RE: Losi Mini Crawler Servo Option
Yes, plenty have upgraded to a standard size servo, the HiTec HS-645MG is popular, but others can be used. The plate is held on with 3 screws, they are long and require a small metric hex, just unscrew them and the plate will come off. You can buy a upgrade top plate to mount a standard size servo or make one yourself.

RE: DID I TAKE A PACKING OR WHAT?
The Cliff Climber is an option but have you looked at the Losi Mini Crawler? You can get one ready to run for right around $200, just charge and crawl. They are great starter trucks that can easily be run indoors as well and there are tons of upgrades available. Replacement parts and upgrades can be found at most hobby stores, my LHS has quite a few parts available and many more can be found online. Look at the specs and what you get with the RTR package, they are a good deal and if you choose to go to the next level of crawling they can easily be upgraded. The included Spektrum compatible 2.4 Ghz transmitter and receiver are definitely worth it also.
Cut 2" PVC into 3/4" (19mm) sections and slide them over the inner flange of the stock MRC wheels, you can add wieght to the channel, but don't forget to drill a few breather holes in the PVC. It works well for easy/cheap beadlocks.

Beat AX-10? Sure, but it didn't escape unhurt from its 6' fall off a boulder. (only 1 broken rod end, plastic 3 link mount, cracked roof panel & 1 bent link) Not to bad!!! RE: BODY FOR AX10
ORIGINAL: tarheel6169 I have been looking for a toyota truck body for my crawler and the only thing I can come up with would be an old tamiya bruiser body or hilux. Do you guys have any other options. Thanks
For bashing any of those would do, but they are pricey and usually used for scale/trail rigs and they are too heavy for a comp rig. I am not sure if there are any new Toyota lexan bodies, but you might find an older lexan body if you look. You might have to settle for some other truck body for now.

RE: OFFICIAL WHEELY KING CRAWLER THREAD
ORIGINAL: Zim-uh-tosa JMZ~ After re-reading your comment I am not sure I get exactly what you mean. You think I should move the link down from the center mount, not the axle mount, right? I think I am getting a little bit of axle movement that would change the wheel base. Almost looks like the works of how a skateboard turns. If that is the case, how much movement is too much and where should I try to mount the links exactly? Any help will save me heartache later...LOL Thanks, Z
Yes on the center of the chassis, mount the lower links further down, this will help eliminate axle steer, if you have your stock chassis look at the way the mounts are. Also your truck will work better if your upper and lower links are paralell to each other. Triangulating the links more will also help combat the dreaded axle steer problem, not so much of a problem for scalers, but for comp rigs it is.

I bought the Traxxas Half shafts (you can see them hanging down) that I have to cut to length when I am ready for that stage....I am wanting to trade my WK shocks for some shorter ones if anyone is interested? These WK are like what. 120mm??? Way gnarly long for this project. Is there a way to cut them down??? Maybe I will chop the shaft, cut new threads, cut the springs and call it good? LOL Anyone successfully cut theirs? Z PS...Don't really like the width of the wheels on a scaler. No way in H.E.Double hockey sticks I am cutting them like JMZ did! I do have the Axial MIPs that would work for that though..LOL[X(]
Looking good... That is the beauty of this truck, I just patch what I scratch. Have you looked into either T-Maxx Or E-Maxx shocks, they are a bit shorter? You could always put some fuel tube on the shaft under the piston to "shorten" the shock, although you lose some travel that way. I hacked into my axles to prove a point and it worked nicely for this truck. I have like 5 other sets of various axles so the gamble was worth it to me. I don't recommend it unless you are willing to can the axles if something goes seriously wrong.

RE: which ESC to get?
I run both the Novak Goat system and a Castle Mamba Max. Question is do you want brushless or brushed, the Mamba Max will work on both, where the Goat is brushless only. Both are good setups, but if you think you might want to run brushed at any time the Castle Mamba Max will give you the flexibilty. You might consider the Castle Sidewinder also, it is the sport version of the Mamba and still allows you to program it the way you want. I also run Castle SideWinders on other crawlers and they work flawlessly.

RE: losi vs scorpian
You are comparing two different trucks. Both trucks properly set up will climb to their ability on the terrain they can handle. In stock form they both have severe limitations, but even when equally set up they cannot tackle the same degree of difficulty. One has a +/- 8.5" WB and the other has a +/- 12.5" WB, lets not forget that, a vertical ledge that an AX-10 just barely makes it up, a MRC could not. The same goes for trying to compare a 2.2 class rig to a super class rig. Forget the costs if you are going to comp crawl, it is going to cost $$ to set either one up. If you want a couch crawler buy what fits your budget. AX-10 or MRC, they are both great rigs
