RE: Carb Problems/Air leaks
yeah as far as i know hot bodies is its own company but i am not certain. also hotbodies to my knowledge only has the .26 big block so finding parts shouldn't be too bad. i just went surfin' and hot bodies is by HPI, i had no idea. i'd be willin' to bet that the s25 carb would fit on your engine. ORIGINAL: bigdogkanicsar
Thanks, I seen the s25 and thought it may fit. I may just switch over to that to get rid of the air leaks all together. On another note, I was looking at your profile and seen one of your pics of the custom Air horn. What did you make it from, out of? How is it working for you? Like the look of it.

RE: Carb Problems/Air leaks
Thanks alot for the info it will be very useful to me. As for mentioning HPI and Hotbodies I figure they were the same but Hotbodies is a company of HPI im assuming. It is a Hotbodies engine out of the lighting GT. I think I know what happened after assesing the situaton. When I sealed the engine and I tightened the Carb. Setting pin (Pictured) I tightened it to tight. So it pulled the pin causing the metal sleve to bend and come loose. I put some red loctite on the sleve but sense heat loosens red loctite I think im going to try the epoxy instead. Thanks!

Carb Problems/Air leaks
I brought a >HOTBODIES POWER FACTORY .26 ENGINE WITHOUT PULLSTART off E-bay that was brand new. I finally got it into my truck for break in and had nothing but problems with it. The engine began to Rev really high after it was running for a while and wanted to take off before it got really hot and just shut off. I had everything dialed in on the radio and adjustments still set to factory on the engine. I took the next step someone told me to do, Seal the engine. Well did just that so after having a hard time getting it started it did the samething as before. I noticed the carb. was still turning even though I tightened it as much as I could. I hear everyone HPI this HPI that so I figured this was a good engine to use. There is a metal sleve around the bottom of the composite (Plastic) carb. body that will not gip onto the carb thats why i was getting rotation even though it was tighten down. I'm assuming this is why im getting the high revs and over heating. Does anyone have any idea if this can be fixed or just get another carb. body? Here is a small video showing the problem areas - [link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knAulss1VeQ]#hb28514 - SLIDE CARBURETTOR MAIN BODY [/link]

RE: HPI 5T Made in USA or China??
Whats up again? Well I got my answer I was looking for. The point i think I was trying to prove was how someone that has an HPI call a clone crap when in all reality it's the same thing. What I learned was when your a big company such as HPI you can tell a china manufacturer how you want your product what you want on your packaging that your product comes in. Same with the Rampage by Redcat Racing I have found that truck too in China but Redcat has their namme put on their packaging and what they decide to call it, Which they call it a Rampage. Im down with HPI like I said before I think the 5T is awesome. I have driven one and I liked it. I just hate the predjudice because of what someone drives. What does it matter what we are driving aslong as we are having fun doing it. After all if we didn't like the hobby why are we here. For example here is the Rampage but called another name from the manufacturer. [link=http://www.amax-toys.com/e/products/Gas%20and%20Nitro%20Model/Amax%20Series/05500.html]Thunder (Rampage MT)[/link]

HPI 5T Made in USA or China??
Whats up? I have a question that has yet to be answerdconcerning the Baja 5T. Im not talking trash about HPI baja's what so ever. I hope to actually get a 5T someday.I have a Rampage MT by Redcat Racing yes that is made in China thats no Seceret. I was just at Milestone MX park in Riverside Ca. where the first Baja 5T/5B races took place. I had my rampage there and got alot of looks like whats that, Do baja guys really think the only 5th scale out there is the 5B/5T? I got no respect ether,lol... IBack to my question; i have been looking into manufactures in China and came across A baja that resemble the 5T called T-1000 or Terminator. I can already hear all of you saying "oooh thats a clone". But is it really? I looked it over and all the parts are the same, even the tires are the same so if HPI's 5T was made here in the U.S. why are the parts in china. My friend has a 5T he doesn't use the stock radio, so when my reciever went out he lent me his radio/reciever to his 5T. Guess where they where both made?(china). I really don't care,it just gets kinda old when you walk by a baja guy and he has his nose up in the air cause you have a china made 5th scale, when in all reality they may be driving one as well. I like this hobbie for what it is the racing bashing whatever it may be. Talk and meeting new people and not judging them for what they have. Well here's some pix of China's T-1000/Terminator Also want to add I inquired about this truck and it goes for $650.00 RTR. Not sure what shipping would be.

RE: Landslide wheel hub question
Hey Chris thanks alot for the help. That would be awsome if Redcat comes out with a 17mm baja style tire. i actually looked at the SC8 a couple of weeks ago for a from bumper and skid plate but didn't even look at the wheels and tires. Another question I have is I seen some Baja trucks that are similar to HPI's 5T do you think Redcat is going to get their hands on those? here is some picks so you could see what im talking about. I already got all the details and pricing about this truck.

Landslide wheel hub question
Whats up? I have a Landslide that i'm in the process of rebuilding it. I'm not sure of the wheel hub size im guessing it's a 17mm. What im trying to do is outfit it with some baja/or short course truck wheels and tires. I can't find a baja wheel or tire anywhere in a 17mm. Is their a conversion kit out there to goto a smaller wheel hub size? I noticed even Redcats new short course truck has that smaller hub.

Smok'in Reciever!
Hey whats up? I have a 5th scale Rampage MT. I already had A Futaba 3pm Radio and a R603FF 3-Channel Receiver that I insalled on to the Rampage. I ran about a little over a gallon of gas in the M/T with no problem. The last time I ran it it it was okay untill it started to hear a sputter them it shut off. As I went to remove the body to restart it I had smoke coming from the reciever/battery box . The on and off switch wire harness from the reciever and the battery pack was fried. I replaced the on and off switch but got the same prblem the wires got very hot so I immediately disconnected it before it fried up again. My question is does anyone know what would cause this? Or is it just a bad reciever?

SH.18 parts
Hello, I have the landslide with the SH.18 engine. I had stripped out athe part where the glow plug screws into. I didnt see that part in the manual or do I see it being offered for purchase any where. If you pull the cooling head off the part I need is setting right between the cooling head and copper gasket. Do you know where I can purchase this part? I would hate to purchase a whole new engine for a $3.00 part. Thanks, Joey

RE: Landlside ate the 43T GEAR
well got everything on the truck, just to remind you im new at all this. I noticed when I try to roll the truuck backwards it like the break is on. Shouldn't it roll freely? this only happens when the truck is on the ground,if I pick it up the wheels roll backwards freely. Who knows....getting ready to just trash this thing after only having it for a little over a week.

RE: Landlside ate the 43T GEAR
hey guys whats up? (UPDATE ON MY LANDSLIDE) Well I just recieved the upgraded dogbones,2 front-2rear diff cups to front universal drive shafts and was supposed to get some new fuel line but was sent 4 hex head screws???hmm. Well I just took the front diff apart and just my luck I did it for nothing. Come to find out they diff gear and cup are one piece unless im missing something. Im getting frusterated now, haha. Do I need to just buy the whole diff.? UPDATE ON SPUR GEAR-I called redcat today and was told that the spur gear would be available in an hour online, haha yeah ok guess what it wasnt by the time an hour went by they were already closed so, I got one from a local hobbie shop that fit except it has 54t, I set the mesh and feels like it may be right I hope. Well if anyone has any answers for me,I would appriciate it. looks like im out of commision AGAIN this weekend. Have to wait again till monday to call Redcat. If its not one thing it's another.

RE: Landlside ate the 43T GEAR
Thanks guys for the info it was very helpful. One more thing cause I am new to this, how do you check the mesh on the spur gear? I contacted Redcat today about my problem and was told the exact thing on the gear, that it was probably loose. I know they are getting some gears in on wed. this week so I will be happy to get it installed and get back to the break in. redcat was awsome when I told them of my problen and stuck to their warrenty not only that hooked me up with the drive shaft upgrade kit. I had a change of mind on recomending Redcat and will highly recommend them. My nephews B-day is coming up,he'll be 10 any suggestions on a car/truck that redcat offers for a 10yr old? ?

RE: Landlside ate the 43T GEAR
Here's a recent email I sent Redcat. Read it and if anyone has had the same problem please feel free to contact me. I had many problems after I ran just one tank of gas and now my Landslide is out of comission for who knows how long on used it for about 30 mins. After I sent the email I also noticed the 43t gear chewed up one of my gas lines now has a small hole in it. My E-mail to redcat- Hello, My name is Manuel J Pinedo. I'm writing in concern of one of the products you sale called the Landslide. My fiance purchased the Landslide for me as a christmas present. When I opened it I was very surprised and satisfied with what I seen. I couldn't wait to get my new R/C on the road. I was able to get my R/C going to start the break in process on the 25th of December for a moment at least, I noticed a clanking noise at first then noticed my steering had went as well, when I approached the truck I noticed a screw missing off the steering linkage and the dog bone off the right side rear tire popped off. I was very upset that I hadn't even been thru a full tank of gas yet and the truck was already falling apart. I took the truck inside to inspect the damage and reinstall the rear dog bone I noticed the 43t gear (part# # 62008) was chewed up. I reinstalled the dog bone and to the truck out for another test drive only to have the dog bone fall from the car again, also realizing the dog bone was bent. On December 26th I tried straightening the dog bone on a press(my dad is a machinist)and reinstalled it once again. I ran the truck for about 15 minutes(first tank of gas finished)and noticed the dog bone missing this time. My nephew found it down the street. I gassed it up once more and fired it up but it didn't move when I gave it gas. This is when I noticed the gear just above the engine clutch bell crewed up also missing teeth from it. That's not it the two front dog bones now are also bent the front and rear driveshaft's are severely bent as well. I'm very disappointed with this product. I haven't even broken in the engine yet and the car is falling apart after only 30 minutes of run time. What kind of products is this business selling. I would not recommend Redcat products to anyone. Now my question to Redcat is is there a warranty offered? The plastic gear that got chewed up,yeah I can replace it but the metal gear from the differential verses the plastic gear that got chewed up will never hold up,it will always result to the same thing every time. Do you offer an aluminum gear of some kind? I attached pictures of the damage that was done. I will be contacting Redcat as soon as possible here's a link to a small video I took, you'll hear the gear grinding and see the one of 4 drive shafts that bent.[link=http://s46.photobucket.com/albums/f149/951fireboy/?action=view&current=MOV00127-1.flv]landslide Gear failure[/link]
