Which 4WD Kit is most ready to accept brushless?
Still kicking around the idea of which kit to build and wanted to get some input on which kit is ready to handle brushless power as is? I know I can and probably will add some hop-ups regardless, but if you were building a kit stock which one would be ready to handle brushless power? This would be primarily for bashing with a possibility of racing in the future.

RTR Brushless Kits
Is there a clear front runner quality/bang for buck/parts availability etc etc ... all the things we find important in R/C for the ready to run brushless systems out there? I''m still thinking about buying one versus just upgrading my Evader ... 2 cars are more fun than one, but I can''t decide to go with Losi, Traxxas, and now HPI looks to have a kit. I''m probably missing some too. Thoughts?

Is there a clear front-runner motor/esc wise for a 1/8 conversion yet? Isn't Castle coming out with something soon?

Lots of choices here for charging ...
Is there a clear winner right now for ease of use and overall usability (cell count, battery type, balance or no balance etc) or are there a lot of options equally good?

Will these become mainstrain considering the popularity of 1/8 scale nitro and the popularity/power of brushless motors?

RE: The Evader Coalition ~ T.E.C.
I bought new wheels for my Evader ST. They are the DurTrax yellow wheels. I got a set for the front and the back. Now for the stupid question: if I tighten the front wheels all the way down even using washers the wheel dont spin freely. I swapped the bushings/sleeve with the front stock tires. I don't think I've ever taken the front wheels off until now so that being said should I have to leave the nut just a tad from fully tightened so the wheels spin freely or should the wheels be turning on the sleeve even all the way tight? Thanks!

Ooops! What damage did i do?
So I'm carefully swapping out my Tamiya for Traxxas high current conenctor with my battery pack... I do one side at a time and have a brain fart and decide to use the conenctor I just soldered to push the other side deeper into the channel. DUH! Anyways .. couple of arcs and a fraction of a second of the positive and negative terminals touching each other on a nearly fully charged 8.4v 7cell nimh ..what damage did I likely do to the battery? It still works, but almost seems like it may have lost some uumphh ... anything I can do to try and re-condition it if I did do any damage?

Tires destoryed?
I got some new wheels and tried to pull my tires off the old ones without boiling them in some water first. One side came off easily and another left a little bit of the tire bound to the rim. Should I even attempt to re-use these tires with a small gauge of the inner tire lip missing or just replace them and call it a lesson learned? There's only one spot less than a 1/4 inch that is affected though.

What could I buy/rigg up to charge multiple single sub c-cells?
I've got a bunch of 1200mah nicad sub-c's that came out of OLD Tamiya packs. I want to use these for a glow plug starter and would like to be able to charge them at the same time. At least some of them. I've got a Piranha Peak charger... any thoughts.

Battery and Motor gets hot, ESC does not
17t and 4500mah 8.4 7 cell with an Evader ST's ESC. Motor gets hot and battery gets hot... battery somewhat, motor very hot ... I'm about to swap all my Tamiya connectors to Traxxas High Current .. I imagine that might help, but is there something else I should look into?

RE: 501x v. Dark Impact price difference
The question is still some what out there though ... upgrade the DI with all the hop-ups that would be the same as the 501x and there is still a huge price-gap. Why? Do the manufacturers build in R&D prices to their high end kits maybe? What I'm getting at, is other than the belt versus shaft, what parts on the 501 make it so much more expensive after you upgrade the DI to aluminum and Carbon-fiber?

501x v. Dark Impact price difference
What are the upgrades that causes such a massive price difference between these two kits? I know the 501x is a racer amd the DI is a basher/could become a racer with hop-ups, but wow such a price difference. They are both based on the same chassis right? I'm just curious what separates the "racers" from the "bashers" and justifies this kind of $$$. EDIT: Also, the B44 Factory Team is $320 at Tower versus $520 for the 501x ... again same question as above, but now comparing two racers ... what justifies the price gap?

RE: Sidewinder vs vxl
Not to de-rail this thread, but I am considering the same thing as the original poster. Question I have is can I easily chop off the Traxxas conector and add deans to the Velineon system? I'm about to replace all my Tamiya conectors all around on my packs and was going to go Deans, but if I buy the VXL system I was at least considering the Traxxas connectors. P.S. which are more expensive, Deans or Traxxas ?

Reverse Fried on my Evader
Hey guys, I've lost reverse on my Evader. It has a Traxxas XL-1 speed control. Here are the symptoms/signs.. - Power on the buggy and no spin from the tires like usual - Forward works fine - Speed control LED turns red when I push reverse on the controller like normal, but nothing happens - No sound at all from the motor when in reverse now ..like it isn't getting any juice Any ideas what I might try to fix this?

RE: Fastest 16t-19t for bashing (low maintenance)
So I went the cheap route thinking no big deal to replace it if necessary and got a 17t Venom motor at the LHS for 18 bucks... and WOW!!! I can't believe how much faster this thing is!!! I went from a 6 cell 7.2 on the stock evader motor to 8.4 7-cell 4500 tenergy on the new motor .. this thing wants to life the front end off the ground and will actually spin my dirt hawgs on the pavement a bit (with a little slickness anyways). Anyways, this is pretty kewl and I got some serious instant satisfaction seeing the performance increase.

Fastest 16t-19t for bashing (low maintenance)
Still trying to decide which motor to invest in for upgrading my stocks Evader ST. I have an ESC that will go down to 16t so that is my limitation. I bought a Tenergy 8.4v 7cell and my motor and ESC get way too hot. I need to upgrade to Deans as well, but that's another topic.

Brushless this Brushless that ..
There are so many options when going brushless that it seems kinda hard to keep up with everything. If I was looking to buy a brushless system for bashing, but maybe one day racing at the local track, what would I buy? I'd probably race 1:10 4WD if I ever raced. There are a lot of new systems out there, the sidewinder, the velinion, xcelorin .. then there are the old and proven, mamba, novak etc. So when I do finally narrow it down I have to decide all this Kv stuff. Differing rules of thumb for off-road and power source, whether I am nimh or lipo etc etc. Is there a happy medium for those of us bashing with nimh technology who might one day get into racing and lipo and would love to be able to keep our brushless system? Thanks for any input.

RE: Titan 12t into my Evader ST = change pinion/spur?
Until I get into racing which will likely then mean brushless anyways for the local track; I'd like to stick with minimal/zero maintenance motors. I'd just as soon replace a not terribly expensive motor rather than rebuild em. Is that 19t fairly cheap like the Titan?

Titan 12t into my Evader ST = change pinion/spur?
Hey guys, I'm still new to all this pinion/spur ratios and motor turns etc. So I want to get a Titan 12t to put in my stock Evader ST. I believe the Evader ST stock is an 88 spur and 20t pinion. I have no clue what the pitch means.... So if I wanted to keep my spur gear stock and run this new motor what pinion should I get? Thanks.
