Hey Chris, I've been in contact with Don on more than one occasion and I already have his present offerings and price list. Every time I look at it, I have to clean up my keyboard.......................[:D] David, You make some very valid points and I appreciate your thorough input as always................[;)] Like I said before, I'm in no hurry which is good the way things are for me around here right now. I've even thought about doing what Dphill2 did and put one of these in a DB ARF, just to get some stick time with the type of airplane I'd like to fly more of. Maybe when things change around here, that's what I'll do............[:D] Take care, David

RE: Brushfire Information Request
ORIGINAL: doxilia David, ..........What are your thoughts on the design? Are you hunting for a good design for the new NR black beasts? David
Good morning David, I don't have enough experience with any of these classics to offer constructive thoughts on the design. Also, I have not had the opportunity to see very many of these classics in person. At this point, I'm just absorbing all of the great information I can about the classics from the rest of you guys and I'm enjoying reading about your experiences with them over the years. I am also learning a great deal from watching real craftsmen here and other sites change a bunch of balsa, some fiberglass and a little paint into a real masterpiece. I’ve always liked planes like the EU1-A, Aurora, Atlanta, Blue Angel, Illusion and others ever since I first saw pictures of them here on RCU. I think it’s the graceful lines and the way they flow over the fuselages and the wings and since I’ve never had the opportunity to fly any of them, that’s all I can say. I almost hate to admit this, but the only classic pattern planes I’ve ever flown is my old Tower Kaos which is now deceased and the Dalotel I had which I thoroughly enjoyed flying while I had it. I guess my Dalotel is what really planted the seed in my head about finding one of the planes mentioned above along the desire to build and fly one even though neither my building skills nor my flying skills are up to the task. To answer your last question, Yes. I’m actually looking for two classics to put a purple headed monster in since I now have a natural case with a 10mm carb and a black case with the 9mm carb. I guess it’s a good thing that I’m in no real hurry to get one because I still have allot to learn, especially with regards to setting up a plane with a tuned pipe and how planes perform with different props. Geez, I’m long winded this morning, my fingers are getting tired of typing…………………..LOL[:D] Hey Wduck, I really like your Brushfire. Let us know how you like flying it..................[:D][:D] Take care, David
ORIGINAL: R/C Art I also attended the inaugural Mid Atlantic Dawn Patrol in Virginia Beach last October - better known as the MAD Patrol. It is held on the grounds of a full scale aviation museum which hangers 20 or so flying, full scale WWI aircraft......what a treat! My N-11 was awarded a trophy as the Top Allied Aircraft. I flew a lot of sorties, that's for sure......engaged in several dog fights......had a grand time with the plane. The museum is awesome!
Hello R/C Art, I love your N11.................[:D] My first love is WWII birds, but after seeing all of those WWI planes at the museum in Pungo flying around so many times, I am beginning to appreciate them more and more. If TRC has another MAD Patrol at the museum this year, you need to bring your N11 back as well as your new Eindecker. The museum has added a couple more WWI planes to their collection since the last Patrol that I think you'll like to see. I have attached a "Sneak Peek" for your viewing pleasure.........ENJOY ! ! [:D] The Albatross hasn't flown in about 35 years, but the D-VIII is in flying condition. Take care, David

RE: Sig Spacewalker II 1/4 scale
Hey VJ, While you're looking for an engine for your Spacewalker, please don't overlook the 3W28, It will have plenty of power for your plane. But if you want a little more oompf, you can get the CS version. Obviously it costs more than most of your other options, but the engineering and quality of the motor more than make up the difference to me. Also, DA is supposed to be coming out with their 35cc engine as well. Obviously you won't have either of these motors by tomorrow, but I believe any plane that is built with the quality of construction that you put into your planes deserves better than a Chinese copy cat for a motor. I hope I don't offend anybody with this post because it is the last thing I want to do, and if I do, I apologize. Take care, David

Do you have any pictures of them? Roncolman, I’m not waiting for Ray. I was just making a little joke…….[;)] I appreciate EVERYBODY who can help me with my questions. David, You bring up a point that I have to think about. I’ve kind of put the EU1A in the back of my mind because I’ve been told by a guy that used to fly them that they can get heavy pretty quick. I’d like to see what you come up with in your redesign. I’ll look up the thread you mentioned after I go find something to eat for dinner. Thanks for the help everybody. Brushfire Information Request
Hello Gents, In a recent thread regarding the new Nova Rossi Speed 13 RE engines, I asked for examples of aircraft that would be best suitable for the engine. Doxilia suggested a few, including the Brushfire. I have only seen the picture of the Brushfire in the Classic Pattern Image Base and the plane is appealing to me. To my untrained eye, the Brushfire looks similar to the EU1-A which is the first plane that came to mind when I bought my purple headed monster. I would appreciate any additional information about the Brushfire from you guys along with flight characteristics of the plane. Also, speaking of the Classic Pattern Image Base, does anybody know whatever happened to casniffer? He did such an outstanding job in putting the image base together and keeping it updated for us, but it all appears to have stopped in 2010. Just curious. Does anybody out there want to bet on how long it takes for Ray (RFJ) to respond with information and pictures of the Brushfire??????...............LMAO [:D] That man never ceases to amaze me. TIA for the help fella's. Take care, David

RE: GP extra 300s build
ORIGINAL: t-max97 It doesn't take much elevator at all the make it snap,I was surprised at how little it took.
Hey T-Max97, Your Extra looks great. I'm glad it survived your dead sticks......................[:D] There is a very simple way to get rid of the bad snapping habits of your Extra if it's balanced correctly and your wing incidence is correct. All you need to do is take whichever aileron the airplane is snapping towards and add a click or two of down subtrim if the ailerons are on a separate channel. If you are using a Y-harness or your radio doesn't have subtrim, you can just turn the stalling aileron clevis to make the aileron droop down to accomplish the same thing. Try the adjustments a little at a time and test fly it between your adjustments. I have the 60 size Aeroworks Extra and it did the exact same thing. Take care, David

RE: Servo advise for my 1/3 weeks special
a70eliminator, I read on the first page of this thread where you said you bought 4 Futaba 3050's for the plane and I need to clarify something. The Weeks my friend has uses 4 aileron servo's, 2 elevator servo's and two rudder servo's. Does your Weeks Special use two ailerons or four? I don't want to sound like I'm telling you what to do with your plane, but if it isn't too late, I'd look into adding two more servos (one for each aileron) and 1 more to split the elevator halves. I'd also like to see some pics of your finished plane. Here is a picture of my friends Solution X for a little "inspitarion".
ORIGINAL: hrrcflyer Hey a70eliminator, FYI, I know people use them all the time but Futaba 3151's are not rated for 6 volts. RE: Want to build my first kit
Spridal, I think the Tiger 2 will suite you better. The Sig 4 star kits are very well cut and the instructions are top notch. My only concern is that you will not be happy with what you end up with. Don't get me wrong, the Sig 4 star is a great flying airplane, but it has allot if dihedral and a constant chord wing which may make it boring if you're familiar with flying low wing airplanes. While you are looking at kits, don't overlook the Ultrasport 40. It is a much, pardon the pun "sportier" that either the Tiger 2 or the Four star. Regardless of which way you decide to go, good luck and welcome to the world of building. David

RE: Lanier Monster Stinger
Mystic, I don't see any reason why not. If you've built planes from scratch before, it shouldn't be too difficult. One thing you're going to have to watch is your wood sizes, especially where sticks are involved because, when you blow up the plans, things like notches in ribs and formers may not be a "standard" wood size so you may have to make some adjustments. Good luck and let us know if you're going to attempt it. If you wait a day or two, someone may chime in that has a set of plans for the Monster Stinger already. David
