RE: Metal Lathe for RC hobby use??
with the little bit of lathe work i have done the 9"x19" done the trick. That was making hardware for my cats and removing the cooling fins from an air cooled engine to water cool it. i had one the same as this grizzly but different branded http://www.grizzly.com/products/9-x-19-Bench-Lathe/G4000

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
So if i do end up getting a hull (or two) this week i will be looking at builing me another one up very soon. What do you guys recommend for an engine. I went from a weedeater (years ago) to a stock Zenoah 260 to the stock RCMK S254 seen above. the two options im thinking of at the moment are a RCMK K30 or the Zenoah 290 for the extra midrange torque, which would be the better motor to go for? cheers Steve

My hulls are 40" but i have been having a hard time getting them made. ive been pushing to have one for the last few months now. sounds like i may have one ready monday or tuesday (really hoping). heres a link to my build. they dont come with the wing on the back like mine is pictured with. http://modeljetboat.com/forum/index.php?topic=54.0

RE: pipes for RCMK k600s
Hi there, I am doing a very similar build with a GTX from expresscraft with a 520 or k600 into werners gearbox and two of his z drives I was thinking that with all the extra torque from the inlines a 0 band pipe would be a little more benifical to get the extra revs out of it. the 2" band pipes are better for torque which the inline already has plenty of. this is my theory though and correct me if im wrong. keep us updated on the build, will be interesting to see the outcome cheers steve

I have a few other smalller items turning up also, its mainly engines, exhausts and electronics ill be waiting on :( I also have molds for a 40" jet sprint hull that will be laid up in the next week or so. Its guna be a busy year for building boats :) cheers steve

RE: Putting together a plan for a GTX...
i dont mean to barge into someone elses thread buti have just got this hull and would like a scale build. I am looking at the s520 or k600 engine coupled with the WD200 splitter gear box into the WD200 scale stern drives. is this a reasonable build or would you still suggest the single 30cc motor instead? stern drives http://wd200-modellbau.de/?Antriebe%2FDrives:Z-Drive%2FDirektantrieb#Length:_183mm gearbox http://wd200-modellbau.de/?Getriebe%2FGearbox:Getriebe_I Thanks Steve

RE: MHZ mark 4 jet
theres a forum at modeljetboat.com where someone had this problem with their graupner unit and made a new impellor buy joining two of them together to get enough overlap

RE: MHZ mark 4 jet
I believe it is because of the impellor design, alot of the jet units have this same problem. There needs to be overlap in the blades for it to hold its prime and not cavitate. The Graupner jet unit is the same and looking at the hobby king jet unit its not going to be too much better :( cheers steve

Stolen Boats In Auck New Zealand
Hi guys, I guess this is more for the Kiwis on the forum well got home today to find i had been burgled and the scum took a couple PC's, TV's, Stereo and the most annoying part they took ALL of my boating stuff. all four boats. if ya see them around at all please let me know. i would love my jet sprint back especially. I guess there goes racing this year for me :( cheers Steve This was just a bare hull and was pretty beaten up but very sentimental. My latest hull that was just completed. this was a complete running boat. had a swashdrive jet unit running a RCMK S254 EVO and futaba 3PM fasst radio gear. and my expresscraft thunderbolt. this was complete also ready to run. this had full speedmaster hardware on it and a stock Zenoah in it the last one was an undrilled Aeromarine Outerlimits. it did have speedmaster hardware in the hull ready to assemble. note this is not my boat but is the same as this, as they come from aeromarine. RE: hpr 135 project
I saw In a post not sooo long ago that RCMK had done a revision of their R254 that does not have the pull start (not the RZ254 engine). They have made a cap over the carb side that is removable so you can run the drive from the carb side. this might do the trick chers steve

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
Its going to be very tight but worth a go. to get the CG back enough you might have to place the radio gear above/around the drive line. The KMB 40mm is a jet unit that Dana is using in his sprint boat. it has a 40mm ipellor rather than the Graupners being 50mm< Scott thinks that a Zen or Rcmk will be abit too much torque for the 40mm unit. Where abouts in NZ are you. were more than welcome to come round and have a look at mine for some ideas if your in the auck region? cheers steve

RE: Gas Jet Boaters
personally i think that 780mm (30") is a little bit small for the ZEN and RCMK option. if you do go that route it is going to be one heck of a ride. Mine is 1m (40") long. the davette boats i think are around 36" mark (someone correct me if im wrong). the small the boat the harder it is goingto be to cram all the running gear in. As for the 3pin coupler. i think they are quite expensive for what you are getting. I just use 2 collets and a flex shat in between. cheers steve
