RE: GAS Saito
Check fuel nipple on the carbulator. If it leaks, it is hard to observe.

RE: Saito FG-20
I found that MAXIMA Formula K2 (USA) probably is the best lube for SAITO FG ,after nearly 10 different lube had been tried. You can try it, if you were not so sure about your lube.

RE: Saito FG advice requested
Try this, detach fuel nipple on carburetor. Apply some liquid gasket on the thread and reinstall it. If it leaks, it will be very difficult to observe.

RE: Saito - Pro FG 14 Tips and tricks only!!!
Steven's Fg14 has been running about 6 hours (2-2.5 hours on test stand + 15 x 10 minute flights on Me109 and 15 x10 flights on spitfire). He was using orignial CDI on test stand and the frist 15 flights, and then we found that plug cap was damaged. Since SAITO did not supply this replacement parts(plug cap), that is why he had to shift to RCCDI. The original SAITO CDI is using a very special cap resistor and a tiny spring, so it is two contact points inside the plug cap. They make it so tight with plug, you will always put too much force on the ignition cord when you need to pull off. When ever you find the black heat shrink tube become lose, it mostly indicate you are about to say good bye to your CDI. Once it lose the high voltage cord will slip out, and it will be insufficient presure between contacts inside the plug cap. He is using APC 13x8 (9000rpm) on the spitfire.

RE: Saito FG-20
If your FG20 is still on the test stand, I suggest you change to side mounted.(main needle point to the sky) It is the best position for air to escape from the pump(if you ever disassembly the pump, you will know what I mean) To prime the fuel line, switch off CDI,open throtle 1/5, use your finger to block the velocity stack, turn your propeller till fuel just reach the carbulator and give 1-2 more turns, and no more.Power on CDI and start it. 3/32 ID fuel line is perfect for FG20.

RE: Saito FG-20
If your FG20 wouldn't reach 9500rpm by 15x6, or 8700rpm by 15x8 . Then I guess that you have air in the pump, see my previous post.

RE: Saito FG-20
Since your engine is new, I do'nt want to encourage you to disassemble the engine unless you have 100% confidence to that. You may take off the exhaust manifold then put a little thread in the exhaust port and let it pass through the valve stem and come out from the other side. Hold both ends of the thread with your two hands and do the push-pull to clean the vavle stem. Take off the rockerarm cover, and do the push and release to observe if valve moving freely. If it is too thick carbon there a sharp knife may be needed. I hope this will do some help. Good luck to you.

RE: Saito FG-20
I guess you have some carbon stick on the exhaust valve stem, so your exhaust valve cuold not close completely. That is also make your pushrod tend to fall out. Just guess, I saw similar condition before.

RE: Saito FG-20
A solution to FG-20 pump Many people are complaining FG-20’s pump can not deliver sufficient pressure for high speed. The reason is the structure of the pump (position of oil passage in oil chamber) can not pass the air out easily.(Pump can not create sufficient pressure when air exist in side) The solution is : 1.Start engine at low speed. 2.Turn the engine (or airplane) till full speed needle point to up right 90 degree and backward 10 degree. And keep that position for 20 second.(all the air will escape out of pump. If you do it right, FG-20 will run a Master 15x6 higher than 9300rpm. But I just hate to run a new Saito above 9000rpm.
