RE: Getting kinda bored...
Get an RC in a Class you don't have. thats what i did (: , i'm also pretty young, 17. i have no one to bash or race with honestly. but i bought my sc10, im loving it, and i will soon start going to the track to have some fun with it. been researching and found 5 tracks near me that are 28-38 minutes away. I wish there was a track closer... I tried to get my brother into the hobby too, he bought a tt01 to drift with my tc3 but he doesn't even touch it after the first 2 weeks honestly. Thats why i got my sc10. a track about 30 minutes away has indoor carpet offroad and a concrete drift track. Which made me want to buy the sc10 even more, can't wait to start going. OH YEAH. If you want also you could look into VRC. You probably heard of it, rc simulator. They came out with Offroad Short course trucks recently and its a lot of fun and would help improve your skills. ive been playin alot of VRC and after 2 days of playing it, i can go through tracks with so much more ease and quicker. honestly does help improve, and it has been raining here in florida everyday and like all day. 35$ not to much to ask for a simulator that is fun and improves your skills. You can meet people, make clubs and join clubs, race, practice, etc. Another thing for you to do to keep your love of the hobby alive lol

Hey, could anyone link me to the correct part i need? I started to hear the clicking noise and searched around and guess its the diff. I need to shim the diff. Also, i should just add a shim to where this is a shim already or what? Could someone explain it to me better?

RE: What's Your R/C Story
Well, my grandpa (mom side of family) was huge and widely known in brasil where he flew his Custom built (all by him by hand) RC airplanes. He would sell some, fly some, keep some. My dad, was always into RC airplanes when he was really young, he was in his late teens and early twentys and met my grandpa at the RC flying place. They began to be friends even though they had a age difference, my dad always had older friends. Well my dad fell the grandpas daughter and the rest is history. When i was little, i always went with my dad when he would fly his RC airplanes. Me being the different one, was not that intrigued by airplanes and wanted to get into RC cars. My dad bought my an LST2 for christmas one year. After a while i realized i'm just not a nitro person. After a while of torture in tweaking my LST2 (god i hate nitro still.. first RC car nitro, will never go back to it lol), few months after i bought a used electric TC3. I wanted it for drifting, got into drifting for a bit. i stopped all together for a while as so did my dad with his planes. About a year or so of my TC3 accumulating dust, not too long ago, i began to just have that want to drive it. Well since that began i am now here with another RC that i bought, my SC10. I love my 2 electric RCs now and can't wait to start racing with my sc10 as i have yet to actually race with it. Unfortunately my grandpa passed during 2011. RIP grandpa, started the RC in my family and i hope to keep it alive for when i have kids.

RE: Lipo batteries, 25c vs 40c
ahh, no problem man. So you also think i should just go for the 25c one huh lol. its like 2 for the price of one. they are both good, and i don't have to resolder for it to have deansplug . so i was like hmmm... such a good deal, but i don't want to lose out on performance and be slower than others or something just becdause i skimped out on 17$ you know.. if it was like , you will most likely not win if you use that battery. then i'd just spend the extra cash.

RE: Lipo batteries, 25c vs 40c
I know what it does. The thing is, there are somethings that sometimes are better, but not that noticible and not worth the extra bucks or double the money unless i was doing some serious racing. i do plan on racing at a club level for some fun, as rc alone is never as fun as it is with others. i do like to win, and i do strive to get better and tweak my rc to be better. but im not here to spend things that are not needed also, so i was just wondering if it was a noticible difference between the two.

RE: Lipo batteries, 25c vs 40c
Well im running an SC10 with 13.5 novak balistic sensored, with lrp sphere digital esc. Was wondering if the 25c vs 40c was gonna be durastically different. I actually recently got the sc10 setup as i bought it used from someone, but it was incredible condition for a steal and i always wanted an SC. I don't have any 2s lipos, i run 3s on my tc3. I'd be running my sc10 alot in the backyard with mowed grass but also indoor offroad carpet track and occasionally at a dirt track. And i know that 33 dollars for a good gens ace battery is a great price... my 3s for my tc3 i remember was like $200 back in the day lol. But i've been wanting to get a lot of new things, as now i have something that i am interested in actually going to the club with etc, so wanted to get some better tools etc etc. also i know that i need to buy new tires/wheels as mine have slicks on them atm for clay tracks. was hoping to try those slicks on carpet to see how they run , wanted some trenchers for the tall backyard grass, and most likely in the future will need another pair of tires that are better suited for the dirt track. As we all know, tires + wheels are pretty dam expensive, so saving some money on something that i won't see the difference is worth it for me, but i also didn't want to get the 25c and hate myself for it and then in a month from now buy the 40c.

RE: Bringing my Son into the Sport...Advice?
I feel that for kids, the best starting brand out there is traxxas. I personally don't own any traxxas as of right now, as i am not a huge fan of them. Even with that being said, i think traxxas is THE brand that most younger people should start out with. They have GREAT durability, and a HUGE part support and good customer care regardless what car/truck you get from them. So he won't break it easily, if he does, there are loads of parts all over the internet and hobby shops and you can get parts on ebay cheap and will always find them. Not only that, if he really gets into the hobby, and likes to mess with the car/truck and modify it or do upgrades... traxxas has a lot of easy modding for better performance.

Lipo batteries, 25c vs 40c
Hello, recently i've been wanting to pick up 2 new batteries for my sc10, im running a 13.5 sensored novak motor. I have been looking into batteries and such, and there are two brands im willing to buy from. Gforce and Gens ace. The thing is, Gforce has their 2s 5000mah 25c for only $17!!, and the gens ace 2s 5000 mah 40c is about $33. Plus i kinda don't want to have to get gens ace and need to resolder it because i use deans plugs. Honestly, will i see the difference between the 25c and the 40c that greatly? Should i get the 25c, and save a GREAT amount of money, and use it towards other upgrades or new tires that i will be needing soon anyways. The whole 25c vs 40c. i understand that obviously more C rating is better, but the 25 and 40, will i actually be able to tell a great deal difference to where its almost double the price?

RE: New tool set
Yeah, i wouldn't ever rag on anyone for using/buying hudy tools. They are expensive, but they are good nonetheless. I just don't have that kind of money to spend on something like that. And buying general tools instead of RC tools also isn't supporting the hobby. If everyone bought general tools thats a big chunk of money that the RC brands wouldn't have, the hobby we all know and love sadly just isn't as big as we feel it should be. So supporting the hobby/brands of the hobby by buying their products is good even if your getting a bit ripped off, i see it as just supporting the hobby by spending a few extra bucks, same reason why people go to LHS instead of all online (though i am cheap and buy most of my stuff online). If you have the money to spend then why not, your getting quality plus supporting it, if you don't then do what you have to do and spend wisely.

RE: New tool set
The thing is. i feel that like for instance, this mcmaster-carr tools.. are like 3 dollars each. they are not made/branded for RC, they are general tools but are the exact same thing for instance. (im not tlaking about quality of metal/material cuz that differs between every brand) the thing is, tools like this is better quality than the tools that are same priced but are branded for RC. Know what i mean? If you want GOOD tools that are RC branded, your going to spend alot of money, the cheap ones are horrible and the mid price is ehh. General tools that do exact same things that are also drivers etc just doesnt have that RC logo, will be better than the RC ones that are the same price. Thats how i feel about it.

RE: New tool set
ORIGINAL: porterdog You can buy individual wrenches in several styles from McMaster-Carr. They're good quality, (L-keys are American made, the screwdriver-type I got were European), reasonably priced, and you don't need to get a full set unless that's what you want. McMaster aren't the cheapest, but I've never gotten anything junky from them and their ship speed cannot be touched.
Wow! mc master, all the hex wrenches i need (long set) and only like 10 dollars buy getting them individually. Are these really good? There tips and stuff dont break/strip things?

Really?? I've read a lot recently that the driver gets worn out and it just doesnt hold up/ can't put too much pressure or it will just strip or w.e.. , or that tips break on like first time use. That got me really scared of buying it, so seeing that you used it for 3 years now and its fine? Now i don't know what to do lol. RE: New tool set
I understand where your coming from. If i was already a racer, or w.e the i understand. But, i don't have the money to spend right know on a extremely good set like a huddy... I just don't have the money, it is an expensive hobby i know. I got a sc10 that i wanted to start racing and going to the track, and stuff and i just don't have the money to buy expensive tools as of right now. With that being said, i can drop 20$ on tools, i can't go and drop 15$ per tool. I understand if you want quality go spend it, but i was just wondering if it was worth me getting that because 20$ for a FULL toolset of all the tools that i need for my rc cars, if they work and don't break in a month or so then it would be fine you know? If not, I will go to a store that sells tools and buy tools there that i need that might be better quality than the cheap rc branded tools because normally *no offense* rc branded tools are overpriced..... and we all know that lol, huddy tools for instance. yeh people buy them because they work and they are good, but honestly they could be sold for cheaper. But they don't need to be because people are buying them and that's how they make money...
ORIGINAL: JohnP2 I own that tool set (but have the metric one). It is decent enough. Changing out the drivers can be a bit of a pain (it's not that fluid), and the loops in the pouch that hold the drivers are so tight I usually have to pry it open further with some needle nose pliers to fit the driver back in....but it does get the job done. I would recommend it for the price.
Thank you for being the only one to actually post something that i was looking for about the product that i linked..

RE: New tool set
Yeah i have been reading a lot and i have never owned "RC tools" . We have a lot of tools, my grandpa and my dad have been into building (100% creating their own, not buying kits) airplanes and much much more and we don't have a single rc tool in my house. It is just that i was tired of grabbing others tools and decided it was time to actually get my own special set to keep for just me in my rc box you know... I think i'm going to go to a hardware shop and look at what they have. I understand that some of the rc tools may be good, but i know that it isn't better than high end tools that people use to make a living with or they would be using better tools lol. Only thing i see in RC tools is honestly, for the flash and bling of it/ it being a good size and long/narrow to get into those tight squeezes and I didn't know if any of the hardware shops carried tools that would be like hex wrenches that are the similar style to rc tools. I've read that a lot of brands of rc tools will ball, strip, and even break very easy unless you want to put out a lot of money, and i'm not paying for a set of tools that are going to be the same price or even more than my motor. I was just seeing if there were any cheap RC tools that were actually reasonably priced, the dynamite one that i link is a good price i feel in general. If it is good or not, i don't know, but i feel that it should be like the standard price for a ok or pretty good tool set for around the same price. All in all, anyone have anything to say about the dynamite produce i originally linked?

New tool set
Well i was thinking that it is time for me to get a tool set. I can't spend a lot of money and go out and get a hudy set. So i was looking into something like this http://www.dynamiterc.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=DYN2835, it has all the tools that i would need and aslong they don't break soon then they will do the job for me, Can anyone vouch for these? I didn't want to get them and break. I was thinking it might be either this or going to a store that sells tools for general use.

M11, module help
Hello, i have an M11 with a 93724 2.4ghz module. Because of that i am using a 92724 dss reciever. Problem is, airtronics doesn't make DSS recievers anymore, and i can't find any recievers to buy. I am gettin a new RC soon and wanted to use it with my M11 and i just can't seem to find a 92724 reciever anywhere. Should i switch to a different module? I am on a low budget, so spending a lot on a new module and then 2 recievers is going to be a lot.

RE: Can't decide what to do, a weird xxx-sct vs sc10rs post.
well, do you have any other help with helping me choose what to do? xD. lol, original post, i have 3 options that i've been thinking of. sc10 rs, all stock etc but will be really touching that max budget so yeh.. i always like to have some money extra incase i need something or for repair like immediately, because ontop of the price i need to buy new reciever. so it would be like 350 ish.. or i can get a xxx-sct roller that is cheap atm (130) and buy electronics that are bang for buck, like tacon and ezrun or find stuff on ebay. and most likely end up being same price range as the sc-10 rs, or i could get the xxx-sct stock for like 180$ , then i can easily get my reciever and have somewhat money for upgrades when i need it, (tacon motor only like 20$, and the esc is fine, just runs hot. so i would get a fan for it which is 9$.) cant decide what to do lol.

yeh i own a tc3 which i use for drift, and i have a lst2 that i havent used in years because i hate nitro and i feel MTs are useless. so this is pretty much my second main rc i guess? and thanks ill look into those batterys, me and my brother need few new ones so this will save us alot of money , thanks a lot! Also, i thought the gens ace ones do come with a deans plug, the one i linked. on their site they have two, one that has direct connector, and then the other one doesn't so i was guessing that it was a deans plug?

Can't decide what to do, a weird xxx-sct vs sc10rs post.
Hey, well i am deciding between buying an sc10rs, or a xxx-sct. the thing is i found this, and i put up a setup and would like you guys to help me out, would this setup be good for the money or should i just go off and get an sc10 rs? xxx-sct rolling chassis - $130 free shipp Tacon 3650, 4420kv - $24 free shipp Hobbywing ezrun-sc10 esc 70a- $65 free shipp gens ace 5000mah 2s 40c lipo - $36 free shipp Savox sc-1258tg servo/hitec servo/cheaper servo-$60 or less OVERALL, it would come to be about 300-315$ or a bit cheaper depending on what servo i get and if i can get a cheap one off of ebay. Not including the reciever for my M11 2.4 , but i didn't include that because i will be buying that regardless of what i buy. So an xxx-sct with those specs for $300, or i i could possibly do sc10-rs RTR - $270 free shipp Gens ace 5000mag 2s 40c lipo- $36 free shipp OVERALL, would be a stock sc10 rs with a 2s lipo, for about the same price as the 1st kit. or stock xxx-sct- $180 free shipp gens ace 2s lipo- $36 free shipp OVERALL, stock xxx-sct with 2s lipo, i could then easily buy my reciever and have left over money a bit and get a tacon motor and stick to the stock esc and get a fan for the esc ($9) for it and keep it running at a good temp as i heard it runs hot. this would mean i can keep some money for suprise breaks/tweaks and small upgrades here and there if i feel i need it, more of the budget build. I can't really decide what to do, as i am on a tight budget, i feel that the sc10rs will end up being more money, because i would want to upgrade the motor and tires fast due to them not being good, while the xxx-sct stock tires aren't that bad and im not spending as much for a motor that i will end up replacing anyways. Honestly it comes down to which do you guys feel is better, and also if one of the chassis are truley much better than each other that i should just go with one regardless what i put in or keep stock. Thanks

RE: TC3, need help upgrading/ideas
Yes the rear diff is better when locked for drifting as you stated, the wheels spin equally. You can do that by taking out your diff, take out the ball bearings, and put the diff back together without the balls in it, tighten it up pretty tight, and make sure you cant spin the diff by hand. It would then be locked, so it cant spin seperately. Yes the front one way is good to have, it gives you sort of an "e-Brake" effect. It's used to help cornering and such, when drifting it makes it better to do transitions, like drifting to one side then quickly drifting to the opposite side. It isnt a MUST, but most people prefer it, if you have a technical track/course with fast turning then it is alot better. I have one also. You can also lock the front and the rear instead of having front oneway front, with locked rear. The second option is what most people use, and in general better. I have seen and read about some people using both locked, but i would go with the front one way. After that, you can pretty much just slap on drift tyres and get drifting xD.

RE: 75t spur, doesn't fit?
Actually im gpoing to be using a 87t spur, and the ratio i wanted was from this. http://www.rc-race-and-drift-japan.com/techCheck/techCheckGears.htm i have a 10.5 T motor, and i drift.. and that is the ratio they recommend for that. So with a 87t spur, i would need a 33 or 34 pinion for the ratio, would it fit properly? the 87t spur seems so big compared to 72, dont see how it would fit lol.

Well, on the tc3 manual, it shows the chart but all the spurs it shows for are the stock 72 spur, and different pinion sizes. I wanted to use a 75 spur, and a smaller pinion, but i can't find anywhere what size fits with the 75t spur.
