is stock and runs great. estimate doing about 35 mph right now.

RE: help with mtII. keep loosing gears.
diff parts for the g and 18ss are the same in the book. i have the 18ss model. the spyder gears is what i keep losing. i know about using a piece of paper between the spur gear and the gear on the flywheel for meshing but dont know about testing the diff gear mesh. whats the best way to test to see if the gears are shimmed enough?

newbee needs help with rc10t4.1 bl & lipo batteries
After reading about brushless motors going faster and longer run times than brushed motors, i decided to purchase one. I decided to pick up the rc10t4.1 brushless. I know its a entry level brushless rc car, which is fine by me as i still love nitro cars. now i am brand new to lipo power batteries. the last time i used a electric rc car was still using the nicads. I picked up 2 2s venon batteries (20c 7.4v 4000mah) and a onyx charger. a few days later i decided to pickup a 3s battery pack (11.1v 5400mah) because the box said this car can use 2s or 3s batteries. well 10 mins into runing the 3s battery pack smoke started to roll out from under the body of the car. I burnt the esc to the point the bottom of the esc cover is melted with a hole in it. Im 99% postive the 3s battery is the wrong battery for this stock esc setup. i could not find a new esc but did find a traxxas vxl esc for brushless for a very good price. reading the specs on the traxxas esc seams like its a much better esc than the reedy one that ae put into the rc10t 4.1 for now i will be using the stock brushless motor with the traxxas esc in the rc10t4.1 i would like to find a lipo battery that would make the car fast and can wheelie like in the advertismentss. My main question is how do i determin what lipo battery can i use safely in my car??????????????????????
ORIGINAL: J.D.T
ORIGINAL: hpijunkie ok good point on motor running hot. what about the motor/esc from the stampede? or is that motor/esc not very good for 4x4?
If you mean the vxl brushless system that would be ok, decent for 2s bashing and stupid on 3s, I personally have alot more respect for the vxl motor than I do the esc, IMO the esc ain't a pimple on the butt

thanks for the info so far. very new to electric brushless system. after reading the info posted so far i am thinking that this "Castle Creations 1/10 Mamba Max Pro+ 5700 kV" motor / esc combo will work. not sure. its $195 at tower hobbies. its the only place that i have looked so far. i know there are other areas that may be cheaper than tower hobbies. tower hobbies just seams to have a lot of products and a tech listing about what the product is. good place to window shop.

nice build. do you have a body that will fit your build? i am currently building a sc10 out of a rc 10 gt. got the main parts from robert on this forum he designed the chassis to extend the rc10gt to the same measurments as the sc10. all parts from my rc10gt bolted right up the chassis with no modifications. no pics yet as i havent got the body mounted yet. once the body is done then i will post pics.

RE: Official HPI Hellfire Thread
its very sad that hpi discontinued the hellfire. i understand that people dont care for the steering and other flaws this truck has for racing. but i use it for just bashing around on whatever terrian i can find to run it on. just love this truck for bashing. my hellfire is 100% stock and still runs great. gonna be heartbroken when i have to finaly rebuild her and cant find the parts to do so.

RE: slayer
well you got the smarta#$ answer. now i will give you a better answer. proline has clear bodies designed for the slayer, if you have first designed slayer. traxxas has redone the slayer that is longer and wider and the current bodies designed for the slayer may not fit perfect. first designed slayer i believe is the same chassis as the revo 2.5 but with different a arms. i know the vw baja body designed for the revo 2.5 will fit as i put this body on my slayer but i removed the bumpers and side nerf bars to make it look right. also slash bodys may fit but their bumpers are different then the slayer so you may need to remove em to look right. i think any short course truck body should fit as they are very similar in size.

RE: GT2 RTR
my buddie put that engine in his gt2. it fits no problem. the engine has a little more horsepower than is needed with the 15 tooth clutch bell. he would hit the gas and the gt2 would do a wheelie and flip over on its lid if you werent carefull with the 15 tooth clutch bell installed he ended up going with a 18 tooth clutch bell and the gt2 still does wheelies but not as bad as with the 15 tooth clutch bell. the engine will use everything that the stock 15 os max uses in that car. just go to team asocieted.com and download the manual for the gt2. all parts in the manual will work with the 18 os engine

RE: trying to find a good stadium truck
love my rc10gt. my buddie has the rc10gt2 and loves it. rc10gt and gt2 are 2 wheel drive very hard to beat the quality and ease of tuining on the os engine that is in the rc10gt and gt2 hpi mt2 is also a great truck. its 4x4 and heaver then the rc10gt and gt2 hpi makes a durable truck. but the hobby stores around my area only carry the traxxas repair and upgrade parts. they also carry rc10 parts. the hobby stores carry very few hpi parts. i personaly will stay away from traxxas. the slayer left me with a bad taste. too much work out of the box to get it to handle good. which is the way it should come from the factory. the rc10 and hpi mt2 are great handling stadium trucks right of the box.

RE: traxxas slayer
its very strong. broke a front spindle due to a curb jumping in front of the slayer at full speed.[&o] as far as handling goes, that brings a question to mind. are you talking about handling right out of the box or after some mods are done? and are you talking about bashing and runing on all terrian or dirt track racing only? best to read the traxxas forumn at traxxas.com. the slayer will handle better after adding the anti sway bars, different springs and heavier oil in the shocks. right out of the box the slayer tends to roll over very easy. i decided to sell the slayer because i did not want to keep tinkering with it to get it to be more stable for bashing. i do not understand why a rc car company does not set the car up from the factory to be stable in driving. i know that the hpi trucks that i had over the years were setup to run easy right out of the box. only mods needed were if you wanted to go faster or change out parts for rpm parts. savage, hellfire and the mt 1 and 2 were the trucks i have had from hpi. i still run my hellfire stock except for the wheels and tires. i put the traxxas tmax tires on it. love my hellfire. just wish they did not discountinue it.

RE: RC10GT to SC10GT conversion
just picked up the sc10 rpm front bumper setup for my conversion. just figured out that it does not connect to the front body post like the factory sc10 bumper. wondering if i should design a brace from the front body post to the rpm bumper or is it going to work fine without the brace?

RE: RC10GT to SC10GT conversion
i got my conversion installed. still working on installing the body. this is a cool way to breath life back into my rc10gt. i really like the looks of the sc trucks, but dont like the stability of them. this conversion is very stable does not roll like the traxxas slayer at all. i used my stock 2.2 wheels and tires and it drives great. will post pics after i get the body on it.

RE: Questions about new MT2 break-in
my buddie has the mt2 ss hpi .18 motor in it. its a pain in the but to start on the first tank. after first tank it starts easy. nothing is wrong with the motor. he broke it in as per hpi instructions. he got tired of the hard starting and decided to put a .18 os engine in it. the os engine sure woke up the mt2 and its easy to start. sometimes it starts on the first pull. my mt2 has the 3.0 motor in it. no problems starting it. its a great truck. i have been having problems keeping the steering servo from stripping out in my hpi hellfire so i switched to the hi tec hs645mg ultra torque servo for steering. love this servo, seams to be more responsive than the stock servos. like this servo so much that changed out throttle and steering servos in my rc10gt to this servo. my buddie runs the hi tec servo throttle and steering in his mt2 and his rc10gt2. now the servos are trouble free. the mt2 is a great durable truck except the steering knuckles, especially when the curb jumps out in front of you. ebay to find the metal steering knuckles and no problems breaking em again. thats the only part the me and my buddie broke while driving other than stripping out the stock servos.

RE: Is the Hpi Nitro MT 2 G3.0 durable or cheap
i have the mt2 3.0 now. got it used off of ebay. now that i hve the mt2 3.0 i will be selling my mt .15. i have looked at other brands of stadium trucks and keep going back to hpi. the mt2 is a solid truck and easy to tune and keep runing all day long. also its one of the very few stadium trucks that is 4 wheel drive. most of the other stadium trucks are 2 wheel drive. the 4 wheel drive is easier to control to me. the front left steering knuckle broke on me when i ran it into a curb but no big deal. cost me 10 bucks for replacement knuckle (4 per package). also installed the mip cvds in the mt2 just dont like the dogbones. the cups wear out over time. the cvds replace the cups and dog bones. 90% of the mt parts will fit on the mt2 so finding parts for either one is very easy. the 3.0 engine is very fast and easy to tune.

RE: 2 tone body
ORIGINAL: Littl3TuffGuy13 how do you make the body change color at different angles?? do you do a first layer with a transparent color and then after that do a layer of a normal color??
you can also use faskolor paints. they have whats called fasflip paint that changes color. you just back it with black paint. you can find faskolor paints at http://www.shopatron.com/index/137.0.6089.5978.0.0.0 also spaz stick paints are designed to work with lexan bodies. I prefer to use the faskolor paints. i like the colors better.

RE: Which Color??
ORIGINAL: nick2618 Hey any ideas on how wide i should make the stripes and how far apart. It is a 190mm body.
get some automotive painters masking tape. I would get one roll of 3/4" and a roll of 1/2" tape. decide where you want the outside edge of the first stripe and lay out the 3/4" masking tape along that line. then use the 1/2" tape right against the inside of the 3/4 tape. next 3/4 tape against the 1/2 tape strip. after all this is done take the 1/2 tape off and then just paint. this way you will have 3/4" wide stripes with 1/2" between them. of course you can use any width of tape that you think would look better. this is just my idea on how to lay out the stripes. good luck and hope the body comes out the way you want it to.

RE: Which Color??
paint it blue with your stripes masked off. back it with the black with the stripes still masked off. after paint is dry unmask the stripes and paint white. just paint the stripes till you get a solid color. you don't need to back the white with anything. you also don't need to back the black with anything unless you want the underside of the body to be the same color. if you want it the same color just paint the whole underside with white or black. remember one thing about rc body painting. this is not rockett science. basic rule of thumb is to paint the light colors with black/white/silver before you move on to another color unless you want a fade or color mixing. backing colors with black will cause the color to be darker than if you backed with white or silver. have fun painting.

RE: Which Color??
ORIGINAL: nick2618 I went to my LHS and bouoght some paint. They carried pactra paint so i bought Matallic blue (RC265), Sprint White (RC251), and ultra gloss clear coat (28139). The clear coat will protect the paint from like fuel and any other stuff that might get on the inside right? Also they where just over $5 dollars a can how is that for price on these. Thanks Nick
If you want a dark matallic blue then back it with black. backing it with white or silver will make the blue appear to be light. I have only used the pactra paints with the black or silver for a backing. I have not backed with clear coat to protect the paint job. I personally don't see the need.

Is it possible to fit a rear exhaust motor on this car? If I keep stock for now what pipe would you use? Also has anyone bought a CVEC pipe? I noticed you have to drill your own pressure tap? Difficult? Thanks guys
some of my friends run a os engine. my other friend runs a pico(spelling may be wrong) on his rs-4. i just got the rs4 3 evo last week. i finally got it broke in. the stock engine is fast and easy to tune. i have had great luck with hpi engines. so i stay with what works. i have been told to run a outlaw pipe on my rs4. (the pipe is black). but for now i will stay with the stock setup until next summer. while running the rs4 i have noticed that the engine stays cooler with the new head design. the engine stayed cooler than my hpi mt engine.
