RE: no spark hand proping
quote: ORIGINAL: Jester241 I'm not sure if its even possible to hand start an engine with flywheel/magneto. I'm sure someone here will say its easily possible, but I've never seen it done. Thats a BIG reason most of us use Electronic Ignitions. The only engine I ever ran that had flywheel/magneto had a spring loaded started mechanism built in. Your probly gonna have to invest a big chunk of money into a massive starter for that big of an engine or simply put an EI on it for $40.00-$80.00. Its honestly really worth it to go with EI because of the conveince<meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" /><title></title><meta content="OpenOffice.org 3.0 (Win32)" name="GENERATOR" /> <meta content="text/html; charset=utf-8" http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" /><title></title><meta content="OpenOffice.org 3.0 (Win32)" name="GENERATOR" /> I have also started g23 and g38,s by hand but you have to remember, Its all about flying and enjoying the sport so try to make it easy on yourself use a hand starter and EI works and your shoulder won't hurt so much we are getting older and we should not have to make things hard on ourselves ever have a engine that wont start and after a while someone says here use my starter and whamoo the engine starts.....its all about flying and enjoying the hobby....

Bearing Seals Question
Bearing Seals Question Need a opinion from motor heads, To get maximum seal on the bearings should I keep the seals on both sides of the bearings I have left all seals both sides on the main bearing and the front bearing and found engine performance is working extremely well. The bearing are suppose to be already grease but I feel that the bearings should get more lubrication . What would be a good way to do thgis while keeping the seals on the bearings ????? Or should I just be happy and enjoy my performance and change the bearings more often. Thanks in advance

JIM Don,t know what a ole birdi is but I did use the deminsions from a four star 120 its seems to be just about right........ was easy to build what I did find out is that I should have stained the wood before glueing......because the stain can't pass where the glue has been....

Show and tell Time
Here’s a latest plane I have built to train my students. It was a very easy plane to build and did go fast. I call it a stand off scale like w w 1 something. It has the dimensions of a four star 120. The wings were telemaster with 8 inches chop off on both wings. The back end is also telemaster with 2 bays chop off. And a rudder to fit my mood. The plane fly’s great the engine mount is steel, seems like the other likes to crack all the time. I gave the engine a little down thrust and mounted it with rubber strips. I am using a 18-8 prop and got 7200 r.p.m.
