RE: O.S. .12 CV
Stock they are not really powerful, but with some work they rip. Rock solid reliable engine, easy to tune, holds a tune forever.

RE: afterrun oil sub?
Just get into a habit of running the fuel tank/engine dry at the end of each day of bashing or racing or whatever. Put the glowstarter on and crank the engine til it will no longer fire. If you keep your vehicle in a fairly consistant climate (i.e. inside your house at night) rust shouldnt be a problem, but you should use a squirt of after run if you don't plan to use the vehicle within say 2 weeks.

You do realise theres literally thousands of different .12's on the market, so nobody can tell you what will work until whe know what yours is. Usually a pullstart without the oneway bearing is pretty cheap.
ORIGINAL: Gary_C I guess these motors aren't overhead cam arrangement. I dont see how you can lube the overhead valve train and not fill the valve cover with oil if it goes upside down. I must be missing something or there's some new technology out there. From the picture it sure looks like a valve cover, and it looks like its vented. Help me out here?
The crankcase has a special blade or 'slinger'. This turns the oil into a mist which is constatly pumped around the engine. They only hold 100cc (3.5 oz) of oil.
ORIGINAL: badz For these car's something like the honda's aren't too practical, they are large and heavy. Probably the only way to really thumper one would be tossing a Saito 1.50+ in it.
I don't know where you found your info, but the new hondas are barely much heavier than a zenoah... Not much bigger than a zenoah either. With a few mods (higher compression, better carb, exhaust etc) these are as fast or slightly faster than a stock G260RC and rev over 11,000 RPM. While I love the tinny sound and savage powerband of a blue smoke, I choose to ride a thumper [:D].

RE: ducted tail fans....info..please
Hi, I have a ducted fan (GWS EDF-40) setup on my E-sky Honey Bee FP Heli. It's not as efficient as a gear reduction swinging a larger prop, weight isn't too bad as you can take about 8mm off the back of the DF unit's rear side, and make a fairly light fin. It seems to be an improvement on the stock E-sky tail rotor setup performance wise and spools up much quicker, allowing the heli to change yaw quicker and make gyro corrections more accurate. The main reason I changed was that I got sick of breaking tail rotors and liked the cool factor of a DF tail. Also blew the stock E-sky tail motor. My heli now runs a GWS pico rx, GWS pha-01 gyro, Sagami 280bb motor with GWS heatsink, Venom nightranger chassis and swashplate control rods, GWS battery bracket, GWS EDF-40 ducted fan tail, GWS dragonfly head, horizontal whip antenna, 200mm flybar w/larger weights, 7.4v 1800mah Li-Po's. The Sagami 280bb/Greatplanes Elictrifly 280bb is a brilliant brushed motor for the money, plenty of power and RPM's, runs cool without a heatsink (more efficient therefore more runtime). If you don't already have Li-Po's, I'd say thats a definate step forwards.

RE: My First Engine Mods...
UPDATE: My dear little O.S. .12 and I had a great time, but alas it had to come to an end...lol A 5 hour continuous bash in mud, dirt and sand dunes and negelcting to change the air filter meant it sucked in a load of dirt and lost all it's compression [:'(]. The piston and sleeve fit was so loose that the piston would actually slide all the way through the sleeve. So I ordered a new duratrax ABC piston/sleeve and rod, and also a new backplate. Before cleaning and reassembling the engine I decided to modify it more. Some of the mods are the same as the worn out piston/sleeve/rod. -Cut port channels in the new sleeve with angled cuts to help the scavenging. -Removed the skirt on the piston and left just enough to make sure the exhaust port was always sealed off from the crankcase. The original modified piston just had bits removed to de restrict the transfer ports. -Knife edged the new rod. -Enlarged the port channels on the crankcase, and ground a channel out for the boost port, which never had one originally, now the boost port is fed like a normal transfer port. -The inside of the crankcase has been contoured and smoothed out and has channels angled to help direct the fuel/air into the transfer channels. -The top edge of the backplate has been sculpted to direct fuel/air up to the 270 degree transfer channel, the old one had lots of sharp edges and corners which I didnt like. -I also polished the intake to mirror finish and matched the venturi to the carb a bit better than before. -All components (apart from piston/inside of sleeve) were polished to mirror finish and the engine put back together. I began break in of this engine and it was immediately apparent that it had more authority than before, had more torque, and towards the end of break in it had noticeably more power than ever. Unfortunately, the pull start one way bearing died and I have been unable to start it. But stay tuned for updates.
ORIGINAL: jack2piper you could realy notice the speed increse but its got to go. you should try a strait pipe going out of it
Do you think they make pipes look like that because they feel like it? No, the pipe has to be a particular length, thickness, and have certain divergence cone and convergence cone angles and lengths etc to make the pipe work with the engine to produce more hp.

Either of those setups will eat zenoahs left. right and centre. For the record, there is NO such thing as a zenoah 29cc engine. They only make 23 and 26cc motors.

Once the piston and rod are on it and spinning it will balance it Truth be told you will never get a single cylinder engine balanced, you may get near, but never balanced.
