ORIGINAL: RCISFUN Hey Lewis, Did you ever consider getting a rental shower unit for the people camping on site? I would guess that people who are camping would be willing to pay a nominal fee to have an on site facility. http://www.ameri-can.com/states/kentucky.htm http://www.showertrailer.com/kentucky-shower-trailers.aspx http://www.portakleen.com/product/6-stall-portable-shower-trailer
Hi Rich, Thanks for your suggestion. I'll check, but the prices are probably close to 1500.00. If they are, it would be too expensive. Lewis

RE: Jets Over Kentucky 2013
ORIGINAL: smchale Lewis, Can you take a moment to clarify the tent arrangements for me, someone who is coming for the first time? You can PM me if you think I'm the only one who may not be clear on this topic. For example are you saying that if we arrive (planning on being there Monday for the week) without a rental that we need to bring our own pop up canopy to have shelter for the week? If we do rent is there a map where we can select the spot we rent? If not, then if there is already established open tent space is there any risk that it may be beter than the location of the rental space that hasn't been spoken for? Thanks for any clarification, etc. it's a long trip and I'd like to ensure I have shelter that's at a decent location in relation to the flight line. [;)] Thanks! (Again just PM me if you have already made this clear to everyone but me) [8|]
Hi Sean, The tent situation at Kentucky is as follows...Pilots who have attended the previous year or years, get that same space back if they pre-register. I did this a few years back without the required pre-registration and the event lost about 1000.00, because those pilots didn't attend that year. In other words the space was saved, and no one showed up for that space, resulting in a loss of money. At present only half of the reserved spots from last year have pre-registered or sent in a tent rental form. These spaces will be available after June 1st if I have received no registration for those places. Those places along the taxiway will be available to you. If they register before June 1st, then we have a third Big Top tent that you can have a place in. That tent is in the grass, and parallel to the runway. You can rent one of those 10X40 slots for 200.00. or you can have shared FREE space in that tent if you pre-register before June 1st. I will have two to three pilots in all free spaces, and that depends on the number of planes each pilot brings to the event. If there is space available after June 1st along the taxiway, those spaces are 250.00 to rent. I will try to get a layout of all tents after I get back from First In Flight. I'm loaded up and almost ready to leave, but will get it done when I get back. Just give me a call if you need any more information (502-592-5267).
ORIGINAL: Joe Westrich Hey Lewis... I want to just double check with you. Mike Molnar and I sent you our checks for the tent rental very early in the off season. I just want to make sure you got us on the books. It should be Joe Westrich on the 2nd row in on the new tent that parallels the runway. Mike has the 3rd row in right next to me. I can't remember what numbers they were. Thanks!
We have you...You're set, but some will be disappointed if they don't get moving by June 1st. Again, we have plenty of room for pop-up tents. Pilots renting tent space don't have to pre-register, but they must send in a tent form and fees. 11 Days Left Before Deadline Pre-Registration form... http://www.visitlebanonky.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/jets-over-ky-13-misc-app-pilot-preregistration.pdf Tent Rental Form... http://www.visitlebanonky.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/jets-over-ky-13-misc-app-tent-reservation.pdf Lewis

Tent Deadline June 1st...Don't Delay June 1st deadline almost here! Secure your space today. Download the tent form and send it in ASAP. Failure to do this will result in the loss of last years place in the "Big Top" tents. We have plenty of space for pop-up tents, just make sure to bring one if this deadline isn't met. After June 1st, tent space will be issued on a first come, first serve basis. Those not renting space, but have free space in the tent just have to pre-register to reserve your place from last year. Pre-Registration form... http://www.visitlebanonky.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/jets-over-ky-13-misc-app-pilot-preregistration.pdf Tent Rental Form... http://www.visitlebanonky.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/jets-over-ky-13-misc-app-tent-reservation.pdf This is the only way I can guarantee any tents or spaces. Pre-Registration-50.00, On Site-60.00(must register by June 1st to keep your reserved tent space from last year) Regular Pre-registration deadline June 25th. RE: Question to Jet Event Contest Directors
At Kentucky this year, we had a designated time for the glider to fly. Since we flew about 14 hours each day, time was not an issue. The Electric Apache and other helicopters were flown in another area of the airport. Thanks, Lewis
ORIGINAL: rhklenke
ORIGINAL: FenderBean I dont think it would be a big deal, one of the best/biggest jet events in the US has all this and seems nobody has a problem with it. KY jets had EDF jets, Turbine power glider, turbo prob planes and even a chopper. I think speeds may be a issue but some of the jet trainers out thee are slower than some turbo props and some EDF jets are faster than turbines. There is always room for error when more than one person is flying, unless everyone flies the same pattern, at the same speed and different altitudes things can always happen I guess. No perfect answer with rc.
Yes, but the turbine-powered glider and chopper generally did not fly at the same time as jets. I don't recall seeing the chopper fly, but with the turbine-powered glider, most guys landed or didn't go up because they wanted to watch Ali fly it. I know if I was flying when either of those two went up at Ky jets, I would have landed and if on the ground I wouldn't go up. There is enough potential for a mid-air with multiple jets flying the same pattern, but throw in something that is going "against the grain" and the potential goes up enough that I would not fly. In addition, if someone was flying a turbine helicopter on the main flight line or a 3D turbo-prop and hovering on the main flight line at a jet event I was at, I'd speak to the CD and request that they get their own time to fly. Hovering and a typical jet flight pattern are incompatible, and letting them go on at the same time is asking for a collision and IMHO irresponsible on the part of the CD. The issue with the electric Tucano is not one of the pattern that it would fly, just one of the "intent" of the event and the fact that someone is going to object based on electric prop plane at a "jet" event... The old A-7 was fantastic, but I'm really looking forward to this one! I hope Scott's new project is coming along as well. And to think...there were only three of us in the air at the time...Just one of those things (LOL)! Lewis
ORIGINAL: Countryboy
ORIGINAL: TimWatson Here is a novel idea. Only fly one plane in the air at a time
Novel idea, I seriously doubt it ! I dare say there would have been a lot of pissed off pilots if Lewis only allowed one in the air at a time with this many aircraft in the startup area waiting to fly.
