I have an airboss esc and torque motor. There is an option in the ESC for 8 or 18 hertz? 18 for multi pole. What setting is everyone running?

John I am getting ready to have MTI build me a trailer and was curious as to what you thought of the craftsmanship? I am going with e channel recessed in the walls and 6x12 double door and side door. Also, getting the insulation in the roof as well. Let me know what you think of your MTI.

josey I would rather not say, but significant people in the industry. i am not trying to start rumors or fuel this item, but i was talking to someone regarding a failure i had on a PCM (come to find out the switch had failed) and during that conversation he mentioned that the technology is not "perfect" thinking when i made ref to my 9303 it was the 2.4ghz. as a matter of fact he even told me he flew a 7ch spectrum but was not willing to invest in the JR 9303ver. for atleast another 6 months until this issues get resolved. trust me i want one to, i sold my 9303 and rx's thinking that my JR 2.4ghz 9303 would have been here by now and still haven't flown in over 3 months?

RE: 2.4 9303 or 12FG 2.4 Going to 2.4 Soon
I have heard from several people that the 2.4 9303 is having problems and the reason for the delay in the second shipment. I am a JR 9303 user and find it very difficult to believe that it is a capacity issue in Japan. I really wish that Horizon and JR would come right out and say if the technology is having problems or not. I back ordered a 9303 2.4 TX, Rx and JR has not even delivered the first run yet. It is amazing to me that the distributor and Mfg. take us for a bunch of fools. Futaba comes out with their version and JR shows it @ EFC and here we are in the second week of October and they are saying it is going to be the end of the month. Horizon & JR I don't like someone feeding me S_ _t and tell me its peanut butter.

RE: Evolution 58GX - what RPM's should it turn?
Mine had a blow out as well. I have a TOC1 Yak and had 4 passes to figure out I would use my choke to kill it on final. The RPM's had to be everybit of 2,500 or better and the motor would not trim down due to the situation. Put a new one in and Horizon sent me three of them for good measure. It is probably more to due with the material not being beefy enough.

RE: DA50 Vs EVO58
T.bob there is no risk with the Evolution 58GX. I have been flying my 58GX Generation 1 know for over 6 gallons and it flys my TOC1 Yak 54 30% just fine. Matter of fact I have a friend with a DA50 on a WH Edge, been in the shop know 5 times in two years. Yes you are right about DA's service, impeckable. However, if you get a front line person @ Horizon vs. a manager then yes a little squirlley but nothing that can't be fixed by asking for a product manager. Both motors are very good motors, but I really feel the GX is a better fit for most 25, 28 and 30% airplanes.

RE: EVOLUTION 58
bonedaddy41 6800 with a 24x10 is to much for this engine. It will unload in the air and the max hp is based on that type of rpm but 6150-6400 is perfect for this engine. Be very careful you hang a ring at that rpm or spilt a piston and you will have more problems than you want. I think you have the exception vs. the rule with those types of rpms.
ORIGINAL: bonedaddy41 I am running the Evolution 58gx in my 27% BME Oracle Pitts [:D] and am VERY happy with it. The Pitts weighs 19# and has unlimited vert swinging a 24x8 (7000rpm) and 24x10 (6800rpm) on 30:1 break-in mix running rich enough to coat the landing gear and left wing. I'll let you know how things go once I start leaning it a bit. RE: Evolution 58GX - what RPM's should it turn?
I think that the new g2 version is only a cleaned up port job and a little nice ignition system. I have had mine through 3 gallons and runs great. Even richened it a 1/4 top and bottom with a 24x10 Bolly wood and it turns 5950-6100. However, I had a little problem trying to land my Aviation Models Yak 54 on Sunday. The plane would not idle down, three passes and finally flipped the choke switch on final to make her quite flying. Thought I had an air leak. Pulled the engine and low and behold the base gasket was ripped. There is the theory for the airleak. Other than that the plane was pulling her weight with no problems. This motor starts on the 3rd flip everytime. I think it is a great engine and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks for all the good info.

Hello everyone! Finally getting ready to maiden my Yak after 5 months and I am having a rudder situation. I am running a JR 9303 tx w/ PCM RX and a hitech 9555 servo pull-pull w/ kevlar lines using airwild connectors. What is happening is the servo is centered when powered on and no humming. Once I move the rudder stick full deflection and release it or take it back to center quickly the rudder goes to center. However if you feed in rudder and slowly move it back to center the rudder doesn't want to center? I am running 4" nelson hobbies straight arm all the way out and my horns all the way out on the rudder[8|]

RE: Extreme Flight 300 electric
Rush7 I maidened my 300 w/ a 56 all around and my right aileron jammed and in she went. to low and could not pull it out of the roll. Has anyone else had problems w/ these hitech 56's
ORIGINAL: Rush7 All right fellas. I have a failure to add. The plane itself has been flying great. I went up to put the plane into an inverted flatspin and I figure out real quick that I had lost my rudder the plane hooked and stayed in a complete turn, I rolled it back over and it continued to turn a long sweeping turn. I jammed the stick from right to left a couple of times while bleeding off speed to get ready to put it down in the high grass and the rudder some how came back some what staright. Needless to say I got it down with out any other damage. It was a little father out than I usally set my planes down but at any rate it was down. Upon further inspection I have found that my Hitec HS 56 on the rudder failed. Gears are locking up and then free spinning. A guy at the feild said that my rudder looked to be fluddering when I brought it in but to be quiet honest I could not tell you if it was or wasn't. I will be getting a Hitec HS 65 tomorrow to replace it with. Now if you guys would like to help me on this one. Are you guys running your wires for your pull pull crossed or just sraight back and why? Thanks
hitechrisb i thought it was just me. i built this plane and flew it 4 times each time stalling about 2 feet off the ground. i guess she likes to run in hot and roll out, huh? without going back through the entire thread what setup is everyone running i.e. motor, servos ya know. anyone out there ready to sell, I am interested.
ORIGINAL: hitechrisb Well, I maidened my Chippy yesterday. I flew very well but I want to increase the prop size from a 16 x 12 to a 17 x 8 or 10. I had no problem landing once Igot used to it. The first one was rough because I slowed it down to much and it stalled about 2 ft off the deck. It cracked the wheel pant but did not bend the gear wire. I started the CG at 4.75" but ended up with it a 1" farther aft. Inverted flight is damn near hands off and is still very stable at slow speeds. I did find that tail slides don't work well with the recommended rudder throw, I had to increase it by 1" each way. I really like the plane alot and it gets a crowd at the field.
RE: Evolution 58 NOT THE same as MVVS58??
ORIGINAL: DiscoWings
Furthermore, Disco Wings is not using good statistics. He has two engines one being an MVVS and the other being Evolution. There is no way you could take that data and publish a paper as people would laugh at you. You have to replicate the trial using multiple engines. Maybe the person with the Evolution got a bad one? We don't know. Not every engine out there is going to run exactly the same. An example of this is Dick Hansons Evolution 26 on a pipe. It will turn over 9000 RPM with an 18x6. Other people only get 8700 or so. Who's right? Maybe Dick got a really good engine or knows more how to tune it properly. Take the Super Tigre G2300, some run, some don't. You'd also have to have the same person adjust the needle settings as others may like theirs a little richer. Perform a test using 20 MVVS 58's and 20 Evolution 58's with 95% confidence intervals and if you say that one statistically produces more power than the ohter, I will beleive you. Until then, you don't have a case.
Ben, why are assuming I'm publising anything, this entire post a is aquestion! You post a paper when you complete your research, while in fact I'm doing it right now. I'm sorry but the mere fact that you are talking my findings as publishable material, or even elevating to a paper status is what is really laughable... The question I asked is that if anyone was able to get higher than 5600 rpm with the evolution 58! The reason I posted this is because I have witnessed 2 Evolution 58s produce 5600 rpm, had a conversation with a guy who also had an EVolution 58 only getting around 5500-5600 rpm. I compared these 3 engines to an MVVS 58 and found that the MVVS 58 was making power. I clearly stated this when I started the post; You either didn't read it, didn't understand, or jumped to the conclusion prematurely. In fact if you are getting 5600, then WHat the hell, your the 4th person getting the same exact RPM reading. AnydyT says he is getting 6400, so I would like to know his setup, what oil he used e.t.c. Its not a matter of tuning, these people are veterans tuners in the hobby; they all were getting around the same RPM which I find very hard to belive as just a coincidence or tuning issue; like I said earlier, even you are getting the same RPM reading! I'm not going to perform a test of 20 evolution 58s vs MVVS 58s; If 4 out of 5 Evolution 58's underperform SEVEARLY then thats a problem, thats 80% fail rate in a resonable size sample. These engines need to perform to spec that horizion hobby states, if not they are going to go back, thats it. In the mean time, anyone considering getting an evolution 58, I suggest they hold off untill we get some more responses on this issue, and it IS AN ISSUE.
Discowings if you are only getting 5600 rpm out of this motor then it is very apperent that the motor is not broken or the needle settings are so out of wack it's not funny. The other possibility is that you have a motor with a soft crank or other possible issues. I would go back to factory settings and start from new. These motors have plenty of ability to pull 6800-6900 with any 24x10 out there. Best wishes and get the needles right and maybe even try a new plug.

Hey maudib by the way you are all over the forums you must be feeling better. Traded the zdz 50 you sold me for a 58GX installed in a new TOC1 Yak. Kudos, Kudos, kudos to Chris Hinson for this one. I am currently building my and this baby looks great!!! Matter of fact if this plane flys as good as it looks this will be a home run. Hope you are feeling better Chris. I got mine on Friday and could not wait to get building. Started it and had to take my wife out for dinner on Friday, it was her birthday, but it kinda put a delay on finishing the plane. Winds have been blowing around 25-30 for days so I guess it doesn't matter. Anyway I was considering the Hyperion Yak 54 and waited on it. Also considered the Hyperion Yak 55, smaller version to the new 54, and just happened to goto EF's website and saw this new beauty. Anyone considering this plane, don't! Just buy it. Once again great job Chris and many thanks for the perfect ARF.. p.s. The packaging is simply amazing and everything fits perfect in the box and nothing was disturbed. Jim
