RE: my local hobby shop
If you had to pay say 10% more for a made in the USA vehicle you wouldn't? On a $200 vehicle it would be $20. And chances are the higher quality would save you that much on parts in the first month. And if the playing field was level and the stupid ass US politicians would make the same rules for products coming into the US from other countries as other countries apply to our products entering their countries most chinese products wouldn't be cheaper.

RE: my local hobby shop
Sorry I didn't have time to elaborate, I will now. I used to work in a machine shop. Foreign made metal was much harder to machine to close tolerances then US made metal. If you were boring a hole it would vary large amounts on the diameter. If you were putting a bend in a piece of sheet metal you couldn't keep the bend angle consistent. Switch to US made material and it was evident the consistency and quality was better. Ask any machinist or fabricator. Tooling that comes form china is usually cheaper to begin with but the tolerances are usually very loose, and it is seldom rebuild able so when it wears out you throw it away. US tool makers usually make the punching and cutting parts replaceable. In the long run a US made product is cheaper. I currently am a boat mechanic. In our store we sell a brand of paddle the same as wal-mart. It's the same brand and part # on it, but wal-mart's is made in china and ours in the US. The one we sell is close to twice as heavy(which is a good thing), the quality difference is absolutely evident. There are several hop-up companies that make their parts in the US and are very competitive with the overseas markets.
ORIGINAL: black mamba I there's a guy on eBay right now selling the same truck for $599 shipped.
Probably not an authorized dealer. I wander how the warranty will stand up if you ever have a problem. My lhs is usually lower than the internet. I do not shop with him I usually go to a lhs a couple hours away because they act like they want my business, while the other guy seems to think he's doing me a favor by taking my money. You have to offer me service not just be local. Could you imagine the number of jobs that the rc industry could generate here in the US if the stuff was made here.

RE: my local hobby shop
If everyone keeps buying from the lowest bidder before to long there will be no lhs. Without lhs you wont be able to see the new stuff first and people aren't going to get into the hobby from seeing something on the internet. Even if the tracks aren't run by the lhs they support it, even if not officially. People aren't going to get into the hobby from seeing something on the internet, they will if they can go in and see it and touch it, get some advice on it. Pretty soon there wont be enough people even to race. The American people keep demanding a cheaper product and that's what keeps getting made. People will look at a $10 item and a $20 item and it's obvious the $20 item will last 4 times as long and give much less trouble then the $10 item but they will buy the $10 item 4 times before they will buy the $20 and it will last forever. We put ourselves in the economic hole we are in. Pull your heads out people and realize it. I just about didn't get my kids into because all I say was chinese made junk being sold. It's absolutely embarrassing, as consumers we should demand better. I would love to see a boycott of these companies till they bring their manufacturing to the US. Or at least start a petition on all these different forums letting them know that's what we want.

RE: Man I'm starting to get really mad!
The hobby shop probably told you you have to replace the whole servo because they weren't going to wast 1/2 hour of their time or more to order a $2 part when a servo is only like $30. Time is money and spending 10 min on the phone with you checking if it's in stock, ordering it, calling you when it comes in, and then dealing with you when you come in, it just don't pay. I can't even imagine how low the mark up is in this business. I don't know how any lhs stay open.

RE: MRC THUNDER KING picture gallery
Anyone got a front nose piece they are willing to part with? It is the piece that the hinge pins go through to mount the front arms, the shock mount also bolts to it and then it bolts to the main chassis.

We got a pair of slashs and an old shower. I removed the shower head and put on a small piece of garden hose and a sprayer. Works great.

RE: Traxxas Slash 100th "RUN" Review
My kids got 2 for Christmas. When they are done running them they always look like unlucky 13's. I set up the shower down stairs with a spray nozel and we just hose them off every time. I don't know how you guys are running them on 7 cells. On the gravel street in front of our house you can hardly go full speed with a 6 cell without bringing the back end around. On the second pack we broke a rear hub carrier when one broadsided the other. And then yesterday we broke a front shock, the upper mount broke.

RE: Sportwerks Recoil 1/14 any feedback, suggestions?
We got one for my son last year for Christmas(got screwed since it's half price this year, thanks horizon). You have to have almost a perfectly smooth surface to run it. The expansion seams in a concrete parking lot are too much for it. You will have to replace the rubber tires with foam, the wheels that come with the rubber tires are crap and break very, very easily. The wheels with the foam tires are much better. Stock up on hinge pin mounts and get a different motor because the stock one will not last. RE: Tyco Terrainiac question
The 27 and 49 refer to the frequency of the transmitter. It has nothing to do with speed. If you want to run more than one you need different frequencies so they do not interfere with each other.
