RE: Sportwerks Recoil 1/14
we have been using the Hitec [link=http://www.hobbyshopworld.com/shopping/shopexd.asp?id=149]HS-81MG[/link] with great results... Its metal gear so the guys have remove the servo saver, and it revomes allot of play in steering... We use good 3M double sided tape to hold servo onto chassis... Works great!

I think its way to much motor for the track... but thats what they are using... What I saw, using a 2 cell seemed to keep temps under control.. but like you said, time will tell..

Some racers at our local track have had great results with e-flight 400 and 3cell 1320Mah cell lipos and stock gearing.. Another guy is trying out dynamite C4 9200kv Motor on a 2 cell 1320 pack stock gearing, and this thing is flying around the track! Joe

RE: Dragonfly #36 slow left right cyclic?
For some reason I never got a reply email about this post... anyway, thanks for getting back to me.. I got tired of playing with it and just added my futaba 9C and receiver to the little heli.. by adding EXPO to my left right cyclic its better now.. I also ordered some super light weight flybar paddles without the weights to see if it helps more... Who knows, maybe the head does have a problem (like you stated)...

Dragonfly #36 slow left right cyclic?
I am somewhat puzzled here... Im toying around with a Dragonfly #36 and the left/right cyclic is not there.. meaning it hardly turns/banks... I know what you all might say... add more throw... make sure swash plate is moving... faster servos.. no binding... I have checked all that... forward/back cyclic feels awesome, it will for sure tumble... but left/right aileron something's up... I am using HS-56HB servos....... Swash plate has plenty of movement, I would say movements are almost maxed on the swash plate. Maybe something was installed wrong at factory? or by design heli is like this?

RE: Walkera products, are they really that bad, or is it the users?
My .02$ on DF #36: First off, I have been flying for many years on and off.. I have owned many helis, nitro and electric in the years... I started out on a green shuttle! (when they came out new) AMA# 128965 YIKES! Getting old... I am no expert, but can do basic loops and rolls and some inverted hovering... I currently own a Trex SE and Dragon Fly #36.. I might not be able to perform monster 3D stuff, but experience in the years at least has taught me how to properly setup a helis mechanical systems.. The DF #36 out of the box will NOT FLY... but once setup, flies real well! Items needing attention: -Servo arms are not centered(or angles set @ 90 deg).. -My 36 came with REVO ON, cannot have revo mix on a HH gyro... -Centering tail slider while maintaining tail trim was somewhat hard, but possible. -Motor power is fine for hovering and basic flight, use a pitch gauge to make sure you don't have too much pitch! -Balance heli .. blades , flybar, tail blades .... Not to mention if you have never flown a heli, (Even if heli flew out of the box) don't expect to charge batts and fly! Your going to crash... Larger nitro helis will FLY (Hover) EASIER, compared to micros... due to size/stability and not affected by wind -vs- micros. With as 1350 3 cell, all else stock: Heli flies around (Forward Flight) real good.. Servo horns are way to short to be able to get more cyclic throws, so heli will feel docile (great for NOOBS)... Motor doesn't feel like its going to catch on fire after a 10 minute flight (check your pitch range!!!) Gyro holds tail ok (once you set it up right!) Some feedback on gyro: (what I found on my #36).. First of, my Tx had revo ON... causing drift and on/off collective tail not holding issues... to setup tail/gyro try the following: -turn off revo mix on Tx -turn off gyro HH (swicth on gyro).... -make your slider arm link and servo arm/link are 90 deg (Tx trims centered!) -make sure tail slider is centered , has equal travel both ways on tail shaft... -remove main blades -be careful and wear eye protection. -with blades removed place heli on a floor tile or something that does not create resistance to skids. -hold heli by frame (watch out with flybar!) and spool up heli.... -to adjust/center tail, loosen center set screw and slide in or out the blade holder. -the goal here is to have heli spooled up and tail holds heli in place without needed rudder trim. -keep repeating this process until no trim is needed to maintain tail from turning left or right when spooled up. -heli should be running (can be full throttle) with tail not wondering left or right... -change linkages/servo horn position/slider position, to maintain everything 90 deg and tail slider centered! AND when spooled up tail centered... -tail slider should be able to move/reach both ends of the tail rotor, since heli radio/gyro is limited in settings, to get more range, move tail servo link to outside hole on servo horn.. usually you do not want to do it this way, but we need to work with what we have, and its not much... NOW turn on HH on the gyro (switch on the gyro).... you will see a good holding tail now... ohh don't forget to use locktight on set screws so it wont let loose while in flight. I hope this helps someone...

Walkera Dragonfly 36 Longer Servo Horns?
I have a walkera dragonfly #36, and the assemblers CUT the servo horns... And I need more throw on aileron and elevator.... I have tried all servo horns I have and all are either too small or to large? Is there a servo horn that fits the 36 servos? By the way, I was bummed about all the bad press on these cheap clones... But upon receiving kit and adjusting/balancing and making sure all arms are 90 deg and such, this flies ok... I am somewhat experienced heli pilot, so that might help things.. As this thing is NOT ready to fly out of the box... all I changed was stock batt pack to a 1350 3 cell Lio pack... everything else stock...

Opinions needed...
I was looking into getting a 1/5 on-road, I was looking at the H.A.R.M. entry street kit. http://horizon.hobbyshopnow.com/products/description.asp?prod=HRE15310151H I am getting a REAL good price on a new kit (friend changed mind) for approx 1000.00 New ready to run with everything (radio too)... My question is how lame is this suspenssion on this kit? Can it somewhat perform on a track? or one has to buy the bad boy kit (alot of money) to do somewhat well on a track??? meaning. If one knows how to setup and play with shocks/springs and such to extract the most out of a given combination is this entry level kit somewhat capable of at least going around the track in a descent pace? I know it wont compare to the bad boy one, but how bad is it? I do not intend to compete with this BUT me and several friends want to jump in on these cars and race them on a private track. When we raced (stopped 2 years ago) we were A-main drivers running Serpent 1/10 and 1/8 cars. I know this is not a serpent, but I dont want to buy something that runs like a radio shack car... Suggestions/Tips/Info appreciated!!!! Even if you seen the cheapy run at a track and saw it run good/Or bad. thanks

RE: My new H9 sukhoi
Motor only turns off after a few seconds at full throtle... either flying straight or going vertical, same thing. full throdle for 3-4 seconds then go full down stick, when motor rpm drops, I say 1-2 seconds later motor shuts off..

RE: My new H9 sukhoi
I dead sticked several times again... last landing I broke prop and damaged cowl... Cowl was fixed but I ordered a bambula 24x10 to continue breaking in motor as per the engine manufactor forum here suggested... I will also try that idle up method to see if it helps... ohh the shutting off is not going vertical but also does it straight line! After 3-4 seconds full throtle and I got full low stick it dead sticks! very annoying...

ZDZ80 single - break-in
I used a MSC 25-10 on a new motor, and have run it 6 flights. Now I see on this board people recomend a smaller size for break-in. I ordered a bambula 24-10 to use now, is it too late? I am running rc-showcase oils and amounts... On the website and instructions I did not see any mention of this smaller break-in prop??? Did I miss it somewhere??? I checked here because I am having a bothersome problem... after 4 seconds full throdle, and go to full low stick motor turns off... ANy ideas???

RE: My new H9 sukhoi
xp8103, I never stated I had a CF tail tube [;)]... If you changed your gear, wingtube, drop spinner, I bet thats almost 1 lb right there. Eliminate that 1 lb lead and thats a total of 2 lbs! you would be 1 pound havier than me then. Dropthe dual elevator servos and lighten the plane and you could be where I am at. MOVE everything FAR FORWARD! Thr & choke servos are behind firewall in front of Rx.

RE: My new H9 sukhoi
Here are some Pics.. Wing was not moved back.... Keep in mind my flight pack is also light! I have (2) 5 cell 1650 nimh packs, together they weigh 10 oz flat. My ignition pack is a 4 cell 1100 nicad, that weighs 3.5 oz (all from Radical R/C) No lead was added. By lightening ALL wood frame this is what I saved: canopy I saved 4.2 oz bottom gear hatch I saved 4 oz Fuse I saved 4 oz Wing tube I saved 4 oz CF Gear i saved 8 oz Wheels I saved 3-4oz Etc.... Went crazy making holes and reducing thinknes of plywood formers. Mount Rx in front of wingtube All batt packs All the way near firewall Hope this helps

We played with low end A little.... we only did 3-4 flights max.. Idle was 1850-1950 and in air I clicked sub trim a few times higher just in case, still happened... This Sunday we are going to work on the needles..... what rpm are you guys with ZDZ80's at?

RE: My new H9 sukhoi
Still breaking in motor... its funny, in approx 4-5 feet it lifts of the ground! Yes , it has good vetical... cant wait to finish first gallon... to start dialing it in. On dead sticks It floats good... almost like a trainer... I think my low end might be lean???? When I go vertical full power and go to low and let plane do a hammer tail... On the downline its ok ,but when i pull out to fly level idle goes low and shuts off... Again I have only flown 4 times so far...

RE: Mounting ZDZ80 in H-9 Sukhoi
I will... Thanks... I love the challenge of making things lighter... Everyone said the same thing about the H9 edge 25%... Everyone argued and did not believe I got plane to 11 1/2 lbs with fuel! Everyone else was higher than 12lbs... Troy build models moved wing back 2 inches BUT plane was at the time balanced at the wingtube (not 3D)... and his plane was at a little over 21lbs Leaving wing in stock location and balancing to new adendum specs of approx 1 3/4 behind tube (for 3D) should be doable... ohh I will also try to mount fuel tank at CG...
