RE: Powerbox iGyro
How long does you iGyro's GPS search for sattelites? Mine was turned on for about 30 minutes on the ground + 10min flight, it still shows "searching".. And nothing's shielding it.

RE: Powerbox iGyro
I have trouble binding the iGyro. I have PB competition SRS, JR 11X , and iGyro. The PB competition was previously bind to the JR. I connected the SRS to iGyro using 2 supplied serial leads, and moved the sattellites from PB SRS to iGyro. After that I changed the RX mode to S-bus on RX. I choose DSM2 as rx type on iGyro , digital out "on" ,and gave the "bind" command. After switching the receiver and iGyro off, it entered binding mode. When i release the bind button on 11X, the light is solid yellow on sattellites, but no commands go to servos. After switching off the RX, ant then on, i get blinking yellow on sattellites, but nothing useful happens.. The manual says to "insert bind plug on rx and then press bind on iGyro", but on competition SRS the binding is menu based and you cannot select bind when rx type is Sbus.. What am I doing wrong? Thanks, Ivar

RE: Best turbine, best service?
+1
ORIGINAL: John Tancock Jets Munt Merlin 90 or 100! Very well made, great service, loads of power, very good fuel economy and all made in house including the electronics! If you want simplicity go for the VT 80, the only external parts are the fuel pump and lipo! They are really popular here, and the following seems to be growing! Regards John
RE: Powerbox iGyro
ORIGINAL: Richi-d Hello, the Software V08 is working good. Just one thing: don´t press "BIND" if you didn´t select DSM2 or DSMX receiver system before! Else you have to send the unit back!
Why didnt I read this 10 hours before- its exactly what I did last night. Selected sbus for cockpit SRS, then selected "bind", It told me to power off, and off it is. So there is no way to reset it without sending to factory? Regards, Ivar

RE: Composite-ARF Rookie II
I have Nano and FB L-39 ,now decided to try something 3D capable.. I'm going with Merlin 140, jet 1-A gear, 3.2L tank, and plan to use the powerbox igyro. I havent decided on elevon servos- wether to glue the elevons together and use 2 graupner 9818 monster servos (405N/cm), or 4 smaller servos. Are you suggesting to keep it more tail heavy for easier landings? Fortunately I have unlimited runway - 2000m x 60m , former military airfield. All the best, Ivar

RE: Composite-ARF Rookie II
ORIGINAL: DrScoles I flew my rookie three times yesterday and finally got the landings dialed... thanks Roberto! Can't wait to start playing with the vectored thrust. Mike, how do you mix the canards for landing. you said 85 degrees down? I've read about it in the past, what does the plane do when you flip that switch?
A bit of information about the radio mixes would be very useful indeed, I'm starting my Rookie 2 build next week and plan to proceed as fast as possible.

Hi All, a practical question- what gyro would you suggest on Rookie's thurst vector unit? I'm currently thinking 2x Futaba GYA351 or 1 GYA352.. All the best, Ivar

RE: Kingtech K80 F Start Up.
How did you start it? On Jetcat I can leave throttle to max position during startup, on Merlin i must move the throttle to maximum position and back to idle, otherwise the ecu will start vent/cooldown instead of startup. I belive Kingtech and Merlin use the same type ECUs. Best regards, Ivar

RE: Jet Munt VT80 first runs
ORIGINAL: Jgwright The VT80 is a superb engine and I was pleased to be present when the VT80 for RCJI was tested. John
I continue to be amazed by the engine - I had 4 flights this weekend with my VT80, (ok , two 5min flights and 2 taxiings ), total 4 starts, -2 celsius outside, total consumption was 620 mAh from 2S lipo .. In comparision I can get 2 starts from the same battery with P60 kerostart and on the 3rd i might get voltage error.

RE: Jet Munt VT80 first runs
ORIGINAL: Xairflyer
ORIGINAL: Duncan ok so your statement of ''filling via a UAT means any crud in your fuel bowser is put straight into the main tank on the wrong side of any filter in the tank.'' is invalid as no crud can get through your 5 filters. So the UAt doesn't have to filter anything, just stop bubbles as it's designed to do. Not being argumentative for the sake of it Mike, just curious [;)] Cheers Duncan
What mike is saying, everyone fills into the UAT, the fuel goes out the UAT into the main tanks, to get into the main tank it has to go in through the feed/clunk pipe, so why have a felt or other type of filtered clunk, all you are doing id forcing dirt into the inside of the clunk. The purpose of a felt clunk is to stop dirt getting into the fuel line. If you use a UAT you dont need a filtered clunk unless you add a fill pipe to the main tank.
The reason I'm using a felt clunk is that it's supposed to reduce the bubbles- yes,the UAT does the same thing, but a little redundancy isnt a bad thing.. It makes the clunk also a bit softer, I dont like something hard and heavy to bang my glass-fibre tank :)

RE: Jet Munt VT80 first runs
ORIGINAL: Jprice57 So, I've got a VT-80 coming from Dreamworks with a P60 fod screen. This is my first turbine.. I'm curious what those running it are using in there fuel system setup. A small break down would be great. Just looking to make sure I setup things correctly. Thanks...
Cant be much simpler - felt clunk, sullivan S479 fuel tank fitting, BVM UAT , Jets-Munt filter, pump and the engine. Large tygon tubin until the UAT and the tubing that came with turbine after uat. I'm filling through UAT and quick connect filler valve - www.motorsandrotors.com/index.php

RE: Jet Munt VT80 first runs
I had my first flight of the new year. It was also a nice test of the VT80 in colder climate (temp ca -1 ). As I was out of kerosene, I decided to try diesel fuel. I used jetcat turbine oil and normal "Arctic" diesel fuel (rated to -35 celsius ), absolutely no difference in starting or run. Maybe a bit more smoke at shutdown.

RE: Are Printed Magazines worth Buying
For me they are still useful. In a country where there are only two jets, both mine :) , they are very popular at meets and people can see in a compact form whats available out there and might consider getting one for themselves. Regards, Ivar

RE: Boomerang Nano!!!
Crashed my nano last friday. During my second flight of the day it behaved strangely - a lot of pitch inertia, like flying with ca 100% expos, and stalled at the final turn: Everything seems to be OK expect the nose.. Last picture shows my new "hybrid" version..

RE: C&C Models L39
I ordered the LG a bit later than the airframe, so the only picture I have is from cmodels homepage - cmodels.it/modelli_jet/foto/L39%20RETRACT%20KIT.jpg I take camera tomorrow and take a picture of the LG mounts, seems durable enough for me. I plan to use cmodel oleos and wheels and eflite retracts.

C&C Models L39
I'm started to build a C&C Models L-39 . Its very similar to Fei Bao L-39, but lighter (airframe weight 3200 grams). The model came well packed, and the quality seems quite good. Unfortunately, it comes without manual, only a picture with COG location. I'll try to use the Feibao manual when possible. I'm going to use DS3288 servos on all flying surfaces and Merlin VT80 to power it. lisa.chem.ut.ee/~ivar/l39-big.jpg
