RE: Cap 232 Profile ARF "Subaru Style"
Well I put the wheels back on, I fixed the broken part of the fuse, then I epoxied a 1/16 ply skin to both side all the way back to the CG. If that doesn't strenghten it up nothing will!!! I flew it today and its still a blast, the ply reinforcing made a huge difference coping with all the vibration coming off that huge engine. Jeremy

Its a very light plane, so you should be allright, you loose some vertical performane though. Change the gear though the stock ones aren't even worth the aggravation of assembly. Jeremy

Sounds like a good idea, I'll have to look into it. I also need to change my prop, I have a 13x6 on it now, I think I'll change to a 14X4maybe even a 15X4. it'll slow down my speed and let me idle up a little Jeremy

Thanks for the info, what is the fuse made from 2mm or 4mm? Also how about the vertical stab is it also just 4mm? How fast will it go before it starts to flutter? Has anyone tried balsa evelons and 1/16 ply vertical stabs? Jeremy

Thats's why I changed to a Sport Jett, it was too hard for me!! The Sport Jett is awesome, if you get the chance to try one I highly recommed it! They are just a little pricey though, I got mine on Ebay for $75.00 what a deal! Jeremy

whats a rapier?? Is it a Diamond Dust style plane? Mine is definately a Diamond Dust This pic has my old engine on it, a Quicke Jett 40 with the black air bleed style carb. This carb is for racing only and it has no throttle, way too sick for me, top speed @ 180mph, with no throttle!!!!!! Landings are, shall we say, difficult! This is what probbally led to my broken engine mount. Jeremy

Hi, I was wondering if anyone had plans for a coro dust they could share? I just smoked my Dust, tore the engine mount off on a rough landing, I was thinking about making a spad version and I came across this post. My Dust has a Sport Jett 40 on it, and it really screams, but its just a little fragile for my liking. Jeremy

RE: Cap 232 Profile ARF "Subaru Style"
Flight update! This plane is HUGE fun! On the down side though, the new gear is way stronger... maybe too strong? I had a dead stick landing and the gear just clipped the top of the hay that rings the runway, and they tore off, leaving quite the gaping hole in the bottom on the fuse! I realize it's my fault, trying to keep a very low idle because of the oversized engine, and once in a while I stall it!!! Maybe a tougher wire set would have been better for me, or maybe the planes light weight reflects it overall strength. It's possible I'm just an idot too[:o] It just didn't seem like a hard enough hit to do the damage it did, I don't know, regardless my planes broken[:@] Jeremy

RE: Cap 232 Profile ARF "Subaru Style"
Well the weather finally cooperated enough to fly the Subaru with it's new wheels, a huge improvement over the stock ones! I have to say i love this engine combo, what a thrill!! It has so much power on tap you always get instant response, it s really fun. I didn't have any rough landings so i don't know exactly how strong these new wheels are but they seem really tough, perfect for botched harrier landings LOL!! The dubro tail wheel helped ground handling tremendously too!

RE: Cap 232 Profile ARF "Subaru Style"
I finally flew my Subaru, it flies great, but way overpowered with the Saito 100. I kind of figured it would be so no surprises there. I'm looking for a Saito 82 now, so I can put my 100 in a H9 Corsair, but I can get a better deal on a new 100 than a new 82, go figure. Hey kolarshooter how's your covering holding up, as you know I recovered the fuse, but I still think the covering on the wing sucks, it feels very flimsy, I was just wondering if you noticed any problems with peeling punctures etc... Hi, I just bought a H9 Corsair. I'm going to put a Saito 100 in it. Now I've been slowly reading this post, as its a couple of years old its taking awile. My question is, have they fixed the firewall issue, or does it still need beefing up? Also it doesn't look they have done anything with the gear , am I right on this? Anything else that I should now about before I continue? How about three blade props any recommendations? Thanks, Jeremy

Well I finished, I recovered the fuselage, I just couldn't take it!! I ended up putting a Saito 100 in it( I got it for a great price, less than an 82) I hope this wasn't a stupid thing to do, I guess we'll find out. I broke the engine in today and I'm ready to fly next weekend , wish me luck!! Jeremy

Where did you place you CG? I'm going put a Saito 82 on it, maybe a little too much but what the hell. Any suggestions, this is going to be my first profile, but not my first 3D. Jeremy

Wow, I'm glad you posted that, I would have FREAKED!!! when my engine wouldn't run like a normal engine /carb setup! Ok then how the heck do I start it?????? This is going to require a very steep learning curve for me! I can get a normal carb for it right? Will it make a performance difference? I would gues that Jett also services there engines, would it be a good idea to send it in? Jeremy

Thanks for the info, I'll check it out. For the record I did not build this one, I got it off Ebay. It came with a Jett engine, I'm not sure wich one , but it looks like a quickie jett 40, besides looking at pics from Jetts website, how can I tell which one it is? Any tips on hand launching? I'm flying a Tufflight Predator and launch that with no problems, but this one doesn't have the same type of vertical fin. Jeremy

I posted earlier that I recently aquired a DD. I didn't get any paper work with it, I was wondering if someone could give me the proper control throws and CG placement, also any tips that might help get me started with this particular plane? I have flown fast planes before, not quite this fast though, I have also hand launched many different styles too, but again not quite like this one, any help would be greatly appreciated. Jeremy

RE: Saito 30 fourstroke
I thought that was about what you guys would say about my Satio, that Fascination 15 looks like a possible candidate. I've been looking for something fun to put it in, I'm tired of all the slow doggy planes out there that would best fit this engine. Its just a great running engine I would hate to get rid of it. As far as the DD goes, I may have some questions down the road, I haven't flown anything quite like it before, I've never run a Jett engine before either. I hear they're both top notch, but I don't have any experience with either one, also most of the guys at my field are older gentlemen, they've never seen this kind of stuff before, and they can't SEE my fast planes now, never mind a DD. Saito 30 fourstroke
Hi all, I have a beautiful Satio 30 and would like to use it on something fast ( I know kind of an oxymoron), I was thinking a Lanier shrike 10, do you think it would work, or am I just wasting my time?If yes what prop would you recomend? I bought it for a Waco 30, but the kit was a junk, so now I'm stuck with a nice engine and nothing to put it on. I really enjoy small fast planes, but everything I can find for it, is very slow and will fly scale speeds:-( Right now I have a ME 109 (25 size) with a TT36 heli engine on it, pretty fast, I just bought a Diamond dust with a Jett 40, I hoping this cooks, but haven't flown it yet. Thanks for the info, the reason I asked is my gyro has flat blades, but they are mounted in the rotor head with a 10 deg. incidence. So I could make them spin what ever way I want them to. Jeremy

Twin head Autogyro help
I recently acquired a twin head autogyro, I'll give some specs before I ask my question. It's a 5lb model with two rotor heads mounted on a "wing" there are no ailerons on this wing and it has a 5 in. cord, I don't think it would provide any lift. Each 30" rotor has 4-2 "wide blades, which are flat on both sides. They are set in a fixed head set with 10 deg. pitch(?) they are not adjustable or removable. They are set on the wing with an angle of attack into the wind but I'm not sure it looks like 10 deg. also. I have flown this Autogyro, and it does fly pretty well, to me anyway, its the only one I have ever seen, and nobody around here flys them. It flys allot like a plane, I can do loops and it lands pretty predictably. Now for the questions, I got it from a club member who wrecked it and lost interest. I'm not crazy about the rotor head because if I break a blade its a real chore to replace. Everything I've read on this site and others have allot of terms I'm not familiar with ex. flap, teeter, etc... and why are the blades hinged? Do I need this? I was pretty excited after flying today, I figured I would read up on some Autogyro info tonight, and now I'm more confused than ever :-( can anybody dumb this down for me, and maybe give me a diagram for a new rotor head, I could build easily? Thanks, Jeremy
