RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
I don't have the slick but I can tell you the aw edge is a great first gasser. Great instructions and built extremely strong. Jeff

I don't know where you would start on removing weight except maybe the ignition battery could come out with a good ibec. I've done it on my other planes. It already has carbon fiber gear, tubes, and spinner. If you do lighten it in another way I would sure be interested in your plans. Jeff

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
ORIGINAL: dp2826 I still can't get the snap out of this thing. I have checked cg and seems to be happiest where aeroworks recommends with the balance buddy. Also used the inverted 45 cg test and seems to be spot onl I used carbon rods to make sure my elevator surfaces are equal and traveling at the same rate. Turnbuckles are equal distances. I checked all surfaces and seem to be straight to the eye. I tried to laterally balance using the spinner and a finger on one of the tail gear screws. It always wanted to drop the right wing or snap to the right and when I laterally balance the left wing would drop so I added 14 grams to the right wing with no change in snapping to the right.
I don't know if mine is as bad as yours but it also will snap out to the right in extreme g's. I never figured a way to fix it. I still have a good time with the plane. Mine also has a pretty healthy wing rock for an edge.

RE: What size of RC planes do you like?
50cc size planes for me. Will fit in most suv's and fly great. One servo/flight control and very reliable engines.

RE: Need engine advice for a big-un
Completly agree. Go with a gas engine. I've had great luck with the smaller Dle engines and use DA on the bigger planes. The new dle 35 is getting good reviews. Jeff

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
dp2826 The things to check first is to make sure your lateral balance is good. Then make sure both elevator's have the same throws and are moving at the same rate. As far as cg goes I think mine ended up further back than the starting point in the manual in order to get a more hands off inverted flight. Mine will snap out but only during extreme g loading when I think most planes would also. If all this is okay, might have to look at some possible incidence problems. Hope that helps. If not come back on here and someone will know what to do. Jeff

I went with the B&E graphics on my plane and really like them. Flew eight flights on the edge today and it is rockin. Probably have more than 100 flights and knock on wood the plane is holding up great and the DLE is a great engine. I like it the engine so much I bought the 55cc version. Jeff

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
I completely agree about the decals. They are a serious pain. Takes longer to place them correctly than it did to build the plane. I didn't even use some that I was going to because my transfer tape wore out. I have been flying my plane that way for many months and since I like it so much I'm going to get some custom graphics put on it. This plane is a blast you will love the way it fly's. Jeff

I have a question. I took my muffler off my dle 30 and the dang exhaust gasket came off in about four pieces. Went to the auto shop and the only gasket material they had he didn't think would stand the heat very good. Anybody have any idea's on a replacement?

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
My set up is as simple as it gets because I'm a simple minded sucker. Nimh 4.8v 2000mah on the ignition and Nimh 6v 2000mah on the receiver with a rxcel kill switch. I flew eight flights sunday morning and had plenty of battery to spare. I could have gone with a smaller ignition battery. I have a 19*8 xoar sword. The black prop looks cool. Had to change the tail wheel to cf my other developed a crack right behind the last bolt. Ended up with a 5% rudder to elevator mix to help ke. This is a fun plane and the dle is runnin like a top. Couldn't ask for better. Jeff

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
Put fourteen flights on the edge this weekend. I think the side force generators gave the plane some more stability and helped knife edge. About got this plane dialed in just need to add some mixes, it pulls a little to the wheels and wants to roll out just a bit in knife edge. Easy enough to fly it through it, but I think some mixing will help. Great flying plane! JEFF

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
You do not need to do any modification to the engine mounting block. In this thread you will see everyone had to actually extend the dle 30 engine standoffs to get the spinner clearance for the cowl. The dle 30 is a easy installation in this plane. Jeff

Fourty flights and I can tell you this plane is strong. Spent the last two weeks flying in strong texas crosswind and I tested the landing gear out. This plane is holding up to everything great. Waiting for the mail to bring my digital throw meter so I can try to figure out the aileron roll problem. Jeff

RE: Sig 1/4scale C/W Cub build
I bought this plane almost completly done on an estate sale. The man that built it did a fantastic job. It just lacks a little work. I need to decide on an engine and am looking for advice since my personal building skills are somewhat limited. I have been flying gas and would like to keep doing so. What gas would fit best with the least amount of modification? I really don't want to move the firewall. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks again. Jeff

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
Problem. Need help. My plane took very little trim and is flying hands off straight and level great. C.G. is dead on and lateral balance also. Overhead vertical uplines are great too. The right rolls are awsome but my plane doesn't roll axial to the left. Wants to kinda barrel around a little. Where do I look first? Rudder, aileron differential, of something else. I've had many people look at my set up and everyone says everything looks straight, true, and proper. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeff

RE: 30cc Edge 540 build
In my opinion would be to much for the airframe and the dle 30 will take this thing out of sight in about six seconds. Might be an issue with balance also. Jeff
