RE: SavageXl5.9turbo4500rpm
Yea how they are setup now they dont work. If they would redsigne them so that the super charger fit in to the crank case and the carb fit in to the supercharger then it would be a much better setup. Other wise the pressure just pushes the fuel back from the carburetor in to the fuel tank. Any carbureted supercharged or turbo'ed engine will have the carburetor completly enclosed in the pressureized air box other wise it wont draw fuel like it should. I am sure R&B's design istn the best ethire, since their super (paper) filter is just a crank case filter for a 1:1 car that can be bought for a couple of bucks at an automotive parts house.

RE: aluminum foil tape for bodies
Usually a heat tape has a thin layer of aluminum to reflect the heat off the area, and it is backed by an insulator, usually fiberglass.

RE: SavageXl5.9turbo4500rpm
A Turbo RC engine generally refers to the style of Glow Plug. You have the standard plug that uses a copper gasket to seal. Then you have a Turbo plug that has a tapered nose that seals against the head like most 1:1 use.

RE: Xl rear turnbuckle ends, handling
I think that the shuttering when letting off the throttle is bacause of the play in the front end. The steering bell cranks can move up and down on the steel shafts. That changes the lenght of the tie rods a little bit wich cause the tires to go in and out. You just notice it more when letting off the throttle because the weight is transfered to the front wheels when slowing down. When your on the throttle there isnt as much weight on the front tires so it doesnt effect it as much. josh

I also run the suspension conversion kit. It is a nice upgrade but it is expensive. If your on a budget it isnt nessessary. If you go 100 dollar servo's then this is just part of the truck.

No you can't. I used some rods made for air plane controls. I can't remember what size it was. Hobby town had a couple of different sizes. They also had some that was all threads and some that just had threads probaby 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch one one end. That is what you wan so the sliders will slide smoothly.

Contact boca bearings and get a pair of bearings from them. Leave both seals on the front bearing. That way you will have better protection.

I can just spray Brake Clean in the center hole and it will clean out the one way with out even removing the engine from the savage

The After Run oil from Trinity is just as thin as WD-40. Hobbico's aro is probably just automatic transmission fluid.

RE: Savage XL - 60 days of hell
ORIGINAL: avoidsthelight osh - odesnt that only happen when you dont drive them everyday or does nitro have a short shelf life?
The fuel doesnt go bad. It happens to an engine if you leave an engine sit with out any after run oil, and you have been running a caster oil based fuel. The engine will clean its self out because of the amount of fuel that passes through it. The one way doesnt have that happen to it. It gets oil seeping from the crank case in it. There is no high amount of fuel passing through it to clean it out. A high oil content will cause the one way to slip weather it is a synthetic oil or caster oil. I run Blue Thunder HP8 and every now and then get a slipping one way. Usually after it has sat for a couple of weeks. It only has 8% oil. Of that 8%, 6% is caster oil and 2% is synthetic. 8% is pretty low oil content but it is mostly caster oil. Caster oil protects really well, but it burns dirty and gets gummy when it sets open to the air. Here is a tip for you. I drilled a small hole in the center of the roto start back plate. Then I dilled a small hole in the bottom (drain hole) of the roto start plate. That way when I get a slipping one way. RE: Savage XL - 60 days of hell
Oil doesnt ruin one ways. Get you a can of Brake Clean. When it starts slipping take the one way out and spray it with some break clean to clean it out. The oil content doesnt nessissarly cause the slippage. I think the caster oil that is in some fuels is what causes it. It gets loaded up with caster oil. As the caster oil sits it becomes gummy and that is what causes your problems. josh

That is my point exactly. I have never once contacted HPI for warrenty wineing. If my truck breaks I fix it. As for not having any good feedback vs everybody saying they are crap. It is like anyting else. What are the chances that some one tells you good job at work vs. everyone letting you know you scewed up.

Yep nitro rc isnt for every one. If you cant change the oil on your full size car, I wouldnt recomend a nitro rc of any brand, type or scale.

RE: Can I run my buggy on that > ?
With no nitro it will be slow and sluggesh. If your going to try it use Klotz Supertechniplate oil. It is 80% Synthetic and 20% Benol Caster oil. It blends with methanol and ethanol, as well as gasoline, and nitromethan. Most 2 stroke oils sold in stores wont blend with Methanol or Ethanol. It is like mixing water and oil.

You might be better off running the ofna pipe if your dead set on running the stock header. I believe it comects like the hpi pipes. Using a silicone pipe coupler and 2 zip ties.

What was wrong with the dual pad slipper that the F4.1 came with? That way it clamps the spur gear inbetween two large plates. Instead of putting all the clamping force on the small center bronz bushing that the spring rides on

RE: savage xl 5.9 verry dissapointed
I dont know it just happens. Look at it this way. Your truck is scaled down do size, but your still running big hp. Say your 5.9 makes 3.5 hp. That is about 0.6 hp per cc. 600hp 1000cc street bike engine, or a 3,382 HP 350 chevy. Blowing a rear end out or breaking a chain is going to happen. The rear diff in your savage isnt overly larger for the size of the truck. The savage started out as a .21 and gone through some big changes power, but you cant say HPI did nothing for the rear differentials. They went from a 2 spider gear plastic diff cup To a 4 gear plastic diff cup machined gears(X F4.1) To a 4 gear aluminum diff cup with machined gears, (X F4.6) To 4 gear aluminum cup with harden gears and hd axle shafts (xl setup) To 4 gear aluminum diff cup with hd bearing on the ring gear, hardened gears, hd axles (flux) And now they have the HD "Bullit Proof" diff gears, wich fit all savages back to the begining with the Savage 21.

I just didn't want you to be stuck waiting on parts. When you get your own savage parts house supplied then it doesn't matter what you break. I could probably build a savage out of parts that I have.

If you just install 1 diff then the front and rear diffs will have different gear ratios. They will turn at different speeds.
