RE: Are you a member of a club?
I am not (yet) a member of a club though I am a member of the AMA. I have been flying for a little over a year now. The reason I have not joined a club is that I travel for business alot. Not for a week here and there but for a month or more in various locations, South Dakota is my home but I could be in Colorado, Texas, Tampa, Boston at any given time. I wish I could be in one place long enough to join a club and get to fly with people I could get to know better... One day. :) Jim

RE: RTF heli for Phoenix FS too
I use a futabe 8fgs with Pheonix. I had to order the Phoenix adaptor for futabe square training ports here: http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/phoenix-futaba-square-micro-adapter-RTMAFUTSQ If you have the round training port on your radio then this is the one you need: http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/phoenix-futaba-hitec-round-adapter-RTMAFUTRND I can't really find any info online about that model futaba. If it doesn't have either the round or the square training port on the back of it then it may not work at all. If you are looking for a tx that works with pheonix, pretty much you want to read the specs and make sure that it has some sort of trainer port on it, then depending on what sort of port it is you will need an adaptor to fit. From what I understand the Spectrum brand radios work with it with the cable that comes in the box from the Dx5e upwards. Hope that helps. Jim

RE: Newbe
I tried everything I could find to get FMS (which came with my heli) to run on Wnindows 7. I gave up. But in my search I did find a free simulator for helis called helisim. It is setup to emulate a 450 size heli, not elaborate but it works for basic orientation and flight training. Download it here: http://www.marksfiles.net/HeliSim/ I have since bought Phoenix but for basic heli training helisim works great. I'm told it is better than FMS for heli training anyhow. Jim

RE: 6 Ch Simulator Software
You may be able to use the TX that came with the e-sky heli to run with a simulator. There are several free sims you can download like FMS and there is another strictly for helis called heli sim rc that seems to be good too. I'm a noob to helis too so there may be others that more folks would recommend. Look on the back of your tx and see if there is a port or jack marked either trainer or simulator. That port can be hooked to your pc with the appropriate cable and then used to control some of the free sims. I have also heard good things about clearview and it is reasonable ($40 I think). Hope this helps, Jim

RE: Here is the REAL NEWS!
Personally, I believe in active participation in any organization I feel lead to join and belong to. I, however, did not vote this year. Why? Because I only joined this past September after almost 30 years out of the hobby, just now getting back in and I didn't feel qualified to judge the various candidates and make an informed decision as to whom to vote for. I think that just voting for the sake of saying you voted is actually worse that not voting at all. You can bet though that after this year progresses I will participate in the elections next Noivember! :) I believe that the AMA is a worthwhile organization and while it may not be the be all - end all for our hobby it plays a very important role. I haven't joined a club as yet (been traveling too much to be in any one place long enough) so the required insurance wasn't my reason for joining. I believe it is a good thing to have an advocate on our side to represent the hobby to the public at large and to the government agencys that try to regulate anything they can get their hands into. I also very much enjoy the magazine :) Just my 2 cents (and worth all of that) ;) Jim
