RE: RE:
I will be posting the sale of my Nosen 310 Kit and G & L Fiberglass. I am totally overwhelmed with large scale kits and unfortunately the 310 is not at the top. I went on a buying spree the last few years and over did it. Time is moving on too quickly for me and I am making very little progress on my current projects. Please let me know if there is any interest in the kit and/or the G&L fiberglass fuse and other parts. I would like to see this get into the hands of someone who can get this built and flown. The 310 is one of my favorites but the kit and G&L parts will just gather dust. I will keep monitoring the thread to see how all of the others are doing. Thanks, Iran, member #60

You may try contacting Glennis Aircraft in California. He does all kinds of custom work for retracts, wheels, and brakes. It may take some time for a response from him but a phone call might speed up the process.

When I bought my retracts from Century Jet I asked for brakes. They fit nicely tucked into the rims and do not interfere with the landing gear vertical motion. IR3

RE: Palmer 132
Certainly electric is always on my mind. A lot has changed in battery technology and the costs have come down considerably. There are a host of other considerations. 1, 2, 4 ESC's. What size motors? Heating issues. One could install mini fans in the cowls to pull air through for cooling. The ESC's will get quite hot as well as the motors. An ESC can fail. A Battery could fail. Not much difference running fuel or electrics. They each have their specific problems that must be overcome. BTW, I haven't completed reading the entire thread but there was a time that you swore that fuel was the only way to go. What happened to change your mind. I'm not starting a slug fest, just curious.

Add another member. I have this model on the back burner at the moment. I have a Palmer 132" Hercules on the boards at the moment. I am a glutton for punishment. The Cessna 310 has always been one of my favorites and I am looking forward to the build later this year. This thread will be a great help. Cheers, IR3 BTW, it is Saul's kit that I just acquired.

Hi Jerry, I did see your model at the EXPO. Looks great. You were not there when I passed by. I am adding a few pics of the F19 frames that I built up. With the matching forward frame, it will just be a matter of getting the fuselage sheeting to exactly match. The main fuselage truss assembly is on the building board. IR3

Thanks Jeff, Still waiting for the wood pack from PCK for the Shrike. I will be in Washington DC in Feb and plan on getting a lot of pictures of Bob Hoovers Shrike. My plans are to use the exact color scheme and sponsorship markings. If you would like some pics, let me know. Iran

RE: Twin Turbo Commander 1000 setup
Hi Jeff, Your build is progressing very nicely. Between your thread and Mike's there is plenty of reference material. I posted this on Mike's site but I think that no one is monitoring that thread any more. I settled on RCV 90SP engines. In my zeal to acquire parts for this build I paid no attention to the final size. The biggest expense for this build is going to be the transportation. This monster is 8' long!!!!! It's great that the wings come off but a vehicle to transport the fuse will be a problem. I am thinking that I will split the fuselage, probably just behind the wings or the side pods Ala Palmer's Shrike. This joint can be made quite strong. There are so many access panels on the actual C-130 for maintenance that I could gain access to bolt the two halves together and not lose any scale values. A lot cheaper fix than buying a very large SUV or Pickup. Iran

RE: Twin Turbo Commander 1000 setup
Jetfixr, I will probably get the Saito FA-91S engines and not concern myself with the counter rotation issue. On the landing gear, do you have all of the Robart part numbers for your gear, particularly the offset mains and the nose wheel strut and retract mechanism. I believe somewhere in this thread you mentioned the 638RS but not the strut. Thanks, IR3

RE: Twin Turbo Commander 1000 setup
A question for Jeff and others who built the 118" Palmer Shrike. Palmer calls out Saito FA-91's, one counter rotating, for power. My guess is that he assumes the flying weight is close to 21lbs. From all of the chatter, the flying weight seems to be closer to 25-26 lbs. Will the FA-91's now be under power for this weight. On some threads, YS110's or YS120's were used. Any suggestions??? Thanks, Iran

RE: Having a hard time finding a RC Sub radio
Subsinker, Check in at Harbor Models and consider the Robbe F-14 75MHZ radio. I am using this radio for my Dusseldorf Fireboat. The transmitter is expandable with switch modules and proportional modules and is a great way to add animated functionality. Not cheap but a great way to go. It is my radio of choice for both my Engle VIIC and my Revell VIIC that will be going into the water soon. IR3

RE: Using Magnetic Switches
thanks for the heads up on the Engel magnetic switches. I am uploading my circuit for a reed switch system to allow interday on/off capability without opening up the sub. Of course, after a day's run, everything will be opened to allow thorough drying including the WTC. It is a latching system and just requires a magnet at the appropriate switch to turn on/off.

Using Magnetic Switches
I would like to use a magnetic switch(s) to control the on/off for my Revell Gato. The main problem is most ESC manufacturers strongly recommend disconnecting the battery when not in use. This would then require a high current switch, water proofed and in some easily accessible area. Perhaps within the sail. Has anyone addressed the problem and maybe have some suggestions. Thanks, Iran Ausley
