RE: opinion on
I bought the dual 700 conversion. Its ok if you want something better than stock than traxxas crappy motors. But its not much faster and they make ur truck extremly heavy. I had a problem getting nimh batteries that wouldn't melt running the motors. So I went lipo then finally went brushless cause I wanted the truck to be faster. It just depends on what you want. I would think you would be just as well of with the single conversion as you would the dual. Then you would have less weight and less load on your batteries. Good luck.

rc10 not sure how old
I recently was giving a rc10 gold pan chassis not sure how old it is or if it runs. It has the slider speed controller and wing nuts on the rear wheels. Anyone know where I can find more info on this buggy. I'd like to try and get it running all original if possible. I even have the original box and some paperwork. But I have no controller and my receiver says it runs on 75.550 mhz all the servos and receiver is Futaba. Anyways any info would be great mainly wondering how old this thing is. I'll try to get pics up later.

Oh yea and also I replaced my receiver box turns out that helped alot to it does what I tell it to now instead of no throttle then all throttle at once. Still need to buy another wheelie bar but I'll get around to it eventually.

RE: emaxx handling
Well I'm getting my handling problems under control I lowered my ride height to the lowest settings and that helped alot. I want brushless cause I want the speed. Also my mix match tires was cause I had a blow out apparently I plugged my esc in I forgot to set my throttle position so as soon as I turned it on it went WOT and exploded my tire before I could shut it down. I'm trying now to find the right gearing to keep my motor temps down. Just got a 14t pinion gear in to try and see how that goes it's what novak recommends off there website. I wish the had waterproof brushless esc's.

RE: overheating brushless novak motor
Thanks t9dragon and your right that combo is designed for the emaxx . Unfortunately I couldn't find my temp gun at the time but the system shutdown and you couldn't touch the motor way to hott. Also I'm not making random guesses for my pinion selection I put the 20t on it cause its what I had then after bashing for a few minutes which consisted of some hard runs and bashing it got hott. So I looked up novaks site and the recommend for what I have 12 or 13t pinions

overheating brushless novak motor
I'm looking for ways to lower my motor temps on my emaxx. I'm running the novak hv setup with the novak hv esc and the novak 6.5 pro motor. I'm running a 68 spur gear and 20 something pinion. I know thats kinda high after just a few high speed passes. So I've order a 12t pinion gear and was thinking of ordering a heatsink I found for that motor. Should this be enough to get my temps down to a decent level or is there more I should do. Was thinking of cutting holes in my windsheild like I use to run my revo with. Whats your opions on this one guys.

Thats one good looking free truck. How come I never come along these deals. But thats alot of aluminum hope you dont bend or break any of it. It's expensive to replace. But congradulations on the new truck hope you enjoy it.

RE: WHATS BETTER ABOUT ELECTRIC THAN NITRO
I personally like them both. I had a revo 3.3 that I sold cause I needed money. Yes it took money for fuel and glow plugs and I had to tune it cause I drove it year round. But I bought my emaxx when I got the time and extra money thinking it would be cheaper and easier. So far it's been neither cheaper or easier cause if you want a fast truck you have to go brushless then you need lipo batteries and chargers. Plus you have to be able to solder which I suck at. But once your in it and all setup its nice to just throw the batteries in the truck and run. But what I miss about nitro was I could run as many tanks as I wanted in one outting. Now I'm limited to how many sets of batteries I have charged and when they go dead I have t wait for them to charge back up. So they are both a blast and personally if you want electric to save money just stay with your nitro truck cause brushless motors and esc's and batteries and etc... Add up quick when you figure it all up. I think when I get the time and more money I'll be finding another revo 3.3, but I won't get rid of my emaxx either.

RE: emaxx handling
Well I lowered my ride height. It helped alot however its very squirrely because my antenna wire got ripped off some so hopefully when I get that replaced and put a wheely bar back on that should solve alot of my problems. Didn't realize the ride height made such a difference. I think I will probably stay with my lipos too. After thinking it over more I like the extra power when I want it plus run time is alot better with them.

RE: emaxx handling
Actually I need to lower my gearing its to high and my motor is getting hot. But I am lowering it and thought of maybe going back to my nimh batteries to reduce the power a bit untill I can control it better. Here's some pics I snapped on my phone getting ready to tweak it some. I ripped my antenna off and lost my wheelie bar on a crash so I'm waiting on some parts. It still runs but sometimes does what it wants so that should help my control more to when I get those replaced.

RE: emaxx handling
I had replaced the springs because the original ones were to soft for my kd700 ho conversion. It kept bottoming out. Then I went with a novak hv brushless setup now it screams but you cant controll it. But I cant find a way to do punch control or any other setting changes because I didnt have the originally paperwork cause I bought it used. I'm sure I'll mess around and get my settings to where I like it. Its just my first couple outtings I kept flipping constantly it wheelies like a monster even from a rolling start. and cartwheels as soon as u even think of turning. I'll lower it and maybe change my springs back to stock.

emaxx handling
I've recently made my emaxx brushless however now my truck has no handling. Everytime I even think of turning it rolls over flips very unstable at any kind of speed. Any help I'm bout tired of messing with it. Maybe I'll find a erevo roller or just go back to nitro I miss my revo 3.3. I originally thought electric would be less of a pain than tuning and the extra care nitro takes. But Electric has just been pain after pain lol.

You can run lipos on a brushed truck they make low voltage alarms u can just plug into the balancing plug on the battery then they let out a loud whistle once the battery starts getting low

mini vs fullsize erevo
I was curious how are the mini erevo's for bashing do you get stuck much and are they still prety fast versus the full size erevo. I use to have a revo 3.3 and loved it thing could go anywhere and took one heck of a bashing. The only plus I can see with the mini is that even brushless it's still waterproof. My son has a brushless stampede are they comparable to it in speed. Iknow his 2wd stampede gets stuck even in leaf piles and stuff.

RE: Stampede XL-5 Questions
there's only one size of the stampede. I prefer the brushless over the brushed personally. I've had alot of problems with traxxas brushed motors. But as far as 2wd or 4x4 thats up to you. the 2wd is cheaper than the 4x4 one but the brushed one is cheaper than the brushless. My son beats his truck hard and it seldom breaks since i upgraded his brushed one to brushless. As far as batteries if you go with lipo batteries and something like a 2s lipo with a 5000mah rating you'll get tons of run time compared to the similar sized nimhs. Then the onyx 245 charger can charge dual lipos so your not waiting on batteries to charge as much. Anyway you go the stampede is a great entry level truck that you both will enjoy for quite awhile.

RE: Stampede XL-5 Questions
The stampede is a fun truck. My son love his. It definitely takes a beating and you can go with the stock brushless stampede and it's still waterproof. He runs his off regular nimh batteries even with it being brushless its still stupid fast but you can do training mode on the esc. I highly recomend it as a starter truck plus now you can get it as 4x4.

Are u sure u have the right tranny housing or the right slipper clutch if your old tranny housing has a groove in it. Maybe u have the wrong slipper setup and its rubbing the new housing.

Hey Masterhacker I bought those springs you suggested. By far the best dollar I've spent yet they are way stronger than the stock springs. Even with the heavy motors.

crimp or solder????
Which is better? I'm about tired of fighting with soldering my battery connectors. So I was curious wouldn't it do just as good of a job if I were to crimp the battery connectors on. I'm trying to use a set of deans connectors and was thinking if I got a female connector I could crimp it onto my battery wires the just connect that to me deans. Would it work whats the cons to doing it this way.

Yes the blue wire just pushes and snaps onto the top of the glow plug. Or you can go to Hobby shop and buy a glow plug ignitor if u didn't wanna use the blue wire. But if your motor isn't turning over when u use the ezstart there may be something wrong with the motor or ezstart can u turn the motor over by hand.
