RE: .40 size Cassutt
Best of luck That Cassutt was designed by a suburban Chicago modeler, per name in the dwg, after the full scale Cassutt, flown by a Mr. Pete Waters or similar (N#PW). The Red photo on the box top duplicates his piant scheme. I saw it once at Howell Airport, 127th & Cicero back in early 80's. when he was warming it up for a last flight at the closing of the airport. Cant beat the for sale market places for finding the great kits!!!!

RE: Need Parts for Super Tigre GS-40
Please review again as SuperTigre 40-GS-Ring on Tower's web page is part # LXFV69. Seems to be a valid part #......just out of stock.....for quite some time. And that is my question as parts for the my very strong running GS-45-ABC have been out of stock for a long time. It is a great engine!!!! Is there a problem with SuperTigre Engines & parts availabilty? I've held off buying another ST engine due to this uncertainty.

RE: shoestring canopy
As stated above, Sig sells tear drop style bubble canopies as well at warbird , flat front style. Bubble style will look good on the Shoe. Sigs canopies are also listed on Brodak's (brodak.com) site that has L, W, & H dimensions. Very helpfull. Tower.com also lists most Great Planes canopies w/ dimensions & photos, Also very helpfull. I expect the crown of your fuselage top has a lot to do with the canopy size. Good luck. In other posts, I am searching for a Shoestring canopy for a Great Planes 60 sized afr. That canopy is for a highly crowned / curved fuse top & was formed with a flanged base for mounting.... its driving me nuts looking for a plastic canopy to match....I'll probably carve one from solid balsa next weekend.

RE: If you want Great Planes to bring back the Shoestring read here;
Do any of you ( GP 60 ARF) Shoestring fans have a spare canopy for sale? This GP canopy hade a nice mounting flange & should have purchased an extra.... Sig's bubble canopy is not as wide, & a P-51 style just doesnt look right. Plane is ready for spring flying.

RE: Kraft radio,receiver and servos
My 1974 Kraft Sport Series 5 channel used qty 8 "1/2 SUB C' nicads. Factory wired these as 2 x 4 packs with a center tap, all incased in a large black plastic case in base of transmitter. Center tap supplies 4.8 vots to the system, so there should be qty 3 wires from battery to the system. While this radio is no longer used for reasons stated above, I'll never toss it out!!

RE: Chris Craft 17' Cavalier
Glad you like the old woodies. The Chevy 283 cu in / 185hp V8 engine was factory/dealer retrofitted in 1964, replacing a 125hp flathead six. The V8 is 200lbs lighter, a 60hp increase & great on fuel. Its a blast! There is a bit of celebrity factor....yet I find working on & flying the model aiplanes more challenging & more fun. I must be nuts!!! Pictures are on Lauderdale Lakes in So Ea Wisconsin.

RE: Chris Craft 17' Cavalier
Thanks for good words. Don't really have before photos....was a mistake, hull wood was in good shape & ...but everything else needed work such as all new floorboards/seat wood, new windshield, and all sorts of odds & ends that make wood boats quite the hobby. Best of luck with your boat!

Chris Craft 17' Cavalier
Just thought I'd post this photo, representing the past 6 years of my hobby life. Its a 1955 Chris Craft 17' Cavalier Utility. The Cavalier line was a factory mfg of the old kit boat line CC had. It's actually solid plank stock mahagony board framing, & a beautiful mayahgony plywood deck & topsides, with fir ply bottom. Power is a CC 1964 283 cu in Chevy V8. Truth be told, I find building & flying model airplanes more enjoyable & am getting back into my planes.

Wing joing glue
GP Spacewalker. Prefer to join wing wing center section & dihedral braces with Pica Glu-It or Titebond aliphatic type glues & use 6 inch fiberglass & white glue wrap for added strength....as opposed to using epoxy. Have kit built multiple planes with aliphatics w/ great success as i preglue all joints & fit just loose enuff for excellent glue coverage/absorbtion. This is my first arf. Anyone have any negative feedback on this aliphatic glue method?

ST125MG Servo
What type of top/bottom output shaft bearing supports are in the ST125MG? Have read of multiple requests to send these back for service - is problem solved on new units purchased? What will availablity be? Horizon shows out of stock. Planning on buying 5 for a 120 size plane + a 537 throttle, with dual 1200mah battery packs in parallel on a 6102 PCM radio. Am a fan of JR & appreciate oem tech support on this forum. Thanks!

RE: Seagull Superstar 120
Kurt and all, fantatstic job of documenting this new airplane. Was really glad to see this available. One nagging thought I have, preventing a purchase is that the advertised 856 sq in wing are seems small for a 120-150 sized bird, perhaps driving up the wing loading to over 30 oz per sq ft. Seems most 120 sized birds use 1,000 sq in + area for a scoosh lighter wing loading. Am I overly concerned....I tend toward floating landings than rocket into the deck landings? Am anxious to read the flying reports!

RE: balancing wood props?
Have found balancing multiple props in one session to be a time saver. Do the operations in batch, test 'em all, sand or add weight to each, retest 'em all, etc. Can do 6-12 props in just a bit more time than 1 or 2 (and the way I fly I need many props!). This works for wood or composite. Have a 20 yr old 'Hi-Point' balance stand that works great. Dubro makes a similar one now. Balanced props make a difference. Now to wood props. Using LHS 'Ambroid model airplane cement', smear a bit w/ a finger or paint w/ natural bristle hobby brush on outboard tip area, on the forward face. Ambroid drys quick, may take a cupla passes, may have to sand off a bit if over done...but the best part is it smells like model aiplanes should. Now where can I find a box of 10 x 6 Top Flite Super M wood props that need balancing?

Thanks It was a violent crash & not the first one. If the prop driver deformed berfore bending the crankshaft, I'm gratefull SuperTigre designed it to fail. The ST has been a great runner.

ST 45 ABC problem
RE: Super Tigre GS 45 ABC Just crashed a Rascal 40 w/ 45 (great combo) due to pilot error. Would appreciate any answers to: 1. Upon engine disassembly, noticed the allum prop hub has run-out. Looks like oem deffect. Suspect crank was dialed & IS DEAD TRUE! Cant believe it. How does one remove alum hub? Should I try to reseat it...or buy a new hub? The spinner backplate did run w/ some run out. 2. Is there a performance issue w/ removing & reinstalling the ABC piston / sleeve??
