RE: Phase 3 Phoenix II 2meter EP glider
For what this is, it rocks. Out of box and flying in 30 minutes, who doesn't love that. With flexi-foam-everything, it's almost overpowered! Excellent bang for the buck. Once I get a handle on the pitchy-ness, it'll be a great glider.

RE: Phase 3 Phoenix II 2meter EP glider
Thinking of removing the washer and installing a shelf there with esc mounted to it. Then I could move battery more forward also.

RE: Phase 3 Phoenix II 2meter EP glider
Yes, balanced at black lines, 80mm from LE. I think it flies better w/2200 170 gram lipo instead of the 1500 110 gram lipo. Washer weight behind motor does smooth glide out even better. I have had 30 minute flights off plane. Still not a beginners plane. Does have a nasty tuck under from time to time, so always have to watch for it. Gliders we had in the 70's, you could set your TX on the ground for 10 minutes at a time and they'd just circle the field. Guess I have to remember that this is a $109 ibind with a aero sport TX added. Fun for $150 total for sure, but then again, I have servos that costs that.

RE: Phase 3 Phoenix II 2meter EP glider
Thanks, still adding weight to nose. Not what I'd call a smooth flyer. Getting 15-20 minutes of crazy flights - only using 50% of included battery. I bet better servos would help. But then I'd need a better glider.

RE: Phase 3 Phoenix II 2meter EP glider
Where are you guys balancing this beast? At 80 mm back, the thing does like 10 foot loops and no fun to handle. Today, I ran a 170 gram battery in place of the 110 gram battery and had a big metal washer over the servo area. It calmed down a lot. Still not what I'd call a floater.

RE: realflight help
Weird, having a plane listed, but not actual... after a week or so, 5.5 purged itself. Now I don't have it in the list anymore. I'm happy now.

How do you erase planes in 5.5? I know how to import them, now I want to know how to get them out of plane options.

RE: DSLR combo for wife - Xmas gift
www.dpreview.com/news/1002/10020207olysp800uzsp600uz.asp Thanks for the posts guys. Was just going to Nikon 5000 it and be done with the whole thing. However, I couldn't figure out the whole mm to Xzoom thing. I know the DSLR would probably net better end results, but the whole lens thing would get out of hand quickly. She already uses a 560uz and loves it. I see Olympus is coming out with a 800uz. I might have to check into it. That"s over 800mm on tele. Anniversary is in March.

63FZ trouble
having some engine trouble. 63FZ, OS 4 stroke plug, apc 13x6 prop. Top end 10500, low end too rich to get a decent idle. Diaphram looks good, plunger moving good, no trash in regulator. Good top end, usually good transition(but not always,) crappy loaded up low end. Regulator will continue to leak if set flush. I have it turned in ~ one turn. Low cleans up a bit if I have the low speed needle out almost all the way. I know I should have YS 20/20 fuel, but don't have it right now. Using Mach7 12 1/2% castor/synthetic. I have had other YS's run on this mix, am I missing something peculiar to this 63??? Thanks.

RE: 14K rpm out of a fox 46!
I bought 3 Fox .46's when they first came out, primarily because Fox literature stated 14,800 on a 10x6. All of these motors did turn 14,800 plus. I still have 2 of these motors left after all these years. I just finished a new fun fly and installed one of the Fox's. The stock muffler was hittting the land gear, so I modified a tower muffler to fit. The 10X6 is now turning 15,700! These are great motors and have many gallons of fuel thru them. They perform today just like they did in the 90's. I have never been able to start them without a starter though. The #3 Fox.46 was sold to a friend in 2002. It was on the front of a quickee with a full pipe, it tacked out 17,000 + on a 9x7 until it hit a lime rock road wide open.

balance problem
Hey guys, Finally got this plane to fly great. But I'm confused why it is flying good. I kept adding weight to the tail, until now it seems the CG is at 50% of the wing cord!!! Here's the initial problem. It wanted to go to the ground hands off. Inverted and level, same thing, go to the ground. Fly in a banked turn, pulls to the ground. You would think add tail weight. In a dive, with power, or not - flys straight. In a vertical climb, with power - flys straight. With the weight, flys ok. Without the weight, pulls to the ground with/without power. 7 pounds, 900 sq in wing Suggestions?

RE: Yankee Twister??
Ran across a Yankee Twister kit. Looks like a Fun Fly Plane with a V-tail instead of the standard tail. Anyone heard of these? \\\\ That's exactly what you have. It's a FF w/Vtail !!! Had any experience with this kit(plane)?? \\\\ Had one back in 94, it was a great plane. Had TT .36 w/pipe, It kicked a$$. This is NO park flyer! It'll FF with the best of them. I remember a FF event down in Ocala that had most limbo in 60 sec. I think I did 13 with this plane. Would you still be able to mix aileron/flaps/elevator with the V-tail??? \\\\ Depends on your radio. Mine had the elevators coupled to the ailerons -- elevatorons. Also mixed flaps to elevators, but didn't need to, the elevators are very effective. This was just an evoloutionary design from competition FF to the modern 3d planes of today. Build it!!! If you don' t like, build something else.

RE: fitzpatrick 61 pusher configuration
Stock muffler is too long to turn around, and use. For a adapter, I found a shop to make me one to fit a standard header - cost about $20. This is a good engine to use in pusher mode. It runs very well with it's tuned intake, and seems to handle hotter environments better.

RE: I need a Ring for Fox 120 Twin Fox Mfg broke mine!
Too bad for your Fox service. I've used Fox engines for 30+ years. I've sent at least a dozen back over the years to be rebuilt, and they have never charged me a dime. They always told me it was a known defect or an update. They also ran the engines before sending them back. Remember you get more with honey when dealing with companys. I had a few of the 120 in the past. I believe the eagle III rings fit also.
