Jeff, I don't know what to tell you... Call Hobbico service and they'll help.. They may give you a return permission number. Then you can return the wing halves and it'll be their problem. They will probably send you a new wing.. They're good that way.. Jim Gallagher[8|]

DrM, Sounds like you're on the right track. Practice take-offs and landings on your trainer and "buddy-box" with your instructer on the Escapade until you are confident enough to solo. It's a big step up from a trainer to an aerobic capable low wing plane.. You're headed in the right direction.. Jim Gallagher jimgee1

John, The early Debonair had a two yardstick wing. Nobody builds them that way anymore. Go to spadtothebone.com and look at all the free plans. You'll learn a lot just by browsing that site. Craftman1 has a series of videos available on-line for spad construction. Look at norcalspads.com, too. There's plenty of help on-line. Good luck.. Jim Gallagher

RE: My 1st kit build..... Four Star 60
Scooter, If you mean that you made the wings one bay shorter than the plan calls for you won't have any problems. The plane will fly a little less like a trainer. I hope that's what you want. It is common for folks to shorten the span on full scale planes to make them more airobatic. You'll like it.. Jim Gallagher

RE: Looking for a good trainer
Darnnnel. Are you thinking about a full build kit, an almost-ready-to-fly (arf), or a completely ready-to-fly plane, (rtf)? Your first two choices are excellent for arf's if you already have a radio and engine. The nexStar is a good all-in-one package if you need the engine, radio and plane. The nexstar comes with a very useful flight simulator and some useless bells and whistles. Any one would be a good first plane. You should also see spadtothebone.com for good, easily built planes. The trainers on that site are very good and very durable for guys likely to have "hard landings." If you get a rtf you'd do well to choose your second plane on spadtothebone.com. You can use your radio and engine from the first plane and get back into the air a lot quicker. The S.P.A.D. forums on RCUniverse and RCGroups.com are great resources for beginners. Go to spadworld.net for the best available help on quick and easy builds that are affordable for frequent crashers. (You will crash a lot in the beginning.) Good luck and don't get discouraged when the inevitable happens. Jim Gallagher

RE: Real Flight on Windows 7
Seamus, I'm using Real Flight Nexstar EP software. I was using the origional disc that came with my OS 46 powered Nexstar and I asked Real Flight tech service for help. They told me that the early version of the program could not be run on Windows 7 and that I would need the Nexstar EP disc which thet sent me free of charge. I'm running Windows Home [Version 6.1.7600]

Da Rock, The work-around was too convoluted to remember all that had to be done. Stan was at his computer and was going through all the steps as he told me what to do on my computer. We were on the phone for about 15 minutes total. You can reach RF Support from 8AM-7PM, M - F, at (217)398-8970. From the automated menu select option #1 for software support. Great service! Real Flight on Windows 7
I recently up-graded to windows 7 and couldn't get my Real Flight software to load. I contacted their tech service and one of their techs, Stan, talked me through a very complicated work around to get the program to load. It took 10-15 minutes. Stan was very friendly and helpful. The program works great and I continue to enjoy using it. Thank you Stan and thanks to Real Flight.

RE: NITROMODELS REPLACEMENT PARTS REQUEST_Post Here
Dear sirs; I recently, (7-8-2009), bought an Esky flight simulator from you. The controller no longer works. I tried everything I know to get it to work but failed. I have left the controller plugged into the USB hub at all times, even when not in use. Is that a poor practice? Should I have unplugged the controller when not in use? Is the controller still under warantee? If it is under warantee, how to I get service? Do I return the unit to Nitro? Do I need a return permission number? I'd like to continue training my grandkids on the E-sky simulator. Thank you in advance for your prompt responce. RE: New To Planes
I second all that was said above. Also, get a cheap flight simulator. FMS is a free download. You can get FMS and a operator for about $25 on-line. Practice - practice - practice! Every time you crash on the simulator you get a brand new airplane absolutely free! Find a local club. Go to the AMA web-site or ask at your local hobby-shop about local clubs. Once you find a local club you will be half way there! Most clubs have instructors and some even have club trainer planes to help new fliers. Good luck..

RE: Couple questions
If you are a beginner begin by getting a flight simulator.. FMS is a free download.. You can buy controllers on line that come with the FMS software for less than $20.00.. With a simulator every time you crash, and you will crash often, you'll get a brand new airplane for free! That's a better deal than you'll ever get from Tower, et al. Also join a club, get an instructor, and practice with a buddy-box. Most clubs have great instructors, buddy boxes, and even club trainer aircraft for beginners. Save the "hot-rod" 'till you're a pilot. Good luck! Jim Gallagher

BigDan is right about the OS 40 LA. Your only hope is to use it on a smaller plane. The engine isn't worth the time or effort to improve the power. Jim

Jim, SPADS are supposed to be cheap, but you could invest in a muffler and an exhaust deflector. Your Debonair will idle better and run more reliably with muffler pressure on the fuel tank. Jim

If USAMA can perform as advertised they have found a niche and can satisfy a need. They will survive and prosper. AMA can use the competition. If they can't perform as advertised they will soon disappear. If they are a scam they will soon disappear. Let's hope they are not a scam and can perform.. Everyone wins.

RE: Question - Why do we promote clubs?
I have seen newbies ignored at the field. I have seen members shun some newbies. This only happens when the newby shows "attitude." No-one wants to take a person with a problem under their wing.. Almost always the new guy or gal is welcomed and treated with respect.. When they show respect in return they have a successful learning experience.. When they tick folks off..... that's another story. Do unto others as they do unto you..
