RE: Electric Retracts - Why don't we have them for Turbines?
Hello Friends. Here are some photos of my retract doors. I`m not sure this will be to any help. It`s not so easy to figure out how it works just by the photos so i will try to draw a simple plan to make it more clear. Ivan.
ORIGINAL: ir3 Certainly electric is always on my mind. A lot has changed in battery technology and the costs have come down considerably. There are a host of other considerations. 1, 2, 4 ESC's. What size motors? Heating issues. One could install mini fans in the cowls to pull air through for cooling. The ESC's will get quite hot as well as the motors. An ESC can fail. A Battery could fail. Not much difference running fuel or electrics. They each have their specific problems that must be overcome. BTW, I haven't completed reading the entire thread but there was a time that you swore that fuel was the only way to go. What happened to change your mind. I'm not starting a slug fest, just curious.
ORIGINAL: greeter896 Hello Ivves, Great job on your C-130! How did you do the reverse on your C-130? Regards, Gary
Very simple to do. You just add a servo that activates a switch somewhere between motor and esc. You let two of the three motorleads go via this switch. You need a switch with six poles. Good luck.

Hi Henrik. Thanks. My B-17 short kit comes from this guy in Germeny... http://www.cdscaledesigns.com/English/B-17G/B-17GTitel.html i dont know if he still make that short kit no more. If i would build an other one today i think my choice would be Wingspan or Don Smith. Regards // Ivan.H

RE: Palmer 132
Hello Sam. Thank You for those kind words. I`m glad to here you keep up the work on Your C-130. I understand that many guys building from Palmer plans give up, those plans are not the best on the market. You really have to use your brain.[:@] About my setup, i don`t know exactley how much i paid for it but i can tell you that it was not very expensive. You will find the prices on Hobby Kings website. This is the choice i made....4xMotors.= Turnigy SK 4260-500kv http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7871 4xESC Turnigy Plush 80 amp. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=3727 4xBatteries Flightmax 5000 20c 5s http://www.hobbyking.com/UNITEDHOBBIES/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=14382 This setup gives me about 750w per/motor. I´ll be using Master airscrew 13/8 3 blade props. Mixed flight time 10 min. I´ve been messing with glow and gas engines for allmost 60 years now and i must tell you that this is the best choice i ever made when i decided to go for electric. Good luck with your project. I´ll be following your build. I´ll post a video after my maiden. Ivan Hallberg PS. Here is a video of my 1/10 scale B-17. Also electric. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-2gcPPXYZw

Four engine help.
Hello. I have just set up my 1/12 scale four electric engine C-130 Hercules. I´m using one channel for the two inboard motors and an other channel for the outboards . On the two inboard motors i have a servo operated switch on each motor so i can switch the rotation. I use two flight mode for this where mode one is normal with all four engines running together. In flight mode two i use the same mode switch number two, to activate the two motor switches so they will run the motors backwards when i hit the throttle stik. At the same time the out board motors are turned of. The idea with this is that i want to go reverse with my model just like the full size ! My problem is that i can`t figure out how to set the two outer motors to idle. I don`t want them to react with throttle stick like the two inners. Hope some one can help me. // Ivan.H

RE: Palmer 132
Hello Henrik. I`m glad to see that your Herc is still flying well. Very very nice. I have started to work on mine again and i`m sure i will have it finished this winter. I have change my mind about the RCV 90s. After my sucsess with my B-17 converted to electric i will do the same with the Herc. The B-17 weighs 39 lb and i think the Herc will weigh about the same. The B-17 have four Turnigy 4250/700kv motors and it flyes just great. It will be about the same setup in the Herc. Maybe a littel bit more powerful. I will also add some reverse switches to the two inboard engines so i can switch to reverse on the ground ! Hope it will work. RE: Palmer 132
Hello Jan. Welcome to the Herc. gang. Nice to here that you plan to start a build of the Hercules. I started my projekt i november last year. I can tell you that it`s not the most easyest model to build, there are lots of errors in the plans so you have to scratch your head a lot. My goal is to have all the options there is, like real fowler flaps, working tailgate, landing and navigation lights and even reverse gear on the boogie wheels. How can i set up a twin that uses rudder-to-throttle mixing to have throttle aid water steering and slow speed steering ? The rudder-to-throttle mixing should not function when above half throttle.
