RE: AUTO ROTATIONS...
Yeah I understand you are not killing it, but mentally you are killing it and gravity is now your co-pilot. At least for me it is a difficult thing to do. Once you do it a few times I am sure it is a no brainer. Thanks again for the link.

RE: AUTO ROTATIONS...
Thanks for the link Rafael!!! I know autos are something I need to do, but killing the motor in mid-flight just scares the bejebers out of me. Some day very soon I will have the guts to hit the button. Until then let's pray for perfect flights!!!!

RE: new battery and charger
Cheap batteries and a good charger! My recommendation on this would be to look into the Mystery batteries that are all over ebay. I have a few of them and run them all the time. I think I paid $28 for 2 (11.1 2280mah) with free shipping. As for a charger I have been using this one for a few years and love it http://www.xheli.com/thac6bachwac.html

RE: Auto stabilization? really work?
Here is a video from onboard the same heli that has the co-pilot. You can see about 2 min in it is pretty high and pretty stable even with a slight breeze. Just wish the camera was working better on it. http://www.youtube.com/user/cricketwebguy1#p/u/0/Y1TK7z72KtI

RE: Auto stabilization? really work?
I got it installed and was flying within an hour. I have a dx6i and placed it on my 450. Programming it took about 5 minutes and that was only cause I kept reading the instructions over and over because I figured it couldn't be this easy. I bought the combo 2, I think shipping was about $15

RE: Auto stabilization? really work?
I know you asked about the flymentor and I don't have experience with that, but the reviews seem to be mixed. I personally use the FMA CO-pilot II and have since it was released about a year ago and I love it. Even better I have not crashed since it has been installed. It has saved me from soiling many pairs of underwear!!!! There is no guarantee of not crashing but it is sure nice to have that second chance!!!!

RE: Mystery or Turnigy?
Can't speak for turnigy but I have bought about 6 different mystery batteries from sellers on ebay. I have never had a problem with any of them. I am a scale flyer so not sure how they would fair with 3D.

RE: XHELI The Best Choice??
I have placed numerous orders with them for a few years now and have never had that happen and always received their products on time and in good shape. I am sure as someone said that they are just verifying because something didn't jive. I if you call them they would probably tell you why they are asking. As for things being out of stock that is the only bad thing I have to say about them. I have gotten into the habit of asking them on the chat when they are expecting a new shipment. You have to ask them more than once to get a good idea of the truth, then keep your eyes posted on the site. Things go fast.

RE: Helimax Axe CPv3
dragus, I have the 401b on my 450's as well as I installed one on my cpv3 when I had it. I think it is a great gyro. I do scale flying so not sure how it performs in 3d, but I have read and seen some very positive reviews.

RE: Helimax Axe CPv3
It is a twitchy bird but if you can get the hang of it you can fly anything!!! I started with a blade cp and couldn't fly it to save my life. I got a cpv3 and was hovering within minutes. If you move the servo rods closer to the servo head it will be easier to fly. As for parts the main rotor blades will move over. The best part is the tail motor from the new cp2 pro will work. Helimax charges $30 a motor and you can get the cp2 motor for $8. At the rate they melt down you can get 3 for the price of one. I used a number of them in my cpv3 before I got rid of it.

RE: Batteries and Charger! Need help boys!!
Stephen, Since you are new to the hobby don't go buy the expensive batteries! More than likely you will crash and damage a battery and it will be a waste of money. I have been buying my batteries on ebay for years from sellers go_market and abeyer and have never had a single problem http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160343600733&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1901wt_939 Get 2 of them shipped to you for under $30. Once you get into 3D then you will want to consider the high end batteries. As for the TX I run the Dx6i and love it. That's my 2 cents

RE: axe CPv3 tail motor problems
hmmm look at the LPM board (you might have to break the cable ties to split the two boards apart and see if you have any burnt marks. Guess you could smell it first to see if there is any hint of it being fried. This is a pretty common problem. If your LPM board is shot it will cost about $80 to fix it and you might be better off just buying a new heli.

RE: axe CPv3 tail motor problems
This is pretty typical for the cpv3. This is why I got rid of mine. I was spending more on tail motors than the heli was worth. The motor just gets too hot and seizes. One thing I did that made my motors last a while longer was make sure the motor cooled completely between flights. The only thing I recommend would be to stock up on the e-flight motors http://www.rcslot.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=rcslots&Product_Code=EFLH1322 They run $7 instead of the $30 that helimax charges and are the same thing. They are also probably more readily available at your LHS Good luck and happy flying

RE: Xheli.com whats up with them?
There are a number of people out there who have had problems with them, however I am more inclined to think it is generally a buyer issue. I have ordered about 15 times from them and only one issue. When I notified them of it they fixed it and I was back on my feet within 4 days. I tend to agree with Raycamaro and they are just slammed with the holidays.

RE: FMA Direct Co-Pilot II Stabilizer
Rhizzlebop, I bought the co-pilot II as soon as it was released and I don't regret it one second. The number of times it has saved my butt it has paid for itself a few times over. I have not crashed my heli since it has been installed. Granted I am not a 3D flyer. There is no need for an additional channel to operate the co-pilot. The additonal channel is only needed if you want to turn the unit on and off remotely, otherwise it is on all the time. For a pilot with not a lot of experience that is a good thing.

RE: li-po batteries
Two bit okie, Yes lipos are picky. If you don't follows their rules you will go through them in a heartbeat. You never want to run a lipo down or it will never work again and might even explode. With a 1000mah lipo you will probably only get 4-6 min of flight time. I would get at least 2200mah. This will get you 6-8 min depending on many differnt things. Don't overdischarge it and you will get pretty good life span out of them. I personally buy them from ebay. I get 2 2200mah batteries for $28 free shipping. They are not top of the line, but for hovering, scale flying they work perfect and should something happen to one it isn't such a loss. I have bought many and have yet to have one not work like a champ.

RE: New guy question on the Blueray 450
I personally have two of these and LOVE them!! I have the TREX 450 as well but it sits on the shelf most of the time. It isn't as high quality as the TREX but flies every bit as good. You will probably get the people who will respond with the negative remarks but I have 2 of them and they see more fly time than the other birds. Sure there are a few parts that are not up to snuff, but those are parts you will more than likely break in a crash anyway so you can upgrade those when and if it happens. To get started with I don't think it is a bad machine at all As form manuals there really isn't a need for any. There is a manual for the controller online, but that is all you will need. Mine flew perfect out of the box. Get a few spare batteries and a good charger.

RE: Hot battery with Helimax CPv3
I agree with Druss! The Axe cpv3 does come with a regulator that drops the current so you know when it is time to get out of the air, but in my opinion you shouldn't even be getting to that point. I always got about 6 min of flight out of my battery (1800mah) which left me enough time to get it down before any damage was done. I would quickly get rid fo those batteries and start over with a fresh one. Don't want to turn your heli into a flying fireball

RE: bought secondhand honeybee. is this movement normal?
Luckily that part is cheap to replace and if you are new to the hobby you will want to pick up a few spares as you will bend/break your fair share of these.

RE: bought secondhand honeybee. is this movement normal?
If it was a bird it would be normal but this is definately a broken spindle shaft. If the other blade wasn't sturdy I would say it was missing one altogether. Once you pull it apart I would check the other parts in there to make sure nothing else is broken.

RE: Glitching = crash, any reccomendations?
My two cents tells me that the cause of the twitch might be the chicken pot pie in the microwave. If you are still on FM you are at the mercy of so many things like microwaves, anything electrical. I used to have an axe cpv3 than when in the house or in my neighborhood would just twitch like it was having a seizure, took it out to the park or out in the open and solid as a rock. You don't have to get Spektrum or Futaba or anything highend just any radio that is 2.4 ghz will do the trick. Do I suggest you get a good radio... yes! They aren't that expensive. I bought my spektrum dx6i of ebay for $108 and love it. You might have other issues going on that is causing the fits of excitment in your bird, but I would bet it stops if you take it out to the field. Also check all your connections see if they are loose. Good luck!!

RE: Helicopter camera question
I also remember reading somewhere once that mounting it directly under the frame so it is basically hidden from the rotors helps. I have not done it as my camera died as I was about to try it. If I can find the link I will post it.

RE: heli problems
Donnie, The first thing I would check is to make sure the gyro is not reversed. If it is reversed it will sense the motion and try to correct but it will be correcting in the same way as the motion so it quickly spins out of control. As for the Axe cp I would take notice of the position of the servo horns in neutral position. THen take off the servo horn and move it one or two notches in the opposite direction to bring the blades more center. The other solution would be to get a head leveler from the hobby store and straighten that guy out.

RE: XHELI
Cut your losses. You will find many people on here with similar experiences. I personally have been ordering from them for over a year and have had one minor problem. I went to the support forum they ask you to use and the issue was resolved new part in hand within 3 days. The customer service problem is on xheli plate, the artec brand at best is not very good so use that as a learning experience and move on. Happy Flying!

RE: Newbie Questions
Hawksbill this next step is critical for you now that you have the itch to fly. If you get a junker you will sink a bunch of money into it and decide to call it quits. Don't skimp on what you buy. To anser your question here is my two cents: 1. Buy plenty of blades. You can never have too many expecially as a new flier. 2. The blade grips will generally brake when the blades do. Don't upgrade to metal/aluminum parts until you are a decent flyer. It only makes repairs that much more expensive. In addition there are certain parts you want to have break. If they don't then they end up bending more parts meaning more repairs. 3. I would buy at least 2 main shafts. Again anytime you break a blade there is a good chance the main shaft will bend. Even though you might not see it, you will notice in flight 4. A good lipo charger There is more but this should be enough to chew on. Your first option might be to get a good simulator. They are not a lot of fun but the money you will save on parts is priceless. This will also help now that we are coming into winter and you will not be doing much flying in Detroit in the winter. Get your skills up and then buy a heli in the spring.

RE: Still having battery puffing problem with Trex 450 se v2
Broken Blade, How long are you flying for? If you are flying for more than 6-8 min on a battery especially a 850mah battery, you are draining the battery too much and it is causing it to puff. Could also be a charger that isn't charging it properly and causing some issues, but nearly all the time it is flying too long on a charge. The time is not a magic number just a good guage. This will vary based on your flying style, weight of the help and numerous other things. Just my two cents
