RE: ys175
Another question. I got a Hyde mount for my Valiant and a Central Hobbies nose ring. The nose ring has about 1/32 inch slop all around the engine. I have contacted Central Hobbies, YS and Mr Hyde to info on how to fix this. Central Hobbies was kind enough to build me a nose ring with the o ring replaced by small fuel tubing. YS says they wrap the engine with a special YS teflon tape. Has anyone else encountered this situation and how did they fix it. Thanks John Kruger

RE: ys175
Thanks. I don't have much space between the firewall and the engine to run the cable. Was concerned that I might be creating a problem with the way I want to route the cable. John Kruger

RE: ys175
If the braided cable touches the motor mount or the header is there an electrical problem? Better way to ask is does the exterior of the braided cable carry any current? Thanks John Kruger

RE: Comp ARF Valiant
Building a Valiant. First time experience with a nose ring. Using a YS 175 engine, Hyde soft mount and Central Hobbies nose ring. Do I use the carbon fiber nose ring that came with the plane also or is that just for electrics? thanks

RE: YS 175 CDI Nose Ring
Talked to Central Hobbies and they recognized the problem. Has something to do with the YS soft mount and its requirement for a nose ring. The fix is to replace the rubber gasket with small fuel tubing. Central Hobbies is sending me a modified nose ring at no cost. That is service.

YS 175 CDI Nose Ring
Is the Central Hobbies nose ring for a YS 175CDI supposed to be a snug fit on the engine? The one I just got from Central Hobbies has about a 1/32 inch gap all around the engine.

RE: Removeable Stab for Valiant
Thanks. Guess I have dtwo concerns. Putting the hard point in for the screws and vibration on the stab. Seems I can solve both problems with permanent mounting. Understand the advantages of removable but just don't see when I'd be removing it.

Removeable Stab for Valiant
Is there any advantage to building a Valiant with a removeable horizontal stab other than ease of transport? I am thinking that I can use the stab tube with some epoxy and some epoxy at the fuse joint. Thanks John Kruger

Fuel for a YS 170DZ

RE: Composite vs Balsa Airframes
Mike Thanks for the insight. Building is also part of the hobby so I'm not against it. However once done I sure do like to keep them around for awhile. I am concerned about the durability of the composites and how to make needed repairs. The stiffness issue was also one of the things I was wondering about. Right now I'm flying among other things a Focus Sport that is balsa and foam cores. It does seem to be holding up well but as an ARF the repairs can get tricky. Hence a kit that I can control the build on. Your Black Magic looks like a good plane and I haven't heard any negatives. I have followed the build thread on RC Universe. A question that may lead to many more on the Black Magic - is the turtle deck balsa covered foam? Thanks John Kruger

Composite vs Balsa Airframes
As a sport pattern flyer I'm interested in the advantages/disadvantages of composite airframes. I know that can be something like a Chevy vs Ford. Durability would seem to be one of the selection criteria. Would appreciate some thoughts on this. John Kruger

RE: Focus Sport 110 YS Powered
Troy I am building the Focus Sport and am at the install hinges part. I believe the wings, ailerons, horizontal stabilizer and elevators are foam cores with balsa leading and trailing edges. You stated that you used CA to bond the hinges. Is there enough wood at the leading and trailing edges to avoid the CA from leaking on the foam cores as the CA will eat the foam. Would it be better to use foam safe CA? Thanks John Kruger

Carbon Build up
I have ran into a problem that I have not seen. In a Rossi long stroke 65 I started getting carbon buildup on the cylinder wall at the top of the stroke such that I could not turn the engine over by hand. I am using 5% Powermaster fuel and have not tweaked the engine to max RPM ie I run the engine slightly rich. I cooked the engine in antifreeze and the carbon build up was cleaned off. The engine now runs fine. One of our local engine guys says that the problem was probably caused by running too rich. I had not heard that before. Any similiar experiences?? John Kruger

New YS 110 FZS
Just got the new 110 and have run two tanks of fuel through it. The regulator is not flush with the top of the housing and I seem to be building up a lot of pressure in the tank. The high speed needle is set to 1 1/4 turns and have not messed with the low speed yet. Got 9000 rpm with a 16 -6 APC prop. A 14 oz tank is lasting about 7 minutes. Does this sound correct?
