RE: Sebart's new pattern ship MYTHOS
My Seba WindS 50e fly's great on 6S, it's got endless vertical, I had a Wind 110 that flew great on 6S and I found a [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEVifBsFqs0]video[/link] of the maiden of the MythoS (looked to be Japanese) on 6S and it looks plenty powerful. It's not about the volts, it's about the watts, this just means you'll see more amps required... Jack

RE: Sebart's new pattern ship MYTHOS
I've started a [link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1719280]build thread[/link] over on RCG for anyone interested in seeing more details. This plane has a lot of differences than the Wind 110, curved leading edges, an easily removable glass cowl, T-canalizer and updated color scheme, so far I am impressed with the fit and finish... RE: BVM Bandit cloning in Brazil
Sadly this is the way of the world, some go out and work hard to get ahead and others see that, find a way to copy (or in this case, directly clone) the spoils of that other persons hard work to make a buck for themselves. The excuse the Chinese and oher countries use not to enforce copyright and intellectual property laws are simply excuses for stealing. This guy knows what he did, he's trying to make a buck but he knows it was wrong, he just does what other people who commit crimes do, justifies it somehow by saying he's in Brazil and tariffs are high or BVM is too expensive or I'm just feeding my family, etc. Like I said, karma is a biatch and it's gonna hit him like a sack of concrete one day. The odd thing is this is a fairly poor knock off, if you're gonna' copy the Bob, at leat do it well! Jack

RE: BVM Bandit cloning in Brazil
Why would anyone pay $2K for an un-painted knock-off of an-8-year-old BVM Viper when you can get a sweet, perfect new Bandit Mk II for $3K? Anyone thinking the quality is even close needs to get inside a BVM jet, nothing short of perfection. Let this guy sell his knock-off copies, a little thing called karma will level the playing field at some point. Perhaps the Chinese will knock-off his knock-off and sell it for $199 on Hobby King's web site... :-o Jack

RE: ARF's are Kits?
Some ARFs still require 40 to 50 hours of work to complete and "good craftsmanship" is "good craftsmanship". So no matter if cutting out gear doors or installing wiring, air lines, whatever, when it's done nice and clean it still takes time and skill. Sure, kits require far more time and additional skill but there is absolutely a need for ARF's and you can still take pride in finishing one expertly. A build thread shows you what comes in the box and exactly what's required to finish the model, kit or ARF a build thread is valid for both... Jack

RE: Jet crash at the Nall ?
ORIGINAL: Edgar Perez I think we all need telemetry that will send us an alarm when the signal quality drops, yet still with control. No foolproof against a total band issue, but better than the blind systems out there today. Couple that with frequency hopping and we have the best we can get at this time. Fortunately Weatronics have that for several years now[:D]
This is a catch-22, if the signal dropped enough to warrant a warning, the RX woudn't ba able to transmit back to the TX to "warn" you... RE: Ultra Bandit Wing Failure
ORIGINAL: 747junky I agree totally I have seen a few months ago king Cats elevator delaminate and  crash at a Jet Show in Ocala Florida.  He does make a good product but they have been getting more expensive and more expensive $7800 for an electric Mig come on thats ridiculous.  I remember a few years back when BVM almost went out of business and he was trying to sell it off to everybody TBM, Jet Cat etc... prices kinda stabilized but they are getting crazy again. If it was not for Skymaster he would not be in business anymore and if anybody denies this ask him your self.  Im sure this post along with this thread will be off here very soon. Big brother is watching
Wow, that doesn't sound too crazy! BVM like any other business charges what he needs to charge for his product, you think it's over priced, bring a comparable product to the market for cheaper, I'll be your first customer... Jack

RE: Are todays Ducted fans worth it?
ORIGINAL: FenderBean 6 mins from BVM?
The BVM eBandit can fly 7 1/2 minutes on 7700 mAh packs. The ELctra can easily fly 6 minutes on 6500 mAh packs and can run 200 MPH all day long... Jack

RE: Are todays Ducted fans worth it?
IMO you need to think of the current 120mm EDF's as simply an alternative to turbines, not "less than". A company like BVM makes electric as an option, with no loss in performance or speed, the idea is a jet s a jet (well built if a BVM) and you power it with your choice of powerplant, electric or turbine. A guy at the field was complaining about the cost of our Electra's and eBandits and I said dude, it's the SAME PLANE that you fly, slightly lightened to reduce weight but no less quality than any other BVM jet. We just choose to go electric, no one said it should be cheaper, after all we need to buy our fuel "up front" so initially it may be MORE expensive... Jack

RE: 2.4 poll - Requesting pilot experiences
ORIGINAL: jfetter I think the key to 2.4 GHz is LESS planes are lost than with 72 MHz, which in itself is a step forward. It may be due to the 2.4 GHz technology or the ModelMatch technoogy but as long as each revision of technoogy improves reliability, we're all better off. I would say this though, the numbers in your poll need to be adjusted for the amount of radio's in use
ORIGINAL: bigplumbs Great video and also thanks for all the effort. I am interested in the small ARF BVM Mig 15. I assume this is designed for electric but I would think a Wren 44 gold would fly her well. There does not seem to be anything about this plane on the BVM Website. Does anyone know when this model will be available Dennis
Dennis, 63" span, AUW about 18 lbs (electric) and it's built light, from what I hear they should start coming off the line very soon, they are made here in the states at BVM. I understand they have 2 color schemes currently, I think the second one is in a picture in this thread hanging on a wall in BVM's tent... Jack
ORIGINAL: jtlittle We flew but  I over heard at least a dozen turbine pilots that said they would not risk their $3000 engines because the field was so rough and FOD damage was assured. RE: RE:
ORIGINAL: rambler53 Not in all instances, but some electric guys say ''I don't need to carry a heavy flight box'' or ''I don't need to clean up the plane afterwards'' I only interpret the real reason reading their earlier posts give away the real reason being ''I can't tune an engine'' or ''I don't read instructions on how to run my glow engine.'' Transporting bigger planes can be an issue, but carrying a flight box and a bottle of Windex shouldn't deter anyone from enjoying a hobby that's more affordable than at any other time. As far as buying/selling, this is a great time to pick up glow and give it a try!
It's a little more than that. To start with no cleanup, true but also the planes and finish hold up better, even thin strips of covering don't have the tendancy to peel off as with glow. Add to that no tuning, it doesn't matter if it's hot, cold, humid or dry, the motor runs the same. Likewise no messing around waiting for it to warm up, ready to go always. I've got instant throttle response and instant torque from 1 RPM through 10,000. If that's not enough for you, Wifey doesn't bug me about the smell, I don't have greasy, feul covered hands and radio and I can fly anywhere withouth anyone complaining about noise. I've got a few small planes but everything I own is 90-sized through 2M plus 3 BVM electric jets, I wouldn't fly gas/glow if it was free... Jack

RE: Jet Pricing - Why so complicated
ORIGINAL: bigplumbs
ORIGINAL: SCALECRAFT Just my opinion. The Chinese are just a competitor we can't compete with. They don't take our money, we give it to them by having the option to buy cheaper. Anybody notice that. I believe the internet has made shopping in general more competitive and really fast and simple. Word of mouth travels at the speed of light now and reaches millions of people. I believe the issue is here is ''complicated'' by the one who may not know what he wants exactly or is not focused due to lack of research. Or does not have the money, or is kinda cheap like me. I like options, no need to ''deluxe kit'' me and not give me the option to save by working on the model myself. Or finding hardware online. Anyway. Steve
We do indeed choose to give the Chinese or others our money. It is not that I cant afford any of the Jets including BVM or Skygate, Airworld etc. It is more that I donot feel that there is value at that level. I also want to see a simple published pricing structure where you can see what is included and what is not. Offten you have to buy these having not seen them in real life so you need not to be confused by the websites etc Dennis
Ever look at the window sticker from your new car (and that's regulated!)? Besides, a lot of this may be language-related, poor translations make even well thought out text and descriptions sound like babble... Jack

RE: Skymaster Viper ..... unexplained crash??
ORIGINAL: highhorse With all deference to Ali, who is certainly knowledgable and talented beyond a level that most of us could even dream of: This was, IMO, NOT a stalled airplane. Look at all of that barrel/spiral. BOTH wings were still ''flying'' or the flight path would have not spiraled.
I'm new to jets, been flying prop planes some 7 years but jets only a little more than a year. My instructor, Rob Lynch, who is working to make me a respectable jet pilot very early on had me take my Electra up high and point the nose down. On the way down he said pull back on the elevator, hard so I did. Wow! I wasn't expecting it, I had never seen it but bam, there it was, high speed stall to the heavy/weak side, happened in an instant and resulted in the same death spiral as the video. Even myself, watching this video for the first time, recognized it, it was that last tug of the elevator, probably becasue the pilot feared too low of an altitide to complete the loop, clear as day...
