RE: Antenna length question
I looked at Futabas website and it showed their antenna lengths to be different on each receiver. I kind of thought they would all be a standard length. I couldn't find these particuar receivers at all, must be discontinued. No biggie, probably just update them anyway. Thanks for the input boat guys!

Antenna length question
Hey boat guys! Airplane guy here. I recently picked up half a dozen various boats and all the receivers are "AM" which is fine, but the antennas are different lengths. The receivers are futabas r142je and r122je. Some of the antennas have been soldered on also. What would the correct length be on these antennas so I know if they're any good? One is 19".

RE: Painting floats
I ended up ordering two of the analog waterproof servos, one for rudder one for elevator. Pretty nice servos. They'll get the wettest. My water rudder is a little heavy so I'm using one, should work fine. For balance it will require 9.5oz of nose weight. That is with the weight on the tip of the floats! Gawd I hate to open up the floats and put them inside...probably just use some stick on weights to get me through the maiden at least. If it was blowing 100mph all weekend I could've maidened it. RE: Painting floats
Thanks scale! That's just what I needed. I also made my water rudders but I may only use one. The plane is kind of big though so I'll probably need both.

Thanks Charlie P. Just need to hook up some water rudders and water proof the servos and it's gonna get real wet! [8D]

RE: Painting floats
My painter rocks! I picked up my floats a couple days ago and am very pleased with the job. He clear coated over my graffix and it didn't hurt it at all. Looking forward to flying this stik off the water!

RE: Painting floats
That got me thinking..I have some cool stickers I want on them after he paints them. I'm guessing they need clear coated over so they don't peel off. Would the clear coat be fuel proof also?

Painting floats
I'm taking my floats in to be painted tomorrow. Is there anything I need to tell my painter as far as clear coating to protect the paint from glow fuel? I forgot to mention he is a bodyman and will more than likely use car paint.

RE: My ice boat
Hey guys, I changed things up some. I added a rear axle, wheels and springs for suspension. Also added some cool headlights and running lights. I also mounted a little on-board camera on the back for some cool video! This thing cruises around pretty fast in empty parking lots! It's great for getting my nitro-fix also. Now that the weather is getting a little nicer, I should get back to my unfinished projects that fly! [8D]

RE: Du-Bro Snow Skis
You need to use these little spring clip doohickeys mounted against a long screw in the wheel collar. That's how I did it anyway..There probably is a better way.

Skydivers rock! I bought one and he is so cool. I can't wait to drop him this summer. The only problem is the plane I was going to use is a gasser and I don't want my dude covered with exhaust! Now I gotta come up with an electric plane...I don't know shi...crap about electric planes. [:D] Guess I'll have to learn. [:)]

RE: My ice boat
Thanks guys for the comps! Hmmmm..a pusher, now that could be kind of cool! After building this "erector set toy" you guys and some of my flying buds have given me other ideas for it. My float flying partner suggested putting it on floats and using it for a retrieval boat. This evening I've made several different patterns for some side fins. It will look better with them on.. [8D]

RE: My ice boat
A few more pics.. The skis are very nice, ordered from maidenusa. I originaly bought them for an airplane. I tweaked the gear spinning tight cookies on the ice so a small repair is in order. I also have an on-board glow driver just because it's cool. [:)] Unfortunatly it had a broken wire so I had to use my glow driver. I can put wheels on this and give it a try also.

My ice boat
I call it that because right now there's no snow on the lake! I hate flying in 20deg. weather with 40+ winds so I built this for fun. I used mostly scrap metal out of my garage. Powered by a used Saito 1.80 I bought here on RCU. Servos are Hitec HS-805BB, plenty of torque! Test run was a success so now just some final tweaking and adjustments ans some cosmetic work.

Piper chuck-Thanks for the suggestion! flyinwalinda-I appreciate the link, I didn't think about doing a search for tiller arms. I ended up using nose gear drilled out carefully..like you suggested.

Need 3/16" nose gear source
I can't find 3/16" size anywhere. I have the one pictured here but it's for 5/32" wire. I might be able to drill it out but I still need a couple more. I don't know who carries this one either. Any help would be great.

RE: Seaplanes or Snow
Hey alasdair, These skies are from Dubro. They do fine, I did notice they sale different colors of them now. As for flying, they can be a bit of a pain to get set up correctly. After I took off, all three skis were pointing up at a 45deg. angle! I was sure I had them tightened too. I didn't even worry about trimming, I just flew until my fingers were numb.

This is a great thread, count me in! I've been working on a Dynaflite Spitfire for a while now. Wingspan is 81" and will be powered by a Saito 1.80. It's almost ready for covering.

RE: *Airtronics RD8000 2.4 GHz*
After seeing that picture I pulled the back off my tx and checked my wires. They all have a strain relief with a blob of silicone or sometning to keep it from pulling free. On another note, I realized that since I'm using duel elevator mixing, I can't get my left elevator to work on the fail safe function. That's not good at all. No way do I want to go back to a y-harness.

RE: DLE-20 in a Sig P51b (now with video)
ORIGINAL: TimBle Not wanting to tramp on the parade but that engine is just too big for the plane. That spark plug cap protruding out there in the prop wash just looks ugly and ruins the lines of the plane. Sometimes it just better to fit a glow engine  :(
Why do you even care? Are you going to be flying it? Lets see some of your awesome perfectly scale planes. [8|]
