Myadvice would be to turn the power down or just be careful on the throttle! The first Vipers here in the UK flew on the JL T12 which produces about 28 pounds. Jeff

Just my opinion but I think you'll wish you had a little bit more thrust than the K80 when you come to fly it. Jeff

RE: Jet Legend F15 with Kingtech K80F
Hi Ian I personally believe that a 18 pounds thrust would be the minimum that you would fly the F15 with preferably more! Leave the bypass and use a bellmouth instead, no doors and fly tailerons. My preferred turbine size would be 120 to give a bit of excess power and 'full house' controls but still wouldn't bother with the bypass! Jeff

Hi Weiliang, I have some of these on order already and most of the owners will use the T12 for power...including me![:D] We have ran the T12 here in the UK and it has excellent performance and it is obviously well suited to the Viper. Thanks for posting the pictures... Jeff

Thanks Rob, I didn't have to do much really! Like a trainer, as you say, and handled pretty well in the stiffening wind. It needs a bit of tweaking yet but it seemed very solid and predictable. Your UF looked good - how I wish I did Comp-ARF sometimes [:)] Jeff

Perfect - get yourself some wire lock pliers and wire and you're done! Rough up the tube also - around it but not down it's length if you see what I mean! Jeff

They're the same as I used, Gary... 1.25" stroke - is slightly too long but I restricted the stroke with a small piece of tube over the shaft. Jeff

We usually rent a chalet at Molenheide for the weekend. They come in lots of sizes, self-catering (if you can be bothered) and you can bring in your jet to any work you have to do on the large workbench - AKA dining room table! [:D] Jeff

RE: Jet Legend Mig 29 inflight breakup.
Bandwagon...jump on! So you managed to crash a model that has a very successful flight history? If the thrust tube 'squeezed' then why did you fly it? You should have checked it out first from a safety viewpoint. Sounds to me that you didn't align the turbine correctly down the tube. Similarly, did you supply sufficient pressure to the retracts and at least try them before take-off? Despite the faults you chose to fly it anyway as opposed to investigating the problems. The fault lies with you as owner and operator to make sure that it's safe to fly and you didn't. I've seen this F16 flown with a Jetjoe 1400 that wasn't managing over 11 pounds of thrust. It wouldn't loop from straight and level but nevertheless flew reasonably. It's easy to slag something off when you don't want to admit it was your own fault. The MIG 29 in this whole story was flipped on landing in a strong cross wind and required repairs including a new wing. John informed me and JL of the deformation of the fuselage due to storage and noted stress cracks in the failed area also before the crash.

I opened up the vents on mine and am using 3/16" tubing everywhere... I took some material from the engine bearers as the tanks were pressing hard against the fuselage side - it's snug now. Almost completed the assembly - just waiting on the ATJ 180[8|] Jeff
