i think i had it at 19/45 not sure if it is mentioned in the video... but now i run it at 16/45 (been a long time since i even seen the lil thing) the run times are longer.. about 12minutes or so.. and it has all the power i need for the track and it stays cool.. had to use steel ball diffs cause i was chewing up gears from the massive torque..

might be worth getting the chassis then and improve on the stability of the ST and the BUGGY... im sure with a lil tuning you can get most of the turning radius back,,

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
ORIGINAL: Aloha Flyer
ORIGINAL: Aloha Flyer Hey guys, I'm a lover not a hater so I hope I can get some help with a unique project I want to start. Bought a used and what appears to be stock Vendetta ST from Ebay. A month back I also purchased a E-Revo VXL BL Motor and ESC. I want to put the two together. The initial size up shows the VXL's Motor is longer (37mm vs 48mm) and has a slightly wider diameter (27 vs 28 or 28.5mm). Of course the VXL Motor immediately has a conflict with the large stock servo. I bought a spare VXL servo that seems to do the trick concerning size. A custom mount could be fashioned. The largest logistical problem I have is the pinion and/or spur gear selection. The VXL's motor shaft diameter appears to be significantly greater than the stock Vendetta (about 2.5mm vs 3.2?- Damn misplaced my micrometer). I guess I could bore the Vendetta pinions. 1. Is this project still possible? 2. What gearing suggestions do you have? 3. What upgrades do you suggest- Drive Train, Suspension?, Lipo sizes (2 or 3S) Thanks for any help.
Hard to find the gearing tooth size for the stock Vendetta pinion [:o] What I think I will start with is to buy the 19T Vendetta Pinion from Towerhobbies and bore it to 3.2mm I think the stock 11T will probably be too small.....But I don't really know. I am not good with this gearing stuff!
im not understanding why you would want to do this... just buy the robinson racing metric pinions... they are made from steel and will last forever.. unlike alloy pinions

RE: OFFICIAL Detta ST THREAD **********
ORIGINAL: flipside7 I emailed dtx, suggesting that theyoutfit a said chassis with alum. shock bushings, steel diffs and outdrives, and replace the aluminum parts with cf. Use the graphite chassis, gearbox covers, and rear knuckles. I mentioned as a traxxas show stopper, add the carbon chassis. They could use already produced parts saving a lot of $, as well as take some market back. I suggested this as a roller, with no electronics, and price pointed @ $250-275 I got the regular auto response, so I'm guessing they passed on it. Funny thing, most companies can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag when it comes to new models, and they seem to be completely out of it when it comes to what people are looking for. If any one of you hot there were put in the r&d seat at duratrax, you'd come up with something 20 times better than what their answer would be, if they even answer. If there was a ready to rock vendetta released around the time traxxas hit with their minis, I bet that it wouldve been hotly debated on which was best, and sales wouldve divided. I know that my buddies e revo 1/16 can't even compete with my vendetta buggy, so to me, the proof is in the pudding, but dtx released a rally version??? Would you have??? Oh well, I got my fingers crossed.
during the course of my driving experience with the vendetta... i have sent DTX countless emails.. detailing things that needs improvements.. nothing was done..

oh man.. i should have never seen this thread... looks like im going to have to do a lil compare and contrast between this hyper mini and the mini e-revo... why not use a motor that has enough power to not heat up easily,,, but can give you all the speed you need without using 3s (or more) lipos ... im a 2s lipo man.. so i would like to know if anyone has had any luck using a big enough motor with just 2s lipo.. i prefer the classic NEU motor..
ORIGINAL: KRO
ORIGINAL: dacaur I don't know if I'm weird or what, but I don't really see the point of looking for more power than the stock setup provides.... I guess it looks cool doing speed runs up and down the street, but how long is that really fun? You can only really use so much power once you leave the street....
I totally agree , the stock system is plenty powerful for this truck , no need for more . I have been using a CC Sidewinder micro ESC and its been working great ! Much smoother startup and and braking , and reverse is set at 50% so its not so sudden like the VXL3m . Put a heatsink on the motor and ESC and now it will run a full pack on 3s without shutting down .
tell that to the guys that insist on running 2s lipos for moe speed.. and 3s and 4s and so on.. nothing wrong with haing more than enough.. so whenever its called upon to use.. you have it there readily available.. but instead of running multiple cells.. the NEU motors will allow you to reach those speeds with just a 2s lipo..
