RE: Looking for first twin sugestions/advice
I also did a conversion of the Skooter II into a twin. Flew very well, fast and tracked true.

RE: Gemini In-flight Photos
The pics shown are the .40 size model. The Gemini is also available in a .25 size version without retracts. The models are currently available in an ARF format, However I am working to make the plans available. For more on the Geminis contact address is jim_aerocrafts@yahoo.com. Attached are pics of the .25 size Gemini GT-25.

RE: Gemini In-flight Photos
Here are some pics of Gemini GT-40 on the ground. This is an excellent handling twin. I feel that if you can fly a single, you can fly the Gemini. Powered by 2 TT Pro .40s, it is a fast airplane, yet it has excellent slow speed handling. It has flaps which are used on regular basis for approach and landing, which allow for smooth landings with no tendency for the model to balloon. No trim changes are needed when the flaps are lowered.

RE: Any cool original designs out there? Lets see some pictures?
This is my Gemini GT40. An excellent flying twin with a wingspan of 66". Powered by two TT Pro .40s, with a top speed in the 120-130 mph range. Flaps enhance the slow speed performance allowing for smooth gentle landings. It has Spring-Air retracts ands looks great in the air.

Ed, Flew the Skooter II for many years and went thru a number of them. They were great flying airplanes and I still have a few of them. The twin Skooter was a good handling airplane. Still have it, but it would take some work to get it back flyable.

Twin Skooter This was my first twin. I combined two FliteLine Skooter II's using the proportions of the P-51 to the F-82. This model flew very well, even with one engine out. Powered by two HP .40 Gold Cup engine with Rhom retracts. Picture was taken at a Modell Flugtag in Daun, Germany in 1988.

RE: Sport Twin Pics
This is the Gemini GT-40. Is the .40 size version of the Gemini. It has a wingspan of 66.5 inches and a weight of 8.5 lbs minus fuel. This plane carries 8 oz. fuel tanks, but can accomodate 10 oz. tanks. It has SpringAir retracts and looks great in the air. Like the GT-25 it is an excellent handling airplane just in a larger format to accomodate the retracts. This twin is fast with a top speed in the 120 mph range but with the flaps, it slows down nicely for smooth landings.

Sport Twin Pics
There is a thread for scale twin pics with some excellent models shown, so here's one for those of us who fly sport twins. So with this in mind, I'll start with some pics of my newest twins. This is my Gemini GT-25. It is a .25 size twin with a 59.5" wingspan, powered by two GMS .25s. It weighs 6.5 lbs. minus fuel (8 oz. fuel tanks installed). It is an excellent flying airplane and is easy to handle, even on one engine. It has flaps which can be extended to 80 degrees with no tendency for the plane to balloon.

RE: sig mustang 450 pylon racer
On my Mustang 450, I went with 2" at each tip. Similar story about model, I bought and built mine in 1982. Had a problem with ane aileron binding and put it on the back shelf. This past autumn, took it out and got to work on it. Stripped it down and glassed it and also upgrade the control linkages. Now it is ready to prime and paint. Colors will be a metallic candy apple red w ith white trim. Power will be HP 40RR Gold Cup engine with HP muffler. Jim

RE: AeroCrafts Custom R/C Gemini GT-25
The easiest location for both ease of installation and access would probably be on the lower outboard side of the right naceele forward of the wing. Left side if your left handed.

RE: AeroCrafts Custom R/C Gemini GT-25
I normally use a Sullivan Headlock Glowplug connector which provides plenty of clearance. I realize most connectors won't fit. This is a result of keeping the engines as close to the aircraft centerline as possible. The original GT-25s had a crossover tunnel for the pupose of running wires for a remote glow setup or on-board glow. I believe Bill's has the cutouts for this tunnel. With this in mind, all future Geminis wil have this crossover tunnel along with an enlargement of the aileron extension tunnels. Jim

RE: Specialized Balsa
I have ordered from Specialized Balsa and have good service from them. I needed aileron stock and could not find the sizes I needed elsewhere since Lone Star was not in business at the time. Balsa USA had what they called aileron stock but I didn't want 1/8" thick trailing edge. Specialized Balsa might be a little higher, but they had what I needed.

RE: Twins with Flaps
This is the Gemini GT-40 available from Aerocrafts (www.aerocrafts.net). It has a 67" wingspan and flies with Thunder Tiger Pro .40s. Extremely good handling even with an engine out. It is also a fast airplane with top speed around 120 mph. It comes standard with flaps and is set up for Spring Air retracts. The best thing about the flaps on this plane is that there are no trim inputs required when flaps are lowered. The Gemini is also available for .25 to .32 size engines. This picture shows the flaps extended.

Twins with Flaps
I learned an important lesson recently and would like to pass it on to those new to twins that have flaps. Do NOT extend flaps on an engine out approach and landing. The aircraft becomes very difficult to handle. I experienced this while flying my Gemini and kept losing the right engine (turned out to be a loose pressure tap) and had to make engine out landings. Since I normally use flaps on approach and landing and not thinking I extended the flaps and the airplane got extremely hard to handle. Was able to get on the ground with no damage. Since this airplane is normally easy to handle, it took awhile to figure out the control problems. It was on the third approach it dawned on me and I raised the flaps and had a smooth landing. Lesson learned.

It is the standard Dynamax fan unit from Jet Model Products. The engine that I had originally planned to use in it is no longer available. I plan to put this in a 1/7 scale U-2C so top end thrust is not a real issue.

RE: Aerocraft's Gemini?
More photos of the Gemini GT-25 are located on the Chesapeake Flyers website- www.rcpilots.8m.com/december_041.htm Also, there is a review of this plane on RCU under the name Twin Time. There have been changes made on the Gemini to reduce the overall weight of the airplane. The Gemini GT-25 is designed for 25-32 size engines and is available with either fixed gear or set up for pneumatic retracts. The GT-25 is available with either 6 or 8 oz. fuel tanks and comes with all hardware and accessories except engines and radio. The Gemini GT-40 is for 40-46 size engine and is available with fixed gear or setup for pneumatic retracts. The GT-40 is available with either 8 or 10 oz. fuel tanks and also comes with all hardware and accessories except engines and radio. Both are excellent flying airplanes and highly maneuverable. They are easy to handle and have no adverse characteristics even with one engine out. The Geminis come standard with flaps. There is no tendency for the plane to balloon when the flaps are lower and make for smooth landings.

Try using a light weight spackling compound. It is available at any Walmart or the like. It is easy to apply, easy to sand and most of all light weight.

RE: XCITER
Note has been taken on the aileron size. On the new Mk.3 versions the aileron size has been reduced by 30%. Also the wings now use 4 attach bolts instead of the 2 rear bolts and forward peg. Yes, it has winglets and anhedral wings. Jim
