yes i did and it was fine. some people have used the pitts and said it was quieter. but the stock muffler was loud but not to bad.

quique had a video of one of his planes with that motor and pull out was very slow. tuned pipes might be the way to go but that would include more weight and modifications. the mld 28 is a great motor for this plane. and maybe even the dle30 but not sure what the weight is. by the way i am going to sell my mld 28. just got back from cermark with a check up and it's ready to go. $200.

there was someone that posted about that engine along time ago and said the power with that motor was not that great. especially for the cost of the engine.

i bought the carbon landing gear for this yak and there was no weight advantage. it is the exact same weight as the stock gear. the big difference is the carbon gear is alot stiffer. i liked the stock aluminum gear better.

if you were shot down from no fault of your own you home owners insurance should pay for the loss. i had a friend get shot down and they covered it. i called my insurance agent and he said my planes are covered aslong as i don't crash it.

one thing you need to check is, is the standoff distance the same or very close to the dl and mld? the mld justs fits with not much room to spare.

the mld 28 is still a great choice. plenty of power to spare. im sure you cant go wrong with either engine but i have had the mld and was very impressed. just make sure with either engine you purchase get it from cermark, or cheif for the mld or get the dl from a us distrubutor.

sorry for the late reply but didn't notice any difference. you still have to tune as normal. but being that top end power increased i would have to believe consumption had to alittle but i still used the stock tank. i have a perry pump on all my saito's what a difference.

RE: MLD-28 gasoline engine
i always suggested using a 4.8v battery on ignition. you will gain no performance difference going to a 6v battery. infact in therory 4.8v will generate less circuit board heat than 6v thus help keeping the circuit board in good working order. you may get alittle more flight time out of a 6v battery than a 4.8 because the battery will have more reserve. i mean this by the ignition wants a certain amount of energy to run say .5 amp at 4.8v. so if it is at 6v it has a higher voltage so it will require alittle less amperage say .4 amps. it's not exact and if you need exact im sure i can figure it out for you but i think you get the big picture. hope this helps

RE: MLD-28 gasoline engine
if you have another battery to try just use that. then you can eliminate the entire battery all together. you did say that the spark plug boot was pushed in all the way, were it's almost to the hex portion of the spark plug. it should be very tough to install and snap into place.

it is true the metal gear servo's are more money but once you get into the larger planes like this for example it is the price we have to pay. if not it's a short term investment. i would rather spend alittle more and insure that this plane won't go down due to equiptment failure.

RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
well i would have to imagine that they recomend that motor because it is good enough to fly it and it is safe for the airframe. the servo's i would have to say that it is what they determined what would be the minimum choice to use on the control surfaces that would be safe and reliable. we always go over kill on engines, including myself but try to save money else were. servo's are so criticle to keeping an airplane alive and in one piece just don't see a need to try the cheaper route in servo's when you can have a $1000 wrapped up in this plane.

RE: Introducing the new 90-1.20 Yak QB
its not the hard core 3d at zero airspeed that kills servo's are far as flutter its normal higher speed cruising. the 3d substall manuverse if you don't have a large enough servo just will have a hard time moving the control surface. blow back. the cruising is always appling force on that control surface so you need the torque and the stronger gear train to keep everything exactly were it should be at high speed. i had a control horn pop off of my yak at it was at higher speed and i almost lost the plane because of the flutter. i was able to get it to a slow speed and the flutter was gone. and landed safely

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHKB0&P=ML they still are about the same power as the ds821. aeroworks recommends 130 oz servo with metal gear. i would stick to that.

no war here[:D] but are you sure that it is 8lbs, it's suppost to be 5-5.5 lbs and im sure the ailerons are way bigger. this yak has a 72" wing span and the mojo 55". http://www.swanyshouse.com/mojo60/mojo60.aspx unless im looking at the wrong one. the mojo calls for a 70oz servo while the yak calls for a 130oz and 180 on rudder.

the aeroworks yak is not a .60 sized airplane it is a 90-120 sized and almost twice the weight. and larger control surfaces.
