RE: Associated RC8Te Official Thread
I really like mine just haven't had the time to wheel it much so far this season. Whats everybody using for batteries? I need to get some that are much lighter and smaller than the 10,000's Im using from TrueRC. They are great batts and they were perfect for my erevo but they are just too big and heavy for the 8. I've been shopping and researching for months now and am still not sure where the best deal is.

Thanks... the pics look really good lol! The "glow" on em ain't near as good in person because my airbrush doesn't mist as fine as some of the higher end shooters but I'm still pretty proud of it. Probly my best work yet. I wish I'd have gotten some shots outside before I raced it saterday to send in to RC Driver. I didn't scuff it up too bad though so when i get it cleaned up I'll see if I can get it in. Thanks again for the compliments.

RE: Painting up a body!
Not to hijack ur thread or anything biut heres my latest... It is mostly fasblue and white with some spaztix mirror chrome (which I totally messed up on! lol). It is a good exmple of lots of different techniques. I used a fine tipped paint brush to do the lightning then ghosted the bolts with an airbrush. The blue and the mirror chrome were airbrushed as well. I used both masking tape AND Fasmask liquid masking. I am by no means a pro at this stuff but I really like painting. Shoot me a PM if I can help you with anything.... BTW... here is a link to some real pro's. This is probly the best RC painting sight period. RE: Associated RC8Te Official Thread
I had an MGT a few years back and I had a lot of trouble with the plastic shocks... mainly the caps poppin off. I have heard some guys say that they have been a big problem on the this truggy and some that have had no trouble at all. So anyway, the Associated aluminum upgrade kits are pretty pricey, even just the bodies and caps! Do you guys know of any drop-in replacemnts that aren't so expensive? I fixed the pop-off problem on the MGT with aluminum caps so theres a descent chance that they would work with the truggy... guess I would probably try that firts and buy the bodies later if I had too... but shiny new metal shocks all around would be even better if I could afford some! Ok so I don't really have it yet but it will be here tomarrow so I am bumping this thread for my own selfish gain! lol I see that the last post here was a while ago so I am hoping to either revive this one. Or maybe you guys can tell me of another thread that is the "Official" official RC8Te thread? Anyhoo... I can't wait to get my hands on another kit! Haven't had one since the Hellfire SS a few years ago. I been racing an ERevo last season and although it was a mean machine and I could hang with the truggies just fine, I am really looking forward to running a proper truggy again. Lets talk tires! Will AKA's such as cityblocks or I-beams fit on the Associated wheels OK?

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread
Wow... funny you should mention this problem because I have been experiencing the same thing. And both sets of diffs do it so I think the cast was alittle off when they were makin em. I ended up grinding a few teeth on the out put shaft a little wider BETWEEN the teeth. I worked on this for days and finally figured out that I had to rotate the center output shaft around till the diff "hung up" and then lift the top off and pull the diff itself out while not moving the output shaft. I then reached in with a sharpy marker and marked the teeth that were at the bump spot. It was hard to tell which one of the teeth it was for sure so I marked like three teeth right there and worked on those teeth. I knew it was one of them cause after they were marked I could put everything back together and it would allways hang up at the marked teeth. I determined that it was the center output gear because it was the only part that allways rotated around 1 time and hung up at the same spot. Have you noticed that you can set the two halves of the diff case together without any screws and they will rotate just fine? I f they do you can squeeze down on the side that the big gear is on and they should cause the bump problem. Also remember almost no differential can be tightened down real tight. or it will cause binding. Just snug up the screws holding the case together and it will turn easier. Anyway after I figured out that it must be the center output gear teeth I got my file out and started working on them. I knew I needed to be real carefull here cause removing too much material would result in a stripped gear. But after a couple of hours worth of filing wiyh no positive results I resorted to my dremel tool. I assumed the problem would be one of the points but rounding them off (I did all three) didn't help any. I then grinded just a little off of the ridges of the teeth but this didn't seem to help either. I eventually got around to removing some metal from the SIDES of the gear teeth and although I still can feel a tight spot It is a lot better than it was. Anyhoo you can try this or not it's up to you but please be carefull not to remove any more metal than is absolutely necassary. I have not run my revo since I made this mod so I can't even be sure that the diff is still going to hold up. Anyway I have been having heat issues so I was checking for binding and things like that when I found the diff problem. This is what I came up with and like I said... take it or leave it, it's up to you. Just please be carefull if you break out the high speed rotary tools on your diffs! lol

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread
Hey how isa everybody? I am having heat issues all of a sudden I was club racin Sunday and I think I may have shut down on a thermal overload. I saw the motor hit at least 160 degrees and i think the ESC got up to 150 a couple ofd times. Gear ratios are all stock. Spur is 68T Pinion is 16T Novak 6.5 can and ESC combo with 2 x 7.4 volt 10C lipos What do ya'all think? Should I be gearing it different to lower engine temps? Things were fine back when the days were 60 degrees or so but now that it's getting warmer, probly 90 degrees at the track the other day, I am afraid that the motor and ESC are gonna be too hot. Batts seem to be fine, never get above slightly warm to the touch.

I have worked on my share plastic diff housings so I know you can't go to torquin em down but these revo diffs are a little rediculous. I feel like I can't get them at all tight before they start binding. I saw a a thread where a guy was using losi diffs out of an LST or something but he had to modify them a lot. As many company's as there are that make hop-up parts for the Revo you'd think it would be easy but I'm not findin any. FYI... RPM bearings BLOW! I have allways run RPM plastic but there bearings are toast after only like 4 races!
ORIGINAL: EReVoNuT
ORIGINAL: mycarisaser I loved how well the extended rear arms made the truck feel BUT I couldnt keep a rear bulkhead in her either. Since I have put the rpm rear arms on I havent broke a bulk since(Broke 8 of them with the extended rear arms)
Are you useing the True-trac RPMs in the rear?
I put the true tracsa on. One of the first upgrades I did. I wasn't real impressed with fit. Had to do a LOT of reamin through the hinges to get them to loosen up and not bind. Buuuut.... since the initial installation I haven't had any issues. None of the problems with flexin too much or anything. Haven't broken anything yet and I hated to see retaining clips on the carriers but they haven't popped off. Anyhoo after the initial install, and although I've allways been a big RPM fan and have to admit that the install was a real PITA, I have been happy with them. I run RPM's all around. LOL come to think of it I remember having to remove some material from the arms I got for my MGT a couple years ago. They rubbed against the bulkheads and caused binding. But after a little grinding, no problem!

Sweet you should really like it! I have been argueing with some guys on another forum about the pros and cons of electric vs nitro... not so much argueing really as just teasing eachother but they just don't get it. I can outrun them, out torque them, I don't have to worry about an engine tune, no messy fuel, and I havent had to buy anything RC related since I got my Ero all together and running! AND I took second place in a field full of nitros last weekend. I used to own like 4 different nitro vehicles but I wouldn't take one now if you try'd to give it to me! OK well maybe if you wanted to really just give it to me! LOL

This is where I got mine. I'm using the 7.4 volt 10,000 Mah 2s2p. Be aware that you have to make em fit! I posted pics earlier in the thread of what I did to the batt doors so the batts would fit and then you have to do something to secure the leads so they don't get caught in the suspension. So far I,m totally happy with them. http://www.truerc.net/canada/shop/10000mah.html

Great idea man never thought of that one! So this is for all of us ERevo guys... Took 2nd in MT class at the club races yesterday. Had a rough couple of qualifiers, came out dead last in one and bout 3rd I think in the second. But in the Main I fell into the groove and held third till some poor nitro guy lost his RX batts and I grabbed onto 2nd. Everybody out there last night was talkin about the electrics. I don't think they had ever had that many of us at the club at once. There was me, a guy with nitro revo conversion, my buddy with a Eight conversion, and then another converted buggy (not sure on the make). My buddy took 3rd with his converted 8ight in Sportsman. Anyhoo there was a lotta nitro-butt kickin goin on last night in Joplin MS. Just thought you guys would enjoy hearin it!

RE: THE Official Traxxas E-REVO Thread
It's hard to say from here but if you suspect something is wrong in the tranny you'll just have to tear into it and check it out. You'd be lookin for missing gear teeth or broken drive pins... etc. Actually the first time I free-rolled my Ero I thought there was something wrong myself! Ther is nothing wrong with mine though, it's just noisy. If you do pull it apart I suggest that you print out a copy of the exploded view belo so you will have it sittin right there when you take it apart. It can be intimidating to take apart a tranny... just take your time, find someway to keep track of where each screw came out off, and I allways pull the tranny halfs apart really slowly and try to get a good mental picture or even draw it out and takes some notes on what it looked like as it came apart. Most importantly take you time and after being in there a couple of times it will be no big deal to yank it apart and repair. http://www.traxxas.com/PDF-Library/5605_tranny.pdf
