RE: ESM or Airborne P-47 Choice Help
fanoffive0, Here is what is also to consider. The Chinese arf glass fuses have no where near the strenth of say a glass fuse for a kit. The reason is they are trying to a make them light not necesarilly cheap. I've had the skyshark p-40, the Kondor p-47 and they both had problems in the wing saddle area when it got hot. the fuses would get soft and sag just from the ride in the trailer from the shop to the field. then after they cooled it would crack, because of that i retired them both after a very short time, One of my friends has the nitro planes p-40 and your can grab the wing saddle and dang near squeeze it all the way to the cockpit, no exaggeration here. another friend just got the esm corsair, we are going to make a wood rib shaped to the wing saddle and glue it to the inside of the fuse. this ties the saddle to the sides of the fuse. I just did this to a Airworld p-51 and it stiffens the fuse a bunch. The airworld is far better quality but i didnt want to take any chances with the fuse getting soft in the trailer. I'll try to remember to take some pics tomorrow so you can see what I mean. I think the airborne 47 is a two piece wing, not sure of the esm. just something else to consider.

David one of my books shows lots of schemes but i'll have to look when i get out into the shop, I'll post later. If your building a true 1/4 i dont think bright colors will matter!

RE: Zeroli Hellcat
Todd Jackson has one with glass fuse, 42#. the glass fuse needs alot of nose weight. so use a heavy motor and build with everything as far forward a you can.

RE: Don Smith 1/4 Scale P47
there are some builds out there, look at r/c scalebuilder. i looked into it a few years ago and from what i remember it is a rather complicated build and several discrepencies on the plans. Can't go wrong with the Meister, simple build and beyond excellent flyer. Jeff

RE: hidden push rods
Scott, here's a start. http://www.irfmachineworks.com/rds/ you will probably be bombarded with the pro's and cons so use your own judgement. some guys will jump on here and start dictating a.m.a. requirements etc. what are you after? Aileron, elevator or rudder? what plane? feel free to p.m. me and I can tell you what i have done in the past.

Scott, How are you cleaning it without removing the valve? I'm going to back to 32:1 and premium fuel and will be adding carbon guard so this doesn't happen again.

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
pete, i helped a friend with a crrc26, with 2.4. the ignition battery had to be moved to the firewall because it was getting hit. i thought the same thing when we set up the plane, it's 2.4 and won't get hit. not true in our case. the battery's were next to each other originally. jeff

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Jim, the 28/14 is a xoar. it by far outperformed the 26/16 Bambula. i found out after changing to the Xoar that the Bambula's are not as good performers. I would imagine that it would turn a 26/14 three blade.

RE: P47 Tunderbolt elevators; aluminium or fabric covered?????
Only the very early "b" models had fabric covered surfaces. if i remember correctly none or not many of these were used in combat. Depending on the scheme your modeling it more than likely was metal covered "C"or "D" model. Unless your modeling a "B" i would sheet them, that little bit more weight wont be enough to worry about. RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Scott you are going to love your bird! It lands slower than grandma rollin in a hoveround. It rolls out real nice and keeps the tail up damn near until it stops rollin. Talk to Frank and find out if he put any right thrust in his. I can't take off with more than half throttle because I'm out of rudder. We aren't 100% that I have enough servo either. We'll have to run it at full throttle on the ground and see if the servo moves full deflection. We had the same problem on Todds Hellcat but we blamed it on his 1975 Royal servo on his rudder. I swear he teared up last week when we cleaned the servo drawer and I threw away a Royal servo. This is the Todd holding the tach and cussing it again, And everybody else is telling us whats wrong with it.[:)]

RE: MOKI RADIAL Care and Maintenence
Scott, we have a saying with our group. "just because you pay for it doesn't mean that it is yours"[:)] if it's laying around it will get hung on something. The hall affect sensor has come loose from the aluminum mounting plate that you see on top of the engine. so grease was getting bertween the sensor and the aluminum plate. The rubber o-ring had now made it's way in between the sensor and the plate also. this may be what caused the clearance issue and let the sensor rub on the cam. i tried to take picture's but all i got was blurr. Because of my time crunch to be ready for Atlanta i had to go ahead and buy one rather than play the waiting game to hear back from Europe.
