So what do you do, not fly jets? For me thats not a bid deal since I fly 3d planes and helis but some people only fly jets. I do agree with the above, as a planet we continue to except things our founders would have not.
Not entirely true! I have been working on a slightly larger and NICER F14 since before FEJ launched their first version. I have stated many times that if anyone is willing to assist financially with the project, their financial support would be returned 100% in the way of a deposit towards a kit. But since this society is a "gimme now!" Type, very few if any are willing to wait for a better product. If i had the cash, i could have a prototype airframe completed and ready for a proper STRESS testing by the end of the year. The problem is, in order to keep these things realistically priced, you must buy in bulk, which is $$$$$, and many of the materials (airex foam and Cf cloth) must come from germany, which is even more $$$ in shipping, as one sheet of airex foam is $60 to ship. 60 sheets is still $60 to ship.
ORIGINAL: dubd I saw the jet in person when he had it listed for sale. It looked pretty busted sitting in his house.
Dantley, Busted up is a understatement by verflyby. He drove up for me to look at the twin bug to see if i could repair it, and its way past that stage. 2 of the three landing gear damaged, the entire rear bulkhead that the stabs attach to was torn loose, the canopy is in multiple pieces. The nose section forward of the windscreen was crushed and torn off the rest of the fuse. Both horizontal and vertical stabs were heavily damaged. The main gear mounting structure was broken or busted loose. Essentially, the entire airframe is nothing but garbage, and all of the radio and fuel system install was a rats nest of crap and twisted together wire splices. Even if the airframe would of been salvageable, i would of strongky recommended gutting the model and starting over with the install. The pictures he was provided by paul made the airplane look extremely clean and well taken care of, but that is nothing like what he got.

RE: How to get a refund from Fly Eagle Jets?
I don't care if lowell or whoever is only a middle man. If he took the order and initiated the contract, then he is in fact PART of the problem. If you assist with some placing an order, (even if you didn't take the money first hand) then morally I would try and help the customer understand what the delay is. After all, that is the JOB of being a REPRESENTATIVE for a company. You are their to represent and ASSIST the customer no matter what the problem is.. Thats like going to your local auto dealer, buying a car (thats not on the lot) and being told "oh it will be 4 weeks till its delivered" then 4, 6, 8, 10, etc weeks later the dealer won't talk to you, won't help find out WTH is the delay.. The silent treatment is the biggest problem, I'm sure if someone was expecting a model in 8 weeks and it became 8 weeks and 1 day and the customer received an email stating why the model wasn't their and it was sincere the customer would have no problem... as long as a realistic expectation was given and UPDATES were provided on a somewhat regular (weekly) basis.

RE: 150% enlarged WingontheWeb HO-229
We got 2 more flights in on the Horten #1.5 today. Everything is progressing fairly well. even with the Frise elevons and the a good bit of aileron differential, during left turns the nose refuse to drop into a coordinated turn w/o rudder.. rights turns are "ok". I'm thinking the CG is getting to the point where it may be getting close to the aft edge of the CG limit. I say this b/c Heiner has mentioned that as the CG moves aft, it will eventually hit a point where its turning characteristics get worse, on the 2nd flight today, i had removed 1 more oz of lead from the nose and the left turn coordination was worse than the first flight. So it may be time to add 2 or 3oz back to the nose to see if that helps the coordination issue. Heiner, any suggestions? Other than that, one of the nose gear doors ripped off after the right hand roll again. The nose gear doors have been fighting us through its entire life. I ordered some METAL door hinges this time, so the only way its coming off again, is if the door itself breaks! Tom got some video from his cell phone. the quality sucks, but I think he's better in keeping the Horten in frame with his phone than the camcorder, i'll let you guys decide. lol And for those local to Fredericksburg, Va. RE: FEJ honeycomb owners PLEASE CHECK YOUR STABS
ORIGINAL: osvaldopv 60Kg is 132.2 pounds . how many G force could be equal to 132Lbs ? for sure could be three times the weight of the airplane. The question is, does manufactures take concern of the G forces when they design ours jets, are they fabricated to hold this amount of force? for sure most of them not. My two cents ........
The lift distribution of the wing is depending on allot of factors, weight, airfoil, speed, wing area, general design, etc. on the F14, i believe the fuselage provides around 30% of the total lift, so it would be supporting 30% of the weight (if this number is correct) 132.2lbs would be around 2G's for an airplane like the 1/7 F-14, entirely insufficient IMO! My F-14 is being designed for a 800lb force before failure (400lbs per wing half), or 10G's at 80lbs or 16G's at 50lbs. While it may be a wee bit heavier, it will be built to last!

RE: Byron/Century Jet retract Drop in replacement
The solo props really only look good. Performace is crap from them IMO, and unless you put huge amount of excess power in the plane, i doubt youd be happy. A dle/da opposed twin wont fit in the nose either. If it was me, id go with a kohlm il135 4stroke twin inline. Its around $3k right now and you can get it from vogelsang aeroscale. Get the one with the 270* timing and it'll sound better than anything else at the flying field!

Im interested! This would be a great candidate for electric. With the right motor and 4 blade prop combo, they sound pretty close to a turboprop. And with all the room in the fuse, youd have plenty of room for batteries.

Here's my primary speed Demon.. DMA Skat vaccum bagged carbon skinned wing and stabs Neu 1105/1.5y inrunner, CC35 esc, 45c 3s 1300mah lipoly APC 4.1x4.1 speed 400 prop spektrum digital servo's. Not sure on the exact speed, but i'm pretty sure its right around 135-145 in level flight.. probably 150-160 out of a small dive. It looks a heck of allot faster though since its only 30" wingspan. the fuse has since been repainted all silver with a Flour. green tail. 2 1/2 minute flight times make for some short fun flights.. I'm currently working on obtaining all the components for a 260mph F5D racer. RE: National 747 crash
ORIGINAL: willig10 Â You would be correct if this was a pure jet. The engine is a split spool engine and the 3rd stage wheel drives the compressor. The compressors 1st stage is the fan. It is the fan that provides around 90% of the thrust. The other 10% come out of the exhaust cone. Another way of determining a high bypass engine is in it,s thrust reversing system. A pure jet will have clam shell doors that are mounted on the aft end of the engine and when activated they cover the exhaust and divert the exhaust/thrust forward. On a high bypass engine the thrust reversed is mounted on the aft end of the inlet. This is called a cascade reversed and it diverts the fans thrust forward. This is because the majority of the thrust is in the 1st stage fan/compressor. Â Glenn Williams
First its the compressor that provides the majority of the thrust, now the Fan.. WHICH ONE IS IT!!!!1 Its the FAN!!!!!!!!!!! the compressors just provide the compressed air for the engine core, which turns the FAN

Just tried this method the other night for the first time and it works GREAT! The wing i did it on is very complex is shape (the spars are curved). The only thing is i used the white "gorilla" wood glue as everywhere I went was sold out of titebond. I also let the glue dry for about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and then used my coverite covering iron turned all the way up to iron it down.
