RE: Skymaster F-16 rudder flutter fix
With a 160N turbine I can see how this seems to work, however, I tried the same solution and still had flutter (the first time). The connection between the rod with the slot and the steel rod in the rudder is so short that even an extremely small mismatch will allow for slop, and we have seen this too many times - after a few flights (mine occurred after 40- 50 flights) any tape or glue wrapped around the rod will wear off or be compressed, and you will get flutter. There was a similar post here recently, and in that post I confirmed that the slot in my plane and the 3 others in Scandinavia were all placed the right way, and still we all had flutter - so my conclusion is: There is no way you will avoid flutter with the original setup. RE: 160 or 180+ on SM 1/6 F-16?
Chad - I flew the first 100 or so flights with a GBooster 160 and used all 3 fuel tanks + 1 liter of water, and the plane still flew very nice. Now I have a P180, and the power is just great, and fuel economy is even better. I would go for the P180, you don't need the extra couple of pounds thrust or that huge turbine, the 180 will drop right in.. Tor

RE: Best Quality Air Line
I buy all my air lines from Ultra Precision - multi-colored, flexible, can be installed and removed many times, work great even here in Norway (similar to Alaska, I guess) - never had them fail on any of my jets. http://www.up-1.com/tubing.html The home page doesn't say a lot, send them a mail and you will get all the details. RE: Project MFD..............
So you don't have to use any extra equipment - you just load the video into these units and play? If that is correct they are even better!! [:D] What kind of format can they play? I made the videos by filming the PC-screen with my videocamera, zooming in on a flight sim called A10 Lock On, the other one (flying over San Francisco) I made by filming the screen while scrolling Google Earth, then I edited it in Sony Vegas and put the symbols on top of the video.

RE: Fei Bao brakes
Yes, V - they are 33,0 mm x 5,0 mm or 1.299 (=1.3") by 0.197 (0.2") So 1.3x0.2 inches should be perfect

RE: Fei Bao brakes
Hehe - I guess you don't have to go by the metric system, just Google O-rings in your area, bring one of the O-rings from your brakes, tell them that the diameter of the rubber itself should be the same (approx 5 mm or 1/5 inch) and tell them that you want the next size smaller than yours in outer diameter. The company I got them from is Norwegian and does all its business here. Tell me if you can't find any and I will check if I can get some for you, but you will have to get a metric ruler and check the outer diameter on yours.

RE: Fei Bao brakes
Kevin - I tried blocking one hole and just using one O-ring - the problem is that the original rings are simply too big, so they touch the inside of the rim even when there is no air pressure. Just the smallest amount of air still makes it brake very hard or lock, so again: The solution is to change to slightly smaller O-rings.. Tor

RE: Fei Bao brakes
I think the easiest way is to simply replace the O-rings with a set that is 1 mm smaller outer diameter - mine work perfectly now, and for the first time both wheels spin freely and brakes work nice and proportional (on my living room floor, at least!!) The O-rings cost $2 a piece, that's 8 dollars for the full set!! Can't beat that! [:D] Tor

Fei Bao brakes
Hi guys! I am the proud owner of a Fei Bao F9F Panther, but have had some serious problems with the gear which was 1. generation. This week, I received a new set of frames and cylinders for the retracts from Fei Bao, and finally the legs stay inside the plane on positive G manouvers!![:D] Great service!! Now that this problem was out of the way I had 3 flights with 7 landings last Saturday, and found a few other, small problems: The legs would twist in the retracts on almost every landing, after the brakes which are much too tight would lock the wheels. The brakes were lubed and checked several times, but they would still lock every time. Today, I visited an O-ring supplier and bought 4 pc. 33x5mm O-rings, these are 1 mm smaller outer diameter than the originals. The result: Perfect braking! [:)] For extra measures, I also drilled a small hole into the retract where the leg goes in, made 3mm threads and screwed in a 3mm set screw with locktite. Now, if only this sleet and snow would stop, I could go out and test it - it seems perfect now - even added a gyro on the nose wheel and rudder! Tor

RE: Fuel tank Plumbing
I have had 2 SM F-15's and have always (as with all my other jets) drained the tanks in series, never in parallell. There have been several problems discussed here about draining tanks in parallell, if the fuel lines are not exactly the same length, if the inner diameter of the lines or the clunks are not exactly the same and even the G-forces working on the plane will mean that you will never be able to drain the two saddle tank equal, and will end up with one feeding air into the main tank. [8|] With the correct fuel lines ( I use 6mm Festo between the tanks in the large jets and 4 mm Festo in the smaller ones) you simply can not get this problem with series plumbing, and this works from Wren 44 to Jetcat P180. There is no problem with too little flow, restrictions in the air feed from the first tank or lateral balance - so why create a potential problem for yourself? My 2c [:D] Tor

Another thought: If I make a template/mask or a complete model of the avionics panles in the new F-16 and place one large OLED-screen behind it, I will be able to make ALL the screens and gauges work - and looking correct in relation to each other, running real video.. and an easy installation as well, one 3" screen and one front plate! RE: New L-39 Savex with Wren 44 Gold
Thanks, João - I will make a video of the maiden, for sure!! Pete, I am using both Hitec HS 5125MG (elevators) and JR DS168 (rudder), as well as Hitec HS 85MG for ailerons and flaps. I use a 14 channel reciever as the Hitecs can not be connected with a Y-lead - I tried this on my first L-39 and they burned! I will be using one 6V battery pack, NiMh 2000 mAh for the receiver Tor

RE: New L-39 Savex with Wren 44 Gold
Ray - I haven't had my cockpit around for the last few days, left it in another car, but I will try to get it today and check the CG again! Here is the final result on the L-39 after adding some stripes and some old stickers from my first 2 jets - the F-16 SpiderJets!! [:D] Also, I opened up a small hole in the wing base and a corresponding hole in the fuselage, this way I get "hidden plumbing" as there will be no cables coming up through the hole in the wing and clogging the inside of the fuselage in that area. The holes are small and in the middle of the structure, and has no impact on the strenght of the construction. Tor

RE: Project MFD..............
Hi guys - I will soon be building another SM F-16 1:6, and will be making full video MFD's for it. I found these 1,5" OLED MP4-playing watches on a Chinese website, they are very clear and will play video in 65000 colors. They cost about $50 a piece, I got 3 of them for a bit of experimentation. The battery is supposed to last for 5 hours of video... we'll see about that! I'll keep you posted when I receive them, should be approx 2 weeks. Tor

RE: New L-39 Savex with Wren 44 Gold
Ray - I know the figures that Ilja has, and I think this plane probably flies great on both settings. Ilja has even said that this model is not at all critical on the CG - but I will check again tomorrow and send you an update! The neutral however is right where it flies straight and level, and it was the same with my first turbine, the Simjet 700, and has always flown great that way.. [8D]

RE: New L-39 Savex with Wren 44 Gold
Hi Ray! You will love the SU27 - it's a fast and agile flyer, and very easy to see, it feels like it grows in the sky! I have not used flaps or rudder on mine, there are no flaps and the rudders have been glued. I have missed them a few times in heavy crosswind. I am sure you will benefit from flaps, as this plane tends to come in rather fast, and if you come in slow it will not tip stall or anything, but will sometimes fall out of the sky from 10-15 inches! [:D] I have included some pictures here for you with the CG and the neutral - my throws are almost what you said, 40mm up and down as well as aileron function throws also 40mm each way. I fly with 50% expo, so the big throws are mostly for trying to do a Cobra or other fancy manuevers. Everything is measured from TE. It can take all the power you can throw at it, and is a real rocket on full throttle with the Gold! Good luck, and feel free to ask again! Tor

RE: New L-39 Savex with Wren 44 Gold
Hi Pete - no, I don't have the in-wing tank, I used 2 saddle tanks and one center tank giving me approx. 1.3 L fuel - I have flown approx 9 minutes with this setup and still had plenty of fuel left in the center tank. My last pipe was from Wren and I have ordered a new one, as their pipes actually increases thrust. The Jet A1 gear is expensive, but works great and looks good - I got mine from Al's Hobbies Jet Center. Just order one!!! [:D] Tor

RE: New L-39 Savex with Wren 44 Gold
Hi Peter - I would definitely go for the Wren 44 gold instead of the P-60 - the plane is lighter, faster (or so it seems!) and flies much better with the 44, and you get much better fuel economy. I flew together with a Skymaster L-39 at Dagali in Norway, and my little Savex (the first one) with the Wren was faster than the big one! I think Kjell Roger is going to sand his down and repaint it, you remember there were some Simjet 700 trademarks on it (burn marks!!) [:D][:D] It's one of the most easy, fun and uncomplicated planes you can own - and with a hazzle-free turbine, it's pure joy! Tor

RE: Question for Skymaster 1:6 F-16 Owners
He means this mod - if you do this just right, it works fine, but I had done one where the internal piano wire did not completely reach the end of the brass tube. The brass tube broke from fatigue - and FLUTTER again! I must admit that I did not silver solder the flat piece of metal under the brass tube.. Tor
