Is the MCX and MSR swashplates interchangable
I tried to install a MSR swashplate on my MCX on the advice of a friend but is won't slide onto the outer shaft. Do I need to remove the metal bearing from the MSR swashplate to get it to fit? Or is my buddy wrong about the MSR and MCX swashplates being interchangable? jc

RE: How much longer will 72mhz be around?
ORIGINAL: foxx Jccc, I have built and flown RC planes for close to 30 years now, but I have been out of the hobby for the past few years due to illness. My membership to AMA has laplsed. I am trying to inch my way back into the hobby again. The club I was a member does not allow anybody to fly without AMA membership.
Foxx- Ok then. Welcome back to the hobby. I hope recover fully and begin flying RC again. Best wishes. Below is my questioning you about your seamingly negative comments about the FCC and below that is a paraphasing of Greg Hahn's comments in the November 09 Model Aviation. I don't know where you get the idea that the FCC 'has never been happy' and '72 band "wasted" ' by the modelers. The FCC agreed to allow modelers use a section of 72Mhz, narrow band. The advent of the use 2.4 ghz and 5.8 and 900 frequencys leaves the 72Mhz less desireable by other industies. To sum up what Greg Hahn wrote in the AMA magazine...'there have been no attempts to ban'..... 'by the FCC or any other government agency pertaining to our use of 72mhz'. Also, he indicates that there has been 'no talk of completely eliminating that type(72mhz) of equipment.' jc

RE: How much longer will 72mhz be around?
ORIGINAL: foxx I don't get the AMA magazine, so I don't what Gerg Hahn had to say, please post a summary. FCC has never been happy that the 72 mhz band is ''wasted'' by the modelers . If AMA stop supporting and fighting to keep 72 mhz band for modelers we will lose this band in a heart beat. I have no problem if the big boys like 2.4 , but if we lose 72 mhz the financial loss for people like me would be great.
And why don't you get the AMA magazine? You are not a member of AMA? You are worried about the 'financial loss for people like me"? How about your financial loss if you injury someone with your RC plane? Do you have really good insurance to fill the gap that is filled by AMA membership insurance? To sum up what Greg Hahn wrote in the AMA magazine...'there have been no attempts to ban'..... RE: Transmitter frequencies??
ORIGINAL: AWorrest
ORIGINAL: skinsman6394 So how to I know if an rc airplane is within these frequencies?
The 72 MHz frequencies you listed for Japan are a subset of the legal frequencies for the US. We can use one of fifty different aircraft frequencies. My experience with mail order houses that sell these combos is that they normally don't pay any attention to which frequency they send out. You should contact them before placing an order. Allan
I agree. Go to Nitroplanes' support and ask.

RE: Request for a review of several radio systems or best bang for my buck.
ORIGINAL: Alex7403 For me it’s much more important how the Tx feels in my hands than if its 8 or 10 channels, same with service, prices, ease of handling and variety of other gear like servos, switches, receivers is important but is not covered or compared anywhere Alex
You said it all yourself....it's a personal choice of how the TX feels in a person's hands. All the big manufacturers make very fine radios with plenty of features. To rate them #1, 2 or 3 is just splitting hairs. You can argue all day about which one is #1. It comes down to matter of personal taste. jc
ORIGINAL: AB Bob Five more years, tops. You won't be able to buy a new 72Mhz TX, and you'll be scrounging for repair parts shortly after that.....[sm=cry_smile.gif]
I think there are alot more years than just '5 tops', of life with 72mhz. Radio South will continue to service and repair 72 mhz gear. Willaims Brothers stopped making pinball machines about ten years ago and there all kinds of parts manufacturing and repair businesses that restore pinball machines. RC had 7 years just to switch from wide band channels to narrow band. jc

RE: Problem with Canon Zr-200 camcorder
The tape hasn't been recorded on through the end of the tape. The gray bars are there on the TV and the veiw finder of the Camcorder and on it's viewing screen. The bars are there also in the computer editing software. The camcorder is about 3 years old, and had only one previous owner. The camcorder worked fine for two years I've had it but I didn't use it very ofter.. I wonder if the heads need cleaning,.. I've had issues also with the camcorder accepting the tape if I take it out and them load it again. It ejects the tape cassette. It had a warning once of condinsation aand had to dry out before it would work again. I think I'll get a head cleaning cassette and try that. jc

carl- You got me on this one. I'm not sure what you are asking. 35mhz in England has channels that are of a specific frequency just like 72 mhz in the USA. A synthisized RX on 35mhz with operate on any of those channels it is tuned to. And a synthisized TX it was broadcast on any 35mhz channel it is tuned to. Any one like to help Carl out? Jc

RE: Return to flying-radio input: Airtronics RDS8000, Futaba 7C or Spektrum DX7
ORIGINAL: tdonily but the local club uses Futaba with a few JR/Spektrum thrown in.
If you are a good flyer, even if you are alittle rusty, ask some of your club freinds if you can take over the controls of their planes to get the feel of the TX they use. Buying what the majority at your field are using will give you some local support, but buy the one you like the feel of. Also, a caution-the three brands of TX will only function with the same brand of RX. No compatability between brands. Good luck and welcome back to the hobby. jc

RE: TrackerIII @ 2.4GHz Assan X8-hack module?

Adamdb was looking for a way to hack into the TIII. I don't see anything about it lately. I notice you've been on that thread too. I also use the TIII and love it. I have no problem in my area with 72mhz so I'm sticking with that for now. I like the very wide range of 72 RXs that work with the TIII. I'll bet Radio South would be able to hack the Assan unit into the TIII if that's something that they would do. Good luck, jc

Great!! Plus, while using the 72 radio to train on, you can teach the student about the frequency board and it's pins. The student may never have to use the frequency board after he's soloing and buying his own equipment , but atleast he will be aware of the 'old school' 72 mhz system. jc
