RE: spectrum dx6 help
Proper polarity observed. Is the nicd charged to full potential? Maybe it won't hold a charge if very old.

RE: Anyone own a Hobbyengine Southampton tug?
Maybe the esc cutout because of low voltage. The 2s lipo is 7.4 v vs 9 - 9.6 for the 6 cell. are the motors brushed?

Hmmmm - I see there are pros and cons to the spring situation. I have a strong servo so I think I will leave it hooked up. Thanks for the informative discussion.

Bearings instead of brass tube for flex shaft
Anybody tried using needle bearings instead of brass tube for flex shaft support? I was thinking this would reduce drag in the tube. i found a needle bearing (part # B36) on Bocca Bearing site. I could put in some ply bearing supports to hold the bearings - probably 3 would do it. These would be easier to lube as a bonus. Thanks

Pe, Just took a look at my engine and see what you mean - to leave it on the shaft. Stupid for me to ask without looking at the engine. Thanks

Throtle Spring
In Bob P's sticky on gas engines he says not to remove the throtle spring (item #7). But in the sentence prior he says to unhook it so the the servo is not under constant tension. What does he mean?

RE: What happens if arf and kit building prices meet?
The people who are attracted to flying by the low cost foamies in the LHS are rarely seen by the flying clubs - they crash and burn before learning how to fly. They never get to meet modelers in the local clubs and join the hobby. I don't see this situation changing.

RE: Should a beginner buy a sealing iron?
If you buy an infrared thermometer make sure the high end of the reading range is high enough - 350 degrees. The one I have from HF marked CEN Tech only goes to 250 degrees - no good.

RE: Motor for Sig kadet, HELP!
Mine flys well with a 40 2 stroke. They are fairly heavy by todays standards as compared to arfs. Be carefull and get enough power to make it handle well.

RE: LHS Rant!
My LHS has been there for 50 yrs. He used to stock kits but now has mostly rc cars and trucks. I had him hang my Sig Kadet MKII with an Irvine engine, Futaba rx, battery, all servos, and a Futaba 4 ch transmitter with buddy cords. I was asking $250, He liked the plane - excellent condition, no crashes. But he sells foam park stuff and said people won't buy glow trainers. He was right; I donated to our club as a utility trainer.

RE: Looking for my 1st build.
No, kits do not include covering. Mostly because of color choice I think. Now you have opened a can of worms about which covering to use. There are many choices and I am sure there will be much discussion, to follow, about which is best.

RE: Looking for my 1st build.
A word of caution - as a new kit builder I would use yellow wood glue instead of CA. It is too easy to mess up using CA if you are not familiar with construction. I like Titebond II.

RE: Getting Sick of this!
I have built lots of kits and assembled a fair amount of ARFs. I was lucky to find a Lanier Laser 200 1/4 scale that I guess is an ARC and is really a challenge - foam wing to be sheeted, etc. What ever you want is OK; go fly!!

RE: (A Epoxy Cosmetic Question) Is there anyway to still resolve this?
You could try dissolving it with an acetone soaked cloth. You might try warming it with a heat gun first - warm not hot to disrupt your covering film.
