Iam missing rc so bad
I am punishing myself for having lost sight of some important things, by not flying. Had to scramble to get my bearing on my financial situation, and prioritize in a drastic way. Anyhow I wanted to check in and say hi, and sorry I haven't checked in here.

I've enjoyed the vids too. Clean. Patrick, I don't quite know what kind of black hole of crap Im going down, if this is normal then I'll take abnormal, at least it would be fun.

RE: Ultra Spad Stik 4 mil wing?
Sorry I haven't been posting, been missing my rc. Have been trying to get certified to be able to get some welding jobs, and the last month has been fun with some goofy crap mixed in. Made a run to get some welding practice in, then went to FL to get a welder. This Saturday a woman ran a red light in town, and I slammed into her, hard. A week ago the drive train on my mower decided to destroy itself, too. Other than that, same as usual !

RE: Ultra Spad Stik 4 mil wing?
So much for cheap repairs, just like the os stuff more to repair than just buy a good used engine. Can't get the 46 to run for long. 1st time i can't get a motor to run. I've fixed old trashed weedeaters and other stuff and I can always figure out what's wrong. this one is pissing me off bigtime. Frustrating , new hoses redid gas tank all new blew the motor out with compressed air. i am going to get a starter, i used regular syn oil to prelube it and i gotta get some fuel thru it maybe the oil residue is affecting it.

RE: Ultra Spad Stik 4 mil wing?
Noticed the spad repairs bust up alot of stuff vs the smaller ones I have. I replaced the throttle servo on the spad, it got screwed up on the last crash. Finally have my 3 planes repaired again. Been flying the nexstar and not motivated to keep spending money on repairs, did my first bearing bearing replacement over the weekend on a OS 46fx, watched a youtube video on how to do it. guess one of the crashes scored the case a little on the front bearing but i put the new bearing in anyhow. Almost don't make sense to put alot of repair into the 46 because i bought a good used one for $50 and the case runs $40.

Bearings for OS on ebay
I need bearings for an older OS 46fx engine and there are some that cost what I paid for a good used engine. Anybody try these on the auction site, or know of a good alternative. Need front and back. http://cgi.ebay.com/BEARINGS-STAINLESS-NITR-os-46ax-46-fx-46sf-50-sx-engine-/270761953582?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f0aab892e

AAAARGH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOLY SHIT, I WANTED TO SEE PICTURES OF FUN !! The front has got to look bad if it split like that. Wow , don't crank the motor if it got dirt, spray the hell outof it with pb blaster. Flew alot over the weekend while being bummed about not being able to be a spadfest. All of a sudden I got good landings, a bouncer here and there in calm no wind situations, which is weird.

RE: Moving wing to change cg
That's a neat biplane Villa. Anyhow, i'll leave the wing alone, did some thinking about moving the wing and it'll make more sense to plan on using standoffs. I'm going with using standoffs for the engine, because I was lucky to find some nylon round stock to make the standoffs with. I'll get the measurement with some all thread and then drill the nylon stock so the allthread will have something around it to strengthen it.

RE: Kombat Armadillo
I'm trimming weight on my ultra-spadstik. Mine drops when i cut throttle. I think you need to figure cg better, with that online cg calculator , then everybody says do something like up to 5% nose heavy is the best. So I follow this on the other plane i have, the nexstar and lately it's been flying good and the landings are fianlly getting real easy.

Just found that the throttle servo is wrecked on the last flight/crash. So might as well replace and get some upgrades. Recommendations and if you got some cheap that are in good condition let me know.

RE: RF G5.5 Plane
You can go to the swap pages on the realflight site and look for trainers. I would get the plane you have the model for and use that. Once you get familiar with the program you can change the parameters to match your plane, like weight, prop dimensions. I found flying with 0 wind was not much help because once with the model flying in wind you start to see how different the model flies vs the sim.

RE: Nexstar ARF Trainer configuration
I got mine used ,it's an old one and didn't have any of the flying aids on it. It's a funny flying plane in the wind for sure. I found that it needs a fair amount of speed in the turns and rudder use. She does bounce around some when the winds blowing. I had her up a few weeks back in about 8-9 mph wind and it was pretty challenging. The guy that was helping me hated it. So i just been flying it and finally got some real nice smooth landings yesterday with very little wind. Put the 11x5 prop back on, trimmed it a little nose up for slow flight and just finally figured out how to bleed off enough speed for a landing. The landings were giving me the most problem and it's not fun to watch em bounce down the strip. I've had some hard landings and the plane has held together well and I do enjoy flying her more and more now. Figure if it's not simple to fly it, then when you get something easier to fly then you'll be ahead of the plane I would think.

I'll take a picture from the side of it and post it. I did add some thin ply wood in the back to make the fuselage a little sturdier, but the wood really was not thick. The motor weighs 2.43 lbs.

Moving wing to change cg
I have a tail heavy spad coro plane and have had to add 2 plus lbs of weight to it. I have added 2.95 lbs to nose and want to eliminate the uneeded weight. Move wing forward or back ?

RE: Got my field in realflight g4
thanks opjose, I went out last week and redid a panorama and it looks like I got the horizon better aligned to the middle of the frame. Plus the new one has some nicer clouds. shot in manual mode as well, to get some better saturation. I haven't been on the sim for awhile since I've been busy with other things. I have been looking at the photofields and trying to see how the objects are put in. A little tough to see the details and doing it on a relatively small laptop screen makes it somewhat challenging.

RE: Ultra Spad Stik 4 mil wing?
So did some fuselage repair and some screws and glue and although the coro is split she's tight at the split. Gonna straighten the gear. I'll put a 5hp lawnmower engine on it load it with some c4 and fly it into the lake. Then since I was on a repair binge manic episode go to find the spark plug that has the adaptor ring on it, so it fits the hole and I can't find the spark plug. 3 hours searching and I can't find the plug. so I cut the field wednesday flew the nexstar and 2 deadstick landings, motor cuts out at low idle. set the idle and she was running good a little rich lots of fuel spraying out the pipe. Can't get the OS fx 46 to idle and now she's stalling. Put new oring in the low speed needle cleaned the fuel tank and replaced the rubber stopper, and new fuel lines, new glow plug #8 os, and then go to fly Friday and can't get the pos to run now. flew about maybe half tank and then stall. Need tip on cleaning carbon off piston tried seafoam and it didn't dissolve aANY OF THE CARBON !!! I'm King of the deadstick landings now. Help, seems like more fixing then flying.

RE: Got my field in realflight g4
I just noticed a reply which is a good thing becasue the photofield creation has been taking me so long to figure out that it's not funny anymore. So far I have been able to put a building in the correct position over the one in my photofield and then rendered to depth buffer to make it invisible and did the same procedure to put a fence in. I was trying to put trees in where the ones on my photofield and have found the red tree objects and figured how to move them but it a long and tediuos process to say the least. I can try to figure out how to do the export and then import to mine if I can find a similar layout then that would be nice. The planes fly strangely in my photofield they just kind of go out and it's hard to explain what it looks like.

RE: Setting Wind in Real Flight Basic
There is some settings you can get to for each airport through the menu on the top of the game. Simulation-Settings- Wind and Weather-Global Wind-Turbulence System. You highlight number by clicking on it then input a value from keyboard, and you can get some crazy flying weather. They have to be reset each time you fly unless you save the airport, but be sure to rename the airport to a different name so you have the original airport conditions to go back to.
