im gonna buy myself one for xmas, i've never liked the looks of the slash but i saw this and changed my mind. im assuming all the 2wd accessories will carry over to the 4wd? from what ive read bodies/wheels/tires are all pretty much the same correct me if im wrong. im not sure how to clean a brushless? i blow the brushed out with canned air once and a while. or with a big air chuck at the LHS when i go and yeah its kept me from selling the detta, it aint goin anywhere now i see what i can do with the right gear. i suppose it could be the mesh, i thought i had it good, it freewheeled fine and didnt sound funny at all. i can tell you if i spend 100+ on a motor im going to have help making sure its in right. theres a bunch of ppl that race these on carpet at a local track, hopefully i can get one to work w/ me.

just running it? few days ago while running it i noticed it was HOT andsmelling pretty bad so i shut it off, the next day i ran it and there was smoke pouring out of it, the esc, battery and wires were all very hot.. i have a 2s lipo, sidewinder 1/10 esc and a 16t pinion. i had only ran it on blacktop pretty much. i think i killed the stock motor tonight, it started running about 1/2 speed after 5 mins or so with fresh battery. i have bad luck with this thing. theres no resistance in the drivetrain, i took it 100% apart, cleaned and lubed it before putting the stock motor back in. maybe im making bad pinion choices lol

thanks for the info, i guess i'll run the stock motor for now and try to grab a neu in a couple weeks. hopefully my dang batteries come off backorder at hobbycity by then lol. i have a 16t pinion but its stuck on my fried ammo motor, the little nut stripped out. i still have a 15t and 17t, though.

^^ checked out your videos, looks out of control. what was your final gearing set up and how hot did the motor get in that 10min bashing video? thats pretty much all i do with mine is run it back and forth on the street or dirt. in house ride along! stock motor w/ 12t pinion. probably going to put the 13 back on and see how fast it goes if it ever dries up outside... http://tinypic.com/r/fz5hxc/4

right on, i have been reading through the jaejw reviews, the neu sounds like a beast. kind of pricey but sounds like it'd be worth it. i'll def look around for used. heres some updated pics, got it all cleaned up and whatnot... wanting to do the green body with blue decals eventully... put the stock motor back in and its pretty dang fast! a good esc and 2s lipo makes a big difference. still not as fast as the ammo on top end but launches about the same. whats a good bl motor to replace the ammo with? will the novak mongoose work with the sidewinder esc? looking to get a new motor soon open for suggestions

GAH blast duratrax and their awesomeness. i completely forgot about the stress tech guarantee. ive been buying stuff i could get for free. i.e. WING MOUNTS (on my 3rd) lower suspension arms (3rd as well) and body mount set (on 2nd) lol. gonna place an order monday.

well i think i cooked the motor, i was running it and it seemed especially fast, i pulled it in to check the wheels (one has been falling off) and theres smoke rolling out of the motor. the wires from the ESC were real hot and the battery was hot. even melted the tape i had on the motor/esc connections. if this is the case whats a stronger motor/esc or just motor to step up to? id like to keep the 1/10 sidewinder

ttt got venom 2s lipo and cheapo dynamite 12v charger. ran it twice about 25mins of fast run time was lovin it till the hood of my truck randomly slammed shut on the charger and destroyed it lol. oh well at least my battery is OK, gonna get the dtx onyx 230 when i get back frm work and possibly a couple of those cheap packs from hobby city. my question is are those ~60 dollar packs from max amps worth the money? im looking at the 11.1v 3s for the detta. will they be any better than turnigy packs? i can get 4 of those hobbycity packs and deans plugs for the price of one maxamps.

i have the same debate but its BL e revo vs. savage flux. i really like the savage but the e-revo looks alot more stable. the summit looks cool but theres so much more to break w/ the trans and diffs. i'd seriously take that into consideration OP, this being your 1st hobby grade your goin down a rough road with that much possible breakage. my 1st is/was a vendetta st and it's kicked my azz having to learn/replace stuff. between parts, upgrades, batteries etc..your initial investment will triple in a few months if you bash it hard, i'd also take that into consideration. my "cheap" little 160.00 truck has turned into 500+ since june (and ive only been home w/ it 2 of those months total.)

i got a lipo and charger. on the battery theres the plug that goes into the ESC and a smaller plug w/ 3 wires, do i have to charge it via the 3 wires or do i use the deans plug that goes into the esc??? HOW come the instructions that come with all this RC stuff are so LAME????

what are some good lipo packs that will drop in easy and have good run time? anyone here tried the DTX packs yet? i got rid of the gear grinding issue and i think my only problem is my weaksauce battery. i'd like to run the most power possible with the 1/10 sidewinder. i leave for work soon and when i get back in 20 days im looking to get 2 ~30$ packs and a dtx onyx 220 charger

my battery is junk.. intellect 1400mah nimh. the esc settings are pretty much default. i have the castle link but didnt really change anything besides the drag brake. when you say gear mesh do you mean the pinion/spur? i tried a new spur gear but no help. i tried to swap pinions to the 16t but the little hex nut is stripped as well, i guess i tightened it too tight and cant get it out, gonna have to drill it looks like. i'm gonna put the truck away for a while untill i can afford a whole new one and just swap over all the upgrade parts i have into the new truck. and beef it up all winter so its 100% ready for next spring. not gonna give up on it though, i will have a beast detta eventully. just need a break its driving me nuts.
