RE: IRVINE ENGINES NEW OS MADE
Hi, No, I am not certain that it was made by OS. I am certain that I was told that it was and believed it. I bought it from a gentlemen in Canada. I ran into one of his posts on a chat group offering to sell them. The post was old, but I tried it any and he still had a couple. Thanks for the correction, it will keep me from spreading misinformation. It is still a handsome bit of work. JamesF

RE: IRVINE ENGINES NEW OS MADE
Hi, I bought a Mills .08 Diesel that was marketed by Irvine, but was made by OS. I have not run it, but it is a beautiful engine to look at. Jamesf

Hi, You might check out Dubro's web site. I know that they used to offer wire and crimps. The crimps are not much more than small tubing but they work well. JamesF

Hi, I can't say that I have a problem with the rx battery, but the only way that I can charge the TX battery is to open the TX case unplug the battery from the TX, and charge directly into the battery. James Fuller

Hi, I don't know how old your kit is but if it is old enough it is possible that plans is all that came with it. It wasn't until the 70's that some kits began to include any instruction beyond plans. Most of the older kits are pretty easily built with plans only. JamesF

RE: Gyspy Moth?
Here you go: In the 1920's, the de Havilland Aircraft Works developed a line of light aircraft, intended to be affordable and easy to fly for the average man. They were called Moths, in recognition of Geoffrey de Havilland's renown as a lepidopterist. The first model, introduced in 1925 became the D.H. 60 Cirrus Moth. It was a simple yet strong spruce and plywood box section design, powered by a four cylinder 60 horsepower engine. In 1927, a variant was introduced with a new, improved inline inverted four cylinder engine. This became the famous GYPSY MOTH. It proved powerful and reliable, and many light plane records were broken all over the world. Not only did it advance the cause of civil aviation, but it was seen to be an ideal training aircraft as well. The Royal Air Force had been using this type for elementary instruction for several years when the Air Ministry issued specifications calling for an improved version. D.H. 60 fuselages were used, but the wing centre sections were moved forward while the outer sections were moved back. This distinctive swept wing configuration kept the centre of gravity constant with the changes that were necessary. Thus was born the D.H. 82 TIGER MOTH. For 15 years this became the foremost primary trainer throughout the commonwealth and elsewhere. It was the dominant type used in the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan and thousands of military pilots got their first taste of flight in this robust little machine. Altogether, over 9000 of these aircraft were made, 1,784 D.H.82C's being built by De Havilland Canada under license. The Canadian models featured a tail wheel, a stronger undercarriage with wheels set farther forward and a sliding canopy for protection from the elements. Jamesf

RE: KO control box
Hello, I used one in the early 60's witw a Babcock super compound escapement. Using kick up elevator right stick gave right, left stick gave left, and back stick gave up elevator. I never took it apart to see howitzer worked, but it did. It required no batteries and didn't wind up. I still have a NIB unit in my single channel collection. Jamesf

RE: Old 27mhz radio to 2.4 What to do with the trims?
I can't answer the question, but I think that all you are really doing is using the RF section from the 2.4 system. The encoding would be taken from the old transmitter, so you would still be using the trim pots and levers. Can someone out there correct me? JamesF

universal digital servo board?
I really don't know much about electronics but I wonder if a digital servo circuit board could be built that could replace the board in all our old analog servos? I have a bunch of like new good quality coreless servos that would be a lot better yet if they were digitals. There must be thousands of them out there. Perhaps if not universal then one for each of the major brands such as Futaba, JR, Airtronics, etc. Am I dreaming, or is that a possibility? Jamesf
