RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...
Check out J concepts . Also there is a thread about this on the Traxxas site. Yes it can be done. People were doing it to the 2WD Slash. I am going to do it to mine or one of them.

RE: The Official Traxxas 4wd Slash Thread...
So what are peoples plans? I was thinking of using this as dual purpose vehicle. I have a E-Revo thats brushed and its a dual battery eating monster. I like it for the Ground Clearance though. What I am thinking is that if I slapped some stampede wheels the new Slash it would rasie it up a bit and maybe take the place of my Revo. I could always swap the tires back for low GC.

I have the Zippy flight max 1500mah 3S and I always balance them but I have found that they seem to lose the charge when sitting. With these you have to notch a piece away for the wires and gear down to at least a 25T.

RE: New slash 4x4 under 400.
I pre-ordered from Tower right after they offered it. I'm thinking that I will put Pede wheels and the J concepts baja bug body on this and use it as an replacement for my E-Revo. A saw that two companies make lexan covers that cover the chassis of the old slash. My thoughts are is that I would use this set up in the winter when I want to play in the snow. Put the stock body and wheels back on for the BMX track. Make a dual purpose truck. I like my E-Revo but it's so big and heavy and such a power hungry monster that requires alot of maintence with the brushed motors. Going brushless would take away the water proof capability that I like about it. Only a few companies make waterproof brushless systems. Some are spash proof which leaves a lot to be said. So if I could have a 4x4 that's light, only uses one battery and is light and easy on the maintenance I would be happy. The new slash has 2.5" of GC and with Pede tires it would be more. It doesn't have to be bullet fast. I think I'll run the VXL with 3S at the most. Although the MMM option sounds wicked. I've been reading that this is sort of thier gateway truck to the 1/8 class. It will have a buggy body and wing available. If it will handle the abuse is yet to be seen. My Revo has been a little pain lately. It only runs 20 minutes using two Associated 4500 Mah 7 cell Rocket packs. It heats the packs up good too. Lately it has been slow or seems slow the ESC seems pretty warm doing nothing and I have to clean the motors alot and re oil the bushings. Its only been ran maybe 9 times or so and I use Outter Wears motor covers. Its just not fast or efficient enough for me. Especailly since I bought it as a second driver. I also have the new mini Revo VXL. Its fast as all get out but with the lightweightness combined with 3S its hard to control. The lightness of it causes to get bounced around off of rocks, strong weeds etc. If this Slash is all that I may buy two, thats it I don't buy another 1/16 like the Ofna hyper mini STe. I hear good things but they really haven't taken off. My friend has one on the way, so I'm waiting for his take. The trade off is finding parts.

Yeah, looking at it now one of the folks who just complaining about traxxas just joined and has 12 posts. All of them are probably here. Very suspecious. OLD-SCHOOL, Beat it! No one cares! Go join another board and start an argument there. So does anyone want to talk about the truck?

RE: New slash 4x4 under 400.
OK this is just like when the truggy was born. Everybody took a buggy and put different wheels on it and a different body. Its the same thing over again the past repeats itself. Comparing Traxxas to a company that primarily makes race vehicles is like comparing apples to oranges. They're both built for two differnet things and Traxxas is popular now cause the majority of us (kid, adult, money or no money) are bashers. Not that many have time to race. I don't and I buy and sell of my R/Cs like crazy. I also spend good money on the items that go in them. But I'm not going to overspend for a car thats not as durable, the parts are hard to find locally and when I can get more bang for my buck elsewhere. Also when an R/C is purchased as a gift for a child, teenager, etc. You don't want to have to figure out what you need and you don't want to have them build it or build it yourself. My first R/C was a HotShot by Tamiya. 2nd was a Blackfoot. I've only owned one Tamiya since then. Why would I spend more on a Tamiya and the have to buy more parts just to make it "adjustable" or have to buy a slipper. That should come standard. It its what it is. The LHS is just trying to stay alive and follow what the consumer is doing. "We" are their bread and butter. In a city there is limited room for tracks. So can we move on now and discuss the "truck" itself rather than have a discussing about the marketing strategies of each corporation?

Big 3 huh? Well tell me where you can buy and get parts for the big three? Especially the over priced Tamiya and Kyosho. At least Traxxass makes a durable cheap product. Its a bashers toy not a racers dream. Most of the R/C purchased are used for bashing. Not everyone races or wnatrs to spend a fortune cause it looks scale.

New to the Slash family. I have Mini Revo and a E-Revo. Will the new slash fit 2.2 truck tires and will it fit larger tires such as 2.8? Looking to replace my E-Revo with this possibly. I have ordered one but I would like to get this in place of my E-Revo (non-bl) and get rid of the mini for an Ofna STe. And please be nice i know nothing of the slash.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
Ok you guys are talking about spending some cash. Adding new ESCs and motors ups the total price. Other than batteries, everything for this car is almost the same price as a 1/10 th car. Especially when your buying 1/10th elecs. So I'm leaning on selling my VXL and getting the Ofna Hyper Mini STe. Do the math its the same price in the end. The only thing cheap for this car is the batteries. I can get a STe for $160 put in a BL system and a decent servo and my 2.4 reciever and be in it cheaper than my VXL and I'll have lost of metal, nitro proof drivetrain. Not dealing with heat or popping axles. Lets do the math, VXL Revo $239 with discount at Tower (some paid more!) shocks & springs $42, toe links $28, metal axles $60 =$369 then theres the whole motor ESC debate that adds more $$. Ofna Hyper Mini STe $160, BL system starting at $160, good servo $70 give or take = $390 Granted I think that due to its light weight you can just huck a VXL in any direction and pretty much drive away. Probably not the same with the STe but its a little bigger and can handle bigger tires and will handle better and not change directing when it hits a small rock or stiff weed. I had a CEN ME16MT and loved it except I had an issue with busting A arms. I was running a VXL-3 and 4600 Nimh and it was fun. I sold it to a guy and he still has it and likes it.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
A few things after I ran at a BMX track. Small rocks get in the driveline area in the under carrage and get caught in there and go to town on the drivelines like a lathe. Also weeds can get caught in the axles by the wheel hexes and cause binding and steering issues. I tried a dual steerring servo test and if I went left to right real fast or got it to shutter it screwed with the ESCs BEC or the reciever. Anyway it shut down for a second. Cleared mass air with no issues except cracking the rear wing mount. I'm using 70wt with blk in rear and 60 wt with tan n front. Thick weeds stop it in its tracks
ORIGINAL: dacaur I dont see a problem posting to a new thread. when you post in one main thread, your question is often lost in the thread before you get an answer.
I haven't seen a decent question or one that hasn't answered already been answered outside the thread. Theres hardly any options for this thing right now. We all basically all have stock cars. Theres not much to do. How many questions can there be? Every other question is a stupid battery question. Half of those were discussed before the thing was even on the shelves. Then theres the posts of speed run videos. Its been out for a week or two already, time for the 3S speed run vids to end. How about some videos of one running a track with some dialed in suspension? I post but I try to keep it in the forum and informative. What springs and oils, what not to do, leassons learned and I search first. The reason a post gets lost in the thread is probably due to the amount of stupid posts with pics of 4 different rim combos.

RE: OFFICIAL MINI E-REVO THREAD!!!
19T - Curious how that goes. They supply a 23T. I haven't ran that yet. No need since all I have is 7.4 and its too torqy with the 28T buts its melting the batts. Lessons learned. 28T pinion and 14.4V nimh -Bad 2 Nimhs (similaiar to 2S lipo) in parallel - better but wish it was faster. Is 11.1 the answer? and then what pinion and will it be controllable? Gear down the motor stays cooler but torq is too much at least with stock suspension. Too much wheelie action. The wheels are 12mm hex so any 12mm hex whell with fit. That means 1/10 on and off road wheels. I can't wait to see some post about tuneable diffs, springs and shock oils. Right now I feel like I driving a Tyco with a brushless cause the torq and the suspension is such an issue and I can't do anything till the parts arrive. As it stands I paid $239 for that car, $75 for shocks, springs and toe links that haven't arrived yet. If I have to get a tuneable diff thats another $22 or something. I got 4 IB1600 Nimhs for $80. So I have about $300 the car and I'm itching to gett'r going good. 4th of July weeken I hope to have her ready to try at a makeshift BMX track. If things don't change I may be looking for a 1/12 Ofna Hyper STe. Cost is a little more but then If I keep adding the the Mini Revo it will be the same. If I could figure out how to fit 7 cell in that chassi I wouldn't need batts.

RE: Please Post Mini E Revo Q's in E Revo Thread
Well the car is new and there are probably a lot of new people to the hobby because of it BUT there are way too many single posts with questions that have already been answered in other threads IE battery Q's. IF people would just read the the main thread or search they will find the answer. How many things can there be to talk about? Hop up parts arn't even on the shelves yet. On a side note I just about laughed when I searched on you tube for bashing videos. There were lost of videos of people just opening the box or running the stock battery with the camera lying on the ground and one kid even hit the camera. I would like to see some good questions and answers like what weight oil and springs? What pinion size? Anybody can run 14.4V and the 28T pinion and make high speed passes. Stock this does not handle well. Too quick to wheelie and suspension is way to bouncy. Lots of rear squat and thats why the rears are pointed in so much
