RE: My new YAK 54
Hey Plaster93, Hi this John mcNees and I am honored that you wanted to copy my scheme. Your plane looks great and I know you will get a lot of compliments on it. Have you flown it yet? If you haven't I know you will like the way it shows up in the air. Thanks again for choosing the plane and the scheme and I hope you have hundreds of flying hours with her. OMP Rep John McNees

RE: Full Scale 3-d Pics
Hey guys, I too was at that airshow on Sunday and I was very fortunate and lucky enough to be friends with the right people, got to crew for Matt and Kirby. I got to fuel, service the smoke oil and clean the planes all day. WOW I had a blast. Already knowing Matt and how great of a guy he is, I hadn't met Kirby until yesterday. Well guys I got to tell you he is really a nice guy. He and I talked about his Edges and his career and what is in his future for hours. Man this guy has the best job of anybody I know. If any of you get a chance to meet him I know you will feel the same way I do. He is the best.

Well guys you aren't going to believe this but I lost the Cap I put in my last post yesterday. I was flying along and doing some simple IMAC stuff and then all of a sudden she just flew away. So that's it ,I'm done with the hobby. I told myself if I ever lost this one ,I'm done. It was the best cover job I've ever done . Yes I did the Yak 54 that you see in the OMP ads. Had a bad day yesterday and I hope this will never happen to any of you. That was 4 grand in a million pieces. Take care everyone ,it was great for a while anyway.

RE: Somebody wanna explain to me the 'windex method'
OK guys ,i haven't said anything about this yet because I really don't want to sound like a know it all.I have been covering planes professionally now for 7 years and I have tried everything . Here is what I have found to work the best. First of all I learned to stay away from trim solvent. It's too hard on the colors if you don't get all the residue off before applying. Just simply go out and buy some vinyl graphic application fluid called Rapid Tac. Go on the net and search it up. OK, when you getb this stuff use it as a cleaner before and dry it off thenspray it on again before applying the covering. Then use a paper towel wrapped around a credit card and start squegging the applied covering from the middle outwards. Do this a couple of times or until most of the fluid is removed. Now wait overnight and then squegee one more time before you apply heat set at 250 degrees and with a sock onyour iron. Lightly apply the heat while keeping the iron moving. That's it and I assure you you will not have any bubbles or blemishes.

RE: Wing failure on Sledge
Dion , afterv looking at your pictures again I think I found your problem. Fuel tank in the wing ! I bet there has been some residual fuel that has leaked out of the tank and into the wood and glue joints. That could of weaked the wood and the glues that kept the whole area together. When you loaded it up with the snaps , it snapped. What do you think?

RE: OMP at Joe Nall?
Hey djccrn. John Mc here. It was great to see you there too. Your plane sure flew as good as it looked. I knew that we could dress her up with Blaine's graphics. I hope I didn't scare you too bad when I was flying it. I wish I could of flown it when the skies weren't so crowded, then we could of really made her dance. Anyway I hope you made it home alright. We weren't so lucky

All great ideasguys.Iguess everyone has their own special way to get the wood to conform to the area that needs to be sheeted. Pacro you should now be able to give a clinic on how to sheet built up wings.

RE: help me with my profiles wings
Pacro,Hi this is John from OMP. Yes water will definately help you out,but don't soak the wood in water. That will make it impossile for the glue to do it's thing and you might have a problem with the wood worping out of shape between the ribs. What you need to do is use a fine mist spray... and if you have any more questions feel free to ask. John McNees

RE: 80" omp edge graphics ?
I know that much money sounds like a lot,but when you buy a good quality vinyl it definately makes a huge difference in the way yor plane will look. There is a lot of material needed to make that many graphics. If you don't use a higher quality vinyl you take the risk of having it fade, tear when applying and most likely come off when fuel and oil get into them. So if you want your plane to look great and keep looking great the extra money shouldn't be an issue. Strictly my opinion. See you at Toledo.

RE: RE: RE: OMP Yak build
Blackie,If your asking if OMP will give you the graphic package, I'm sorry but the customer will have to pay for them. Even though the package shouldn't be that bad OMP would have to increase the cost of the kits if they included the graphics. Also you can custom match the colors of the graphics to match your color scheme of your plane when you call Time To Climb. Blaine Miller is the owner of Time To Climb. His number is 937-368-2225. I talked to him last night and he is going to get the graphic package together right away so he will have it ready when you call. He does awesome work.

RE: RE: RE: OMP Yak build
If any of you guys need to get great graphics for your OMP planes I recommend Time to Climb graphics. He will be making all our graphics for our OMP planes here in Dayton. His graphic work won Toledo last year in the scale aerobatic division. He is a great guy and will work hard for all your custom graphic needs. You won't find anybody that will get your work out as fast as he can. His graphics are on the new 80- inch YAK at the OMP booth at Toledo this year so come buy and check it out. This plane is a show stopper. We will have a video of the GS YAK and the 92 inch 50 cc Edge playing at the OMP booth . Along with a Aerofly simulator available to use ,we will have one of the best boothes there,so stop by and tell us some of your OMP plane testimonials.

RE: OMP Yak build
Hello fellow profile flyers, Well this is my first post and I have great news for all you OMP lovers. I live in Dayton Ohio and I am the newest member of Team OMP. Having known John Drake and Mike Pilkenton for a few years they knew of my work and and asked me if I wanted to build an 80 inch YAK 54. Well at first I wasn't sure if I wanted to but one day Mike let me fly his 80 inch Edge
