RE: Top Flite Giant FW-190?
I actually have a giant scale FW-190 that I'll be selling. I thought it was a Top Flite? Did Top Flite make these then discountinue them? Anyway, I don't have exact specs or pics yet but the airframe is all fiber-glass with a wingspan of~60". The package comes with fuselage, wing, mechanical retracts, cockpit accessories, canopy and cowl. Never Flown or fully assembled for that matter. Anyone interested? -Jesse

RE: RCAERODYNE ROCKS !!
I saw this post and had to chime in. I also have had nothing but excellent service from them. I was waiting for the Chaos 600 to arrive in there stock. When it finally showed up I immediately ordered it. After a week of waiting I called to check the statis only to find that the electronics to complete my Chaos 600 kit were still not in stock. After I explained my disappointment the guy on the phone asked if he could call me back. The call back happened in less than 5 minutes and it was Cliff (the owner). He immediately explained the situation about the electronics and did not hessatate to upgrade the standard kit to a more expenssive kit that included the Scorpion 4100kv motor and the upgaded cyclic servos at no extra charge. After that I was completely satisfied with them, but then they wowwed me again. This conversation took place on a Friday and the heli arrived on my door step Monday. They are in Kent Washington, I'm in Cincinnati Ohio! Did not expect that at all, but when I called Cliff to thank him he just said he wanted to make sure I didn't have to wait any longer. Now that's personal customer service! -Jesse

RE: RC Aerodyne stands behind their products and sales!
I recently had the same experience with the e-mails but when I call them they're right there ready to assist. I realize that you are out of the country but maybe if you could reach them during business hours via phone you might have better luck. These days it really helps to have someone that will stand behind the product they sell and be there for technical assistance. I to love RC Aerodyne and will be buying a Chaos 600E when they get back in stock! -Jesse

RE: 4 blade head
I'll go on record to say that you do not need a 3 axis gyro. Earlier this year I went through the same delema and received a lot of mixed replies. I have successfully installed a 5 blade head on my EXI 450 with a MD500 fuse and it flies great. The big issue is setting up the head correctly. I found a really useful setup tutorial that I will have to look around and get for you that covers the setup very well. My setup was from Copter X and is just the 5 blade head and a set of plastic scale blades (both from CoperX). I'll attach some pics. -Jesse

RE: Need recommendation on good 450
I would recommend a Blade 400/450 or what ever you can get parts for quick. The biggest thing I tell people getting started with Helis is to make sure you can get parts quick to avoid un-necassary down time after a crash. There's nothing worse than waiting days or weeks for repair parts. I've built the EXI 450 and it is very inexpensive and compatible with the trex 450 but again can you get trex 450 parts quick? I'm sure you could get a RTF blade 400 off of e-bay fairly cheap since there is now a blade 450 and most hobby stores carry eflite parts. -Jesse

RE: edf units Turning how fast?
40,000+ rpms depending on the setup. I also have a meteor. The stock setup isn't bad, I would definately upgrade to a 4 cell battery if it doesn't come with one by now. My Meteor setup is a 80mm Habu 32 setup with a 6 cell battery that turns about 43000 rpms and produces about 1700 watts. The plane easily makes 120+mph passes and has unlimited verticle. Enjoy, -Jesse

Check out Don's wicked RC thread on RC groups: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1476099 I would definately buy the plane as an ARF and put one of Don's setups in it. Very economical. -Jesse

PYLON VIP 1 or RIFLE??
Looking to buy one or the other either new or used. I've never had this type of plane, but have experience with 120+ mph planes. Can anyone give me some feedback on these two planes? Also, as I mentioned I'm looking to buy one if you know anyone selling a used VIP or RIFLE let me know. -Jesse

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
The EXI is a trex 450se clone. I used the trex 450 se instruction manual to build my EXI and if you didn't know it you almost can't tell the difference. I wouldn't stear you wrong, I have several flights on this heli without any problems. You would save yourself alot of $$ by going with the EXI. I don't know if you've seen this thread, but here's were I got the idea:http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_9990427/mpage_1/key_/tm.htm The thread is very informative and the parts are all at xheli here in the US. -Jesse

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
I used the EXI 450 chasis for my MD500. The head is a 5 blade copterX with the copterX plastic scale blades. The total cost of the EXI build was around $100 less the battery and RX (already had them). The copterX 5 bladed head was $27 and the 5 plastic blades were only $7. So I've got about $150 in the heli before the fuselage and it flies great. -Jesse

RE: Economical 600 sized heli?
ORIGINAL: rotor09 There are a number of people on various scale forums who have used the Century Swift NX and 16's with the longer boom and belt from their 620SE in the 50 sized scale fuselages. The Swift NX is a great flying, proven design that is relatively inexpensive. If it is for scale, I personally would buy their 50 size scale mechanics and their electric conversion kit.
Thanks, that's a great lead. I'll check it out -Jesse

RE: Economical 600 sized heli?
No, I have my own TX/RX and lipos. I'm leaning towards the HK-600GT or something like it. When I price it out with all of the parts and freight it's $300 to $400. This is a project that I'll put into a scale Airwolf fuselage and do strictly scale flying. It's just that I've never done any electric builds bigger than a 450 size. I've had the bigger nitro birds but never had a bigger electric. I've possed this same question on other forums and have found some pretty economical helis in the 600 size. So far the HK-600 GT is the least expensive and if you read through the foums the little bit of issues that have been put out there are apparently easy fixes if not already fixed by HK. I'm also holding out hope for a bigger Eflite heli. I was at a flying event last year and the Eflite rep said that by September or so there would be a bigger sized heli on the table and he didn't mean a 450. Also I've had great luck with EXI (trex clones) and they also anounced a 600 sized heli to be released soon. -Jesse

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
You know, all the hype behind the multi axis gyro in my oppinion is pretty much just for the 2 blade non flybared setups. I put a 5 blade head from copterx on my cheap EXI450 and it flys and hovers with more stability than it did with the two bladed flybar head. I will tell you guys this the setup of the heli in general was a combonation of reading all the forums. I'm using a 11t gear with a 3500kv motor (all xheli stuff, exceed, EXI, etc) and the blades are also copterx. I've got less than $250 in the whole heli and that includes a Heliartist 500D fuse. -Jesse

RE: Has anyone heard of BananaHobby?????
I've done my fair share of purchasing from Nitroplanes, Banana Hobbys, & Hobby King and my opinion is that for the cheaper price you may have to sacrifice good service and possibly quality product. But then again it's like that no matter what I'm buying. The better service always comes from the people that charge the most. Unfortunately people only start threads on these forums when they get screwed in some way, I doubt you'll ever seen a thread started on a retailer that did something outstanding. -Jesse

RE: 5 Blade rotor and 3 axis gyro?????
Yes, finally that's what I've been trying to get feedback on! Going with a multi-blade head do you have to use a system like the beastx? I get that the head has to be in phase, but is it possible to fly a 450 sized heli without a 3 axis gyro and not have a nerve racking hand full?? -Jesse

RE: building micro foamies
I've used the hobby King DSM receivers and had great success both in a micro foamie and a 250 sized heli. They're available in 4, 6, & 8 channel versions. The 6 channel receiver that I bought was small enough to put into a 30mm EDF foam F-22 that used 3mm depron. Also the servos were available from Hobby king for less than half the cost of the same exzact servo found at BP hobbies. As a matter of fact everything except the motor came from Hobby King. The F-22 that I spoke of was designed by Mathew Wherry and his plans are free on the RC Groups site. You may also find more info over there on this type of build. I know there's a forum specifically for "Micro" EDF Jets but don't know about prop planes. Don't give up hope and end up spending a lot of money though, there are cheaper alternatives to the electronics found in the states.
