RE: 4 cycle engines....
i tried a 4stroke heli about 4 years ago as i fancied a change from all my 2 strokers. i brought a good condition vario sky fox cub which already had the conversion kit in it and the os 91 4 stroke which also was good condition and lots of compression. i was though very disappointed with the power as it only just was able to hover and gradually i could creep foreword and back but that was about it.. i tried a couple of other things like changing the blade length but though it improved a bit it didn't make it very flyable as it still was barely just able to hover. that blade length had to be reduced though to a more or less unacceptable amount as the heli is mostly flown with 68cm blades with a 2 stroke but it wouldn't lift off the ground unless i used 62 cms or less.. if you do a search on this forum though there is a heli flyer that had good experiences with 4 strokes on helis but sadly for me by the time i read his advice i had already put the 2 stroke engine and kit in the heli. i think he mostly advised about 30% nitro fuel and the type of exhaust might be very important as well. hope this helps

i donnt know of supliers in USA as i dont live there but i have the exact same heli except my mechanics are mostly vario.. i see parts very often on german ebay. well i also brought the heli from germany. if you feel like looking and need a translator then give me a shout..theres nothing at the mo using , vario, heim or graupner but you could make ebay email you when there is an add .. http://search-desc.ebay.de/search/search.dll?sofocus=so&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&flt=9&frpp=100&from=R9&from=R9&fstype=1&satitle=airwolf+%28+graupner%2C+Heim+%2C+vario+%29&sacat=23638%26catref%3DC6&fts=2&floc=1&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=tn28+8dr&sabfmts=1&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1&fsoo=1

RE: Best fuel for TT PRO-36H/39H(both trashed)
hi . ive used both tt 36 and 39 on just 5% nittro using cheep fuel for years. i think its mostly symfetic but has got 2% castor in it. my 36 engine is now resting in peace because i didn't change a bearing in time before it blew up and recked the engine but i put loads of uk gallons through it (uk gallons =8 pints and not 6 pints as i believe the USA gallon is). i find tt engines prefer fuel without thermal reducers in them which some of the more expensive fuels put in for heli engine use. not that i think these fuels are bad to the tt engine its just they run more consistently on the other fuel if using the cheaper fuels as i do though i would run the engine a tad rich and slowly tweek just incase you make it to week but after a bit of experience in heli tuning its not a big deal.. do keep in mind though that the higher nitro content you use the more your main needle needs to be screwed out so make sure you're not running to hot or week with your current fuel..

RE: Why is this happening to my LIPO!?!??
ORIGINAL: chevypower1930 Alright yall I have an Axe CP-l with a lipo... all has been going well and haven't done anything bad w/ the battery but just yesterday when i tried to charge the lipo it would just KEEP charging... the light would not turn green to mean full charge? I would plug it into the heli and try to fly and just almost NO power... not even enough to lift off... so anybody know whats happening to my lipo? :(
hi. be careful leaving your lipo on charge if you think it has a problem. i had a lipo which for the 1st aprox 10 flights worked and charged well but one day i put it on charge and the battery just kept charging and charging.. after a few hours longer then it should have taken to charge the lipo exploded and caught fire.. i luckily had taken a few precautions so no damage to my room where it was being charged.. in my case though i think i can blame the charger as i was using a charger for lipos i brought from ebay which was one of those cheaper chargers from china.…

RE: How do you hold your sticks?
funny as for me i use the finger and thumb but the disadvantage i find with it is that its harder for me to feel exactly what im doing with the sticks.… for instance, i might want to do a few foreword or back fast rolls so i put full elevator forewar/back but i somehow cant stop putting a little aileron. or visa versa. yep and i have my springs on the sticks as tight as posable but they are never tight enough for me... some times i wish i learnt to fly with just thumbs

RE: need input about the Walkera Dragonfly 36
ive been using a 2200 mah lipo and its either 20c or 25c continuous.. even as standard i think the power is usless even to learn on,, it hovers but i would forget forward med to fast flight as my just hasnt got enough power.. im getting a bushless motor and speedcontroller which sould do the trick.. im wondering though regarding the standard settup if its the standard speedcontroller that lets it down. i am going to try a 30 mah speedcontroller to see if it improoves the standard setup a little before i change the whole settup to bushless

RE: twist in wing, i think bf109
ORIGINAL: Ram-bro The retract holes shouldnt make any difference. I would verify that you have no washout in either wing. Check to make sure your stab is correctly aligned and mounteede to the fuse. also check to make sure you have the same amt of throw on both sides of the elevator. Have you tried a loop yet? If so does it rolloff to one side or the other?
yer the stabiliser i checked already. its is glued flat both sides and seems strong, even if it was a bit out of sink i doubt it would affect it as bad as this. … i can only guees that if its not the retract holes then the small twist it has is the main reason. funny though as its almost unnoticeable... any one got any ideas how to press the twist out? ive tried putting weights on the wing to untwist it over a few months and its still there...

twist in wing, i think bf109
hi all. i found a bf109 1.6m wingspan ( 40 engine) in an rc auction and i couldn't resist. the wings appeared to be home build from foam and vineer (no washout though) but still good quality with no instantly visible sign of warping/twist so this influenced my decision to bid for it. i put retracts on it for a bit more realism and then took her for a fly. on take off iff it was apparent this plane was a handful and flew much worse then any other bf109 i had. every time i made a turn to i think it is the right the nose would try to tuck under and if i banked it left she would try to right herself.… plus the trims would change at different throttles.… the worst characteristic though is each time i used to put more elevator in she would also try to roll and this made her a huge handful to land.… my question. … on a really thoroughly close inspection there is probably some warp but will just a small amount cause such a huge difference as ive had the odd plane that had worse warps in and still flew reasonably ? or perhaps could the stall be caused by the holes i cut into the wings to put the retracts in them?

hi all./ i won a dragonfly 35 from ebay and the travel on the pitch seems to be very small ? it came with its own radio gear and i have checked the servo and its not that . is there a way to program the the trany they give you ( its not the same as my current computer hei tx ) to give the servo more travel because as it is i can only travel the pitch within a few degrees ??

RE: LH or RH Rotation?
that sounds like its going to be a decent scale machine yer i love the way my vario leans one side then fly my jr ventura which leans the other way.. mind you i sometimes forget that on fast decents or in windy comditions the rotor direction can determin which ailoron input you need to comensate for its leaning and thats been the setting for some wicked unintended areobatics ..lol

RE: LH or RH Rotation?
yes it does sound a bit strange why some helis rotate one way and other manufactories choose the other way. i read about this in a different forum some time ago.. you mostly find that european manufactories ( mostly in germany ) dont have a preference to construckt a heli to rotate either one way or the other.. it depends which way the engine n gears are designed which rotate the blades to the left ( ccw ) or right ( cw ) . mostly its the varios and graupners that rotate this way but you can buy an adaptation to change it the other way if you want to. neither rotation is better then the other but you get used to what you fly i think is the general rule..it feels strange ofcause to fly a rh rotating heli and then change to a lh rotation but its great how quickly you can adapt

RE: LH or RH Rotation?
oh i just had another thoght to what you might be asking. you can find out the direction of rotation by turning the clutchbell on the engine in the direction that the engine would ofcause turn the clutch.. then just watch which way it turns the mainshaft and that should tell you which way your helis blades rotate

RE: LH or RH Rotation?
hi mate, i fly both helis with right and left rotation, not quite sure what info you really want answering regarding left or right rotation but im guessing you are asking is there some blades that will only fly either one direction and not the other,, if that is your question or related to your question then yes if your blades you want to buy are semi symmetrical then this means the flatter side or surface of the blade will only rotate with the leading edge at the front whilest keeping the flat surface facing down. ofcause then this means if you put the same blades on the blade holders to rotate the other way then the flat surface would face up and ofcause you dont want that if your blades are symmetrical (and not semi symmetrical) then ofcause it doesn't matter which rotation you use as both the top and bottom have the same profile.. i like sab blades and use them on most of my helis but just make sure if they are semi sim blades they are for the correct rotation

RE: advise on a new elec heli
you can get the fixed pitch heli from LMH OR some times known as LITE HELICOPTERS .they have glow types to electric and have a few models to choose from.. you can use any 4 ch rx and transmitter/sender with them but i dont think you could use standard size servos so you need slightly smaller servos . they fly ok with fix pitch but i would recomend a colective pitch any day over fixed pitch.

RE: SC36 versus OS37
it been ages since ive looked at this forum,,ive got other hobbies now ( speed boating ) lol over the sc engine i would go for the os 37 as its a fantastic and powerful engine and also reliable.well ive not heard of major problems with it yet from my end of the heli world . the sc as far as i know is ok but just not full of excitement as regards power.. if you wanted an engine thats verly similar in every way to the os 37 ( except looks ) but still aint that expensive then get the irvine 39 (not the 36 mind ) it is a great motor and the power it gives is as good as the 37 in my opinion. it is only perhaps a bit less forgiving with tuning but if you can tune a heli well then the irvine will be well recomended by me too.

RE: 4 stroke Power
you can also get a vario 4stroke . ive got a sky fox with a 91 os 4 stroke.but i took the engine out after a short time.. i have to say i was/am very disapionted with it..it had trouble just to hover without overheating and i had to foreget about fast forward flight. i changed the lenth of the blades too going from long to the shortes i could use on it but it was always underpowered .. another flyer on this forum though said that i might have better results if i had changed the type of exhaust i was supplied with it.. admittidly i didnt use it with 30% nitro,, think i used 10 %.

RE: Vario Bell 230 trying to blow apart...
ORIGINAL: jetnuno The muffler is well fixed and if it was not it the muffler vibration it self would not had enough power to shake the heli that way
hi again, if your muffler is secure then it must be something else ofcause, but if its not secure at the end then dont discount the muffler it realy can shake i very violently. if your mulfer hasnt got something on or near the end of the pipe then what i think was happening in my case was the nylon would get hot and soften up, plus the engine exhaust pulses and resonance from the main blades ect would make the pipe on my heli vibrate very violently and this made the body of the heli vibrate very violently too.it was very scary, it looked like it would blow up... ouch,,lol i could some times fly for a few minutes without any problem ( no vibration) but once it started to shake violently there wasn't any thing i could do to stop it except land. once i found out the muffler could be the cause and repaired it i havent had the problem since..it was aprox a year ago and i have flown it many hours since .. sadly i cannt tell you for sure that the problem you have is the same as mine . if it was in front of me im sure i could diagnose the problem with your heli within a short time.. im afraid i didnt understand your comments about the blades. make sure obviously both blades are balanced ( even if they are carbon blades still double check ) make sure the blades are the same tightness, ( my blades are fairly tight but not over stiff.. i would also check if the paddles are balanced on the heli( dont take them off but ballance them on the rotor head ). also perhaps keep an eye on the engine. you might get some vibrations from the clutch and also make sure your engine isnt running week or to rich as sometimes in exstrem cases this can cause vibration but i doubt it would cause such a violent shaking that you are having on your heli.. what blades are you flying with ????

RE: Vario Bell 230 trying to blow apart...
hi mate. i have vario scale helis and have had a similar problem in the past too. the heli was/is an airwolf from vario. im assuming you have enough knowledge to have set the heli and tracking/ballancing ect properly so ill skip the obvious. in my case at least i can say the problem was the tuned pipe vibrating inside the fuselage..it took me a few flights to find this out. meaning i would try it then the problem would show its self and i would take it home ,work on it then fly it then take it home to try another alteration, then i knowticed the exhaust pipe could wobble at the end if i pushed it even though it was already quite stiff becuase of the nylon manerfold joiner which holds it already .when though i made the exhaust even more secure i haven't had this problem. so to cure this problem i secured the end of the exhaust pipe so that it could not wobble. without the pipe secured it would fly fine until i descended the heli reasonably fast and this would make the heli to vibrate so bad that it really looked like it would blowup or shake itself violently to pieces.it was very scary.

its not rc-tek's fault as it sounds to me.. rc-tek seem to have gone beyond the call of duty in helping you. i would in your case complaint to the shipping companies and ask them to search for your package.. 5 months though is a long time to decide to look for it so you might have to except that the shipping company has sold your goods or destroyed them, but im only speculating that fact. if i were you i would say sorry to rc-tek and ask them to give you as much info about the shipping company as they can.. i hope you find it though

RE: 10% Plane fuel for Venture 30 CP?
hi chaz. im not sure completly what your question is but you mention will lower nittro damage your heli engine. i have used 5% nitro with cheep fuel in my helis for years and i dont get any more engine running problems then my othe heli mates who use the more expencive heli fuels. if you tune your engine on 5% nitro and then use 10% nitro then you will need to run it a little richer ofcause. plus with the 10% you might knowtice a small increase in power so your pitch/throttle settings might need adjusting but to be honest i think a 5% increase of nitro wont really change much if any thing at all. your blades (lenth, type of cross section shape and blade drag ) will also determin how much if at all you need to adjust pitch/throttle settings but it sounds like to me you will be able to work that side of setting up out..
