redcat hurricane FRONT DRIVE SHAFTS PROBLEM UPGRADE HELP
SO I HAVE SPENT ALOT OF TIME REBUILDING THE HECK OUT OF MY REDCAT HURRICANE, MY OLD ONE IS THE XL/XP? MODEL. SO HAVE CHANGED MANY AND ADDED MANY PARTS OF ALUMINUM. FIRST PROBLEM WAS THE DOWN WARD TRAVEL SUCKED BAD AND ENDED UP FLIPPING THE HUB CARRIERS AND FIXED THE DOWNWARD TO INCREASE TRAVEL, THE STEERING ARMS WERE NOT ALLOWING TRAVEL THE OTHER WAY... THE ROTATION ON THE STEERING IS VERY TIGHT, SO I LOOSED THE BOLTS ON THE ARMS TO THE PURPLE HUBS, AND STEER TURN EASIER, SO IS THERE A BALL SPACER OR SOMETHING I AM MISSING? SHOULD BE ABLE TO TIGHTEN ALL THE WAY RIGHT? SO MY CURRENT PROBLEM IS THE DOG BONES IN THE CVD SET UP APPEAR TO SHORT NOW WITH THE UPGRADED ALUMINUM PARTS? ARE THERE A LONGER SET FROM ANOTHER REDCAT OR AN UPGRADE LONGER FRONT DOGBONE CVD SET? ANY IDEAS? PLEASE SEE THE PICS....

RE: Aftershock - Backdraft Part Replacement Program
hey darin, i have the redcat after shock 3.5 now. i also have the redcat avalanche that back when i bought it, had the recall on the faulty fm digital radios. i sent the radio back and had a credit i never remembered to use. was $20 bucks.? heres my question, i got the aftershock 3.5 for my birthday 3/31/2010. reading all the issues i wanted to know, i have not broken in the engine yet, but i am shocked from the all the issues i've heard. so my question is, can i have all the replacement parts with my store redcat credit? i have not broken the parts recalled, but don't really want to go through the break in period to remove and send borken parts back... i can provide the paypal receipt from an authorized dealer it came from in march. my account should have my 20 credit on it still... i would like to play with the gift, but little heart broken that yet i got one with a recall again... geese my luck. p.s. i have the tornado bb too and all aluminum upgrades woo hoo, hit and climbed a tree like a squirell the other day and runs great... and the redcat lightning, just sold my two tsunami's. not in to the truggy so much now... let me know. addicted96@hotmail.com p.s. i saved all the past emails about the credit and return from back then... ahg you were cussing it out for being slow right? mine full open goes like 20-25 mph maybe then the idle thing too. i put the choke to qaurter choke and mine ran though. it would idle at full choke but stall if you gas it at all... i've got like 30 min run time on mine.... but i guess i should be happy it runs. does the gas octane or oil matter, i used regular gas and a 2 cycle multipurpose oit that was also tcw3 approved.

RE: King Motors Baja Review with pictures
original setting, i have not changed it. i charged it, i gased it, i check the remote control unit, primed and pulled. started well and idles, at first it drove off very very slow, seems to speed up to about 25mph... if that, then after about 20 minute seemed to go a little faster. then stalled out and then drive a little faster and stall out. then it did not start in a couple pulls put choke on, pulled then put to half choke and started up. let run and ran faster. then brought it back, put full it bogged and then died. so i put it at qaurter choke and ran faster and couple min, brought it back. put to full. it floods. so fustrated and did not bring the manual with me. i let it idle out, its in 60's here and did not really get hot at all. so idea's? saw in the book about adjusting the needles to one and half turns? but it bogs to die now every time. using 2 cycle oil and is also tcw3 approved. have name at home. should i use high test? or?

RE: King Motors Baja Review with pictures
ok alot of reading to this. read alot. my question is with the engine. i bought mine, decided to run it and it is very slow. i have the king motor baja. has the 23 cc and 6800 clutch and chrome frame with fm radio. the engine is very slow with take off. started first two pulls and drives off eventually. then bogged down alot and slowed down. then put choke quarter way and ran faster, put back to the full position and bogged out and died. what to do and to adjust this? ran one tank through it. about 30-40 minute run time.... it continued to bog out and die in full position. i used 25 to 1 and regular gas.

RE: tornado BB trans
so i have the tsunami that now bogs down and never shift nor gets up to speed, trying to retune it.... the tornado bb was shifting and running fine, then started to shift funny with tones, engine sounds good and then heard the jingling the other guy did. looked saw nothing and then ran few more times shifted later and then never shifted again after 7 more passes... then florida rain stopped the fun... soo looks like i only have one screw deep? ill have too look with flash light, but jingle may have been the screw for shifting, it sounds fast and is fast still, but not peeling out off the line and never shifts... so if that grub screw fell out, was there anything else in there with it? thanks. RE: still not moving!
[&o] yeah it got hot like that. changed from a cool plug to traxxas hot plug in it to run... hmm i did the clutch bell bearings and all back in. they looked good with the clutch bell and all. checked the trans one way, it stops when roll it backwards.... the engine is only about seven runs of two tanks each run and not including the five tanks at idle on the stand. i think seven runs maybe less... it tuned well when it started to crap out. seemed like the first problem i thought was clutch was the hole worn in the fuel line. replaced and ran good for five minutes or? then slow and hot and crap... so the first problem with the fuel line leak could had crapped the engine out. oh yeah lots of oil and dirt on the exhaust side as well... hmm, well i do have a back up motor.... it's a megatech 16 and not the 18... well as long as it runs for now.. i'll run it after the clutch spring was loosened and put back together again.... then i'll change the engine and see. p.s. i'll check the diffs and all too, but it rolls well and the wheels turn well. thanks guys.

RE: still not moving!
hold it in your hand it revs full rpm, on ground not so much after about 5 minutes. then seems to rev just not the same sound when it tunes up and then shifts ya know? car rolls well and the wheels all turn as they should. but in hand it revs up and shifts too... so i thought twice it was the clutch shoes and the spring wrapped around was really tight, so i loosened it some and can't wait to try again?

RE: still not moving!
so i have the tsunami. the truggy was going well. then one day it started to slow down, the engine revs but goes slow. the gear in teeth are good with no wear. so i took the engine off and took a look at the cluthc bell that looked good. pads looked good. put it back together and saw the fuel line had rub mark on it and possibly leaking. replaced it. put it to run, ran ok just did not seem as fast, it slowed down and tokk a bit to bring back, slow down i mean like 10mph or so and engine running. so then it was hot. took it a part again, clutch a little discolored, but check the springs and all is ok. so runs hot, slow, gears are clean. theres a oneway somewhere in the trans? also when you pick it up and rev it, it switches gears and all...

RE: the new lanslide 1/8 scale
the only video's i've seen in searches so far are fromt he other distributor. people are even using it for advertisement due to lack of a video from redcat to use. don't take offense, but was there a body difference too? because if i ordered from the guy off ebay the landslide and i got the yellow color scheme and the word earthquake on the windshield, instead the of the body pictured? we'd have some ebay issues and paypal concerns. just a thought to sellers, advise your client/customers of what body before you waste money sending it out to them. there is a big difference in appearance with the red and grey combo(or black sorry) and the earth quake's yellow and blue scheme. just my two cents as a consumer. p.a. in away those videos of the other company truck selling the redcat one, made you want to compare prices to see which one to buy.... seeing the parts will match at my redcat dealer....

earlier in the posting it was said that the xtm and redcat sh .28 need a spacer to be added or something to run the 30% fuel? anyways. i just went to the roto start. tired of pulling. i bought three extra owb. so fine i guess... i hate having to take bodies off to pull start if stall or? what i really liked about the traxxas r/c cars elrctric start thing.

as some are on sale on ebay since the other week, i noticed in thier pics that it appears to be some type of covered/sealed gear box system. certain other company out of austrailia has something similar in this transmission set up. i would had mentioned, but really you need better listing and advertisemet pictures, videos and more for all these new lines... but i am anxious as others to hear of them..about them and check out the pics.

RE: the new lanslide 1/8 scale
the old earthquake boxes? but the earthquakes were the ones prior the avalanche and were just as heavy. why wouldn't they remove the sticker from the windshields? also i hope that was a mistake and that redcat didn't just waste a bunch of money sending out trucks that are not as described. additionally they need to take better pictures/gattery of them and some one needs to drive them to do a review. even the typhone only has what appears to be a scanned copy of the box... come on guys, people need better visuals and stuff to want to buy. so does this mean they are recycling old stock bodies and boxes? did the wheels and all look like the picture? i guess gas one up, break it in for store model, see if it shifts :) thats just the kid in me. but let us all know.

i'm not sure where you live, but everyone i know runs 20% or 30% depending on engine. i don't think i've sen 16% in our stores here in florida? i mean the planes and boats use different fuels levels right? maybe someone will have the answer. because i looked at the bottles of traxxas and does not say the oil content but that its 20%. good question!!! answer anyone?

RE: Avalanche SH28 engine issue?
i will try to elevate the rear end some on the shelf i have them on. i will run byrons now instead of the traxxas. waiting on metal gear steering servo's now. the front servo turns when lift, doesn't really turn at all on ground.. hear the motor, the screw and horn does not move, so i fugure bad servo... replace.. i am looking into the mutilator .32 engine. i believe it's the ofna force .32... owb on outside :) and it's eight port which is better right? redcat 28 is only three? well for now, while waiting it will be at slant storage.

RE: the new lanslide 1/8 scale
the new 1/8 scale are now with free shipping on ebay.... redcat dealers they say, but anyways..... the only reason i am interested is the serious issues i have been having with the avalanche sh28 does not run well at all. only vehicle i have been seriously fustrated over in ten years... so this smaller engine with two gears sounds better due to the owb is on the outside right? but a .21 engine upgrade option sounds really cool with two speed trans. so please answer the previous questions on those subjects i previously posted about the change, options. and really almost pop a wheelie with the .18? i can't do that with my set up with the sh.28... thanks guys

RE: Avalanche SH28 engine issue?
well i am glad someone else is having this problem with the sh28.... this engine is my least favorite at all over the past ten years.... my most problematic and tempermental engine with the owb inside and the tempermental issue of the oil content. but the byrons is a good fuel to go to, i was told so at least you are using the correct fuel. i was using the traxxas and everyone blamed it on that. so if this guy is having same problem, whats the issue. not the fuel? i just replaced the owb and worked good for two runs and back to crap. recall the engines would be better idea than the radio for the same car.... i know i am just fustrated myself and here is guy with similar issues... and more people in other threads too... whats a good engine replacement that the owb is not inside? like the axial .28 or .32? the losi 427 or 457? or xtm has the 457 also? or the ofna/ tamiya .32? what about the vertex or the toki engines... the xtm 24-7 is the same right? the mach 427? the thunder tiger .28? the collari .32? something... that is not 200 plus engine for this truck i am not happy with. first vehicle in 10 years i can say i am not happy with and lots of fustration due to the issues with just having it run. yes changed the glow plug. yes changed the fuel. yes i cleaned the owb and then said screw it and bought two more. but should not have to have three laying around so i can run it a few times on the weekend. very disappointing and i own the tsunami and hurricane too. also the traxxas stampede because it runs always and when issues arrive never hard fix. i sold my hpi vehicles to change over to the redcats because they seemed like a fun line and this forum thing. i had no problems with the chinese 4x4 truck i bought on ebay for less than 100 shipped. only issues were finding the 90% part compatiability parts... like looking for waldo..[:D] but iran hard and strong with the large engine in it and always ran... and sold it on ebay to get the tsunami. single dad needs to recycle/flip things/toys to buy his new toys... when the redcats run they are fun. but i want to to get my replacement recalled controller that went haywire on me back to run the hurricane more seeing i have been focusing on the avalanche to run right/correctly.... with the hurricane controller.. the tsunami is my shelf queen for this month, but i'll run her soon.... i am really itching too... but wishing i had gone ultra wide though... i'll probly buy the parts to do so... fustrated man i am... so take no offense but helpful advise and understanding would be appreciated..[8|]
