RE: basic fot the first time
We are having a Introduction to IMAC Seminar in Danville, IN on Saturday, March 29th. Mike McConnville, Wayne Geffon, Will Berninger and others will be there to answer all questions about getting started in IMAC. We are concentrating on new guys and the Basic Class. Go to the IMAC website for details and a flyer(www.mini-iac.com). Bring your airplane. Weather permitting we will have Mike, Wayne and others help with learning how to fly the Basic Sequence.

RE: Seagull Superstar ARF legal for IMAC?
if the superstar was\is a full size aircraft, then it is legal in Sportsman and above. anything is legal in basic. in sportsman and above a pilot and panel are required and at most events it is a deduction if you dont have both. also if you have never flown in imac before, i suggest starting in basic for at least one or two events or until you can win or place high consistently.

RE: Hitec 5645 servos, Are they good servos?
i have them in my 30% Yak, on the wings and elevator. they have developed a lot of slop and one of the aileron servos stripped. i would recommend Hitec 5955's all around. Maybe a little overkill on your plane, but you can use them on anything. I have one on my rudder. Very good servo.

RE: Which Size Vess Prop?
ORIGINAL: Jaketab Thanks for replies. The DA 50 is well run in. The only 2 props I’ve used on this engine are the Bolly 22x8 and 23x8 on the 17.5 lb WH Extra. The 23x8 Bolly seems to be just ever slightly too much load. So I’m looking for something in the middle of the 2 mentioned. The prop will soon be transferred to a newer version SD-Models 50cc Yak. I’m hoping the Yak will weight in no more that 16.5 lbs. Jaketab
Thats about what my Yak weights as well. 23A for 3D and 23B for IMAC.

Prototype H9 Sukhoi 26
Mike flew a demo Sat night and Brendan Jones flew it in Sportsman(he won) at the NC Regional IMAC Finals in Wheeler, IN. Plane looks and flys extremely well. 97" wing. Flew it with a DA85 with cans. Mike says 21.75lbs.

RE: Which Size Vess Prop?
I switched to the Vess 23B for IMAC on my Yak 54. Perfect. Previously had the 23A and 22B. Motor is the 53cc 3MM TOC. The 23B gives the perfect blend of pull and braking. The 23A was too slow and the 22B was too fast. My motor tachs at 6900 rpm on the ground with the 23B.

RE: 40-50cc engine
3MM TOC 53 from www.dawghouserc.com. Excellent motor. I have been flying mine for almost a year now and have not had a single problem with it. Starts very easily, easy to tune and runs perfect. Excellent power. Not one dead stick landing all year. And the best customer service you'll find a DawghouseRC and Scott.

Retrofit or New?
Hey Mike. Should I retrofit my standard 9303 with a new 2.4 module and receiver or sell it and get a new 2.4 system? I fly IMAC with a 30% Yak, a couple small glow planes and a nitro heli. Does the retrofit perform any better or worse than a new system?

RE: any info about this? (cheap!)
listen to the experts here on rcu if you are asking whether a new engine is any good or not. they know exactly how it will run, what rpm it will put out on the ground, what airplane it would be best on and how good the customer service will be. pretty much anything else you want to know about it, without ever seeing one in person, let alone actually owning one and flying it. they are really amazing guys, you should listen to them.

RE: Taurus 52c engine worth $679??????
the original question was, is this engine worth $679 dollars. my opinion, no. no 50cc size model airplane motor is worth that much money. if you want to pay that kind of money for a engine knock yourself out.

RE: Dave Patrick Edge: To Buy or Not to Buy?
i concur. had one with a ZDZ 40. too heavy and not enough power for IMAC. you will never be able to get any replacment parts if you hurt it in a mishap. if its really cheap and you have a 1.60 or bigger glow, go for it, otherwise i wouldnt do it. too many other better and well supported planes to chose from. i sold mine by the way.

RE: 3W 55i Engine_Pros & Cons
i agree. i just dont understand why these people are still paying $500 to $700 for a little 50cc motor. you simply cannot justify it, although i know alot of you will certainly try.

RE: Taurus 52c engine worth $679??????
i dont work for any rc shop or manufacturer, and again i get nothing for free. i can guarantee you that in the next five years(maybe sooner) companies that are charging over $600 for a 50cc engine and over $600 for 50cc size airplane either wont be around or wont be selling those products anymore no matter how good their "customer service is or where the products are made". i commend a certain company for offering planes that were lower priced than the rest and were of pretty good quality so more people could get in to gas planes. i was in another hobby for almost 30 years that is nothing, and i mean nothing, like it used to be, as far as the number of people that could afford to particpate and number of entries at each event. the reason, the manufacturers kept raising prices until it was no longer affordable or enjoyable for the every day guy to participate or enjoy. if you want an exclusive hobby for, as i call them, rich bastards, then go ahead and buy from a company that charges $679 for a little 50cc motor. you can slam me all you want but the chinese are here with good quality, affordable products and the companies over here that handle it right will prosper. oh yea, if you are saying the overpriced motors are Mercedes and the good chinese motors are Kia's then i do have to conclude you dont know what youre talking about.

I see. So its ok for you to get free products and post on RCU, but when I post on RCU about products and companies I bought from(not given, payed for), I get booted out by the moderators. i also know who you are getting these products from. i will bet you money no one will ever see this very post. whatya think moderators? is there something wrong with this picture or have i just got it all wrong.
